To anyone curious about Luke's hoodie and why that photo makes me cry - The photographer is called Nan Goldin, she's done a tonne of incredible work to uplift the queer community and DV survivors, bringing raw and unfiltered personal life experiences into the public gaze. The photo on the hoodie is of two drag queens called Misty and Jimmy Paulette after NYC Pride 1991, where 70,000 people marched in remembrance of everyone dying of AIDS. They held ribbons and carried the names of the loved ones they'd lost to the disease, and to the homophobic policies that had blocked funding for treatments to be developed. Nan was unapologetically showing the humanity of the girls, gays and theys to a world that didn't have any real emotional stake in whether or not we lived or died, something that's still so glaringly true today. It's a reminder that real empathy and real change can only happen when the world hears our authentic stories and sees our faces, our joy and pain

Similar problem happened, that the dress was mad for Monroe's skin tone, so the trompe l'œil effect didn't work on Kim, and neither for this Balenciaga dress. I agree. I like fashion, but watching this channel always reminds me how much I really don't give a damn about Fashion with a capital F. My number one question when it comes to an outfit is, does it look good? If it's also interesting, that's even better. But I don't much care for outfits that look interesting but not good, and so many of the outfits that Luke esteems fall into the "looks interesting but not good" category--at least for me. I continue to watch the channel occasionally, because sometimes I learn things, which is fun. But honestly, many of the outfits Luke dismisses as "boring," are the ones I like the most, because the last thing I want from an outfit is for it to distract from the person wearing it. I do feel like fashion CAN sometimes be really artistic and showy without distracting from the wearer; Hunter Schaffer's outfits fall into that category for me, where even though they're dramatic and extravagant, they still feel like a seamless extension of the wearer. But more often than not, I just wince at the "interesting" outfits and think they look uncomfortable and discordant.
