The Empire and the Mechanoids are canonically at war so this isnt too far off what would be going on in the background of your regular game.

Rarr you should really go for the Deserter ending in the Vanilla Expanded mods.
The diabolis is countered by fast melee pawns (from my experience) so you should have probably gone for a psycaster and strong blunt melee weapon instead of straight for gun turrets, and spammed militors if you wanted to speedrun it.
No idea if thats true for combat extended though.

@Rarr what modlist do you use for rimworld 1.5? i havent played since royalty and my mod list outadate.
If you ever do a part 2, consider using alpha mechs, it adds like 3 or so more mechtech tiers and a ton of fun stuff. Also what mod do you use for those sick animations. Cheers mate!
