I love Africa and Africans with a passion; this song stirs up emotions. Soon I will be going there for the eighth time doing mission work. I have been in many countries on several continents, but see Africans as the nicest, friendliest people in the world.
Drummer Jeff Porcaro plays 1 steady beat from start to finish. He overdubs maracas , the 6 or 4 beat tom toms roll setting up the choruses whilst throwing in the occasional crash and pang symbols. The essence of simplicity and it's so dang gum effective. I love this song
@@troedelgerry Hey Gerry. Not yet. I've been under the weather and been in bed these last 2 days. I will check them out and let you know my thoughts. Cheers, RNB
Thanks for another great reaction Cynthia. Africa was one of the great feel good songs of the 1980's with a gorgeous melody and thoughtful lyrics. Toto had some excellent hits but "Africa" and "Rosanna" were my two favourites. The Porcaro brothers (along with the supporting members) were all terrific musicians. Cheers from Ontario, Canada!
Paich explained that the song is about a man's love of a continent, Africa, rather than just a personal romance.[17] He based the lyrics on a late night documentary with depictions of African plight and suffering
Hi my dear... wow, what a lovely reaction to one of Toto's gretatest hits.... I really enjoyed watching you enjoying this... and this is one of the main reasons why I love your channel so much... besifed other reasons, of course. Toto has many other great songs. Try out "Hold the line", probably one of their very best. So here is to your next one... another one from my suggestions would be great... either Ren x Chinchilla, or some other one I suggested to you some weeks ago. Hugs amd klisses from your dear friend Gerry

Back in my high School days very nice song ❤
Toto is actually an '80s music group. "Africa" is arguably the group's biggest hit.
