- Tapasya episode 73: The Penance of Practice
This episode of Tapasya draws a parlance to the idea of practice to that of a penance. Our artforms have a deep purport and when practised as a Tapasya, they elevate the practitioner to the status of a Yogi.
In this episode, the students share their experiences of practising the art in their own ways and how that preparation, with respect to different aspects of Natya, makes them grow as artistes and individuals.
Tapasya - the training sessions, is a series of videos that will be published on a monthly basis (as episodes) on the last day of every month.
The students featuring in Tapasya series have about 6-8 classes every month. Each episode of Tapasya is a cumulative overview of what is taught to them during the course of the month.
Along with the training sessions of the children, Tapasya also holds inputs on teaching techniques from Smt. Sheela Unnikrishnan and useful tips from the regular performers of Sridevi Nrithyalaya.

We honestly work hard and spend a good time and amount of our resources to produce our music and dance videos. They are produced and uploaded in our social platforms solely to take our art to all those raiskas around the globe who are unable to reach us in person to enjoy SDN's art live.
It is not about 'misuse' or 'trying to support' our dance and audio productions by just giving credits. Art is for all for sure. Our productions uploaded in social platforms are for the art lovers worldwide to WATCH and ENJOY but definitely not for copying or reproducing without SDNT's authorisation.
SDNT has unanimously derived to this strong conclusion. Therefore, SDN or any individual from SDN would be not to able to grant anyone permission to reproduce our work of any form.

The recital comes to Life only when the Bhava of the artist creates Rasa in the viewers.
Bhava is the seed and Rasa is the plant growing out of that seed.

So one can be talking perfect nonsense not just with one's tongue but also with one's body.😂

Watching all 73 episodes from the genesis of this journey,
I am getting so much curious to watch a tapasya episode about how impromptu are your choreography sessions and
how well students imbibe the ideas and formations in group choreography?
Also, can we get to watch an upload of the FULL song which Sai Smriti Suresh is showing just a glimpse in this episode.
The lyrics are very well resonating with Lalitha Sahsranamam "Pancha brahmasana sthitha", "Pancha prethasana seena".

When women do bharatnatyam it looks good but when men do it it looks like some alien doing dance. why it is like that? Is it true bharatnatyam is not for men or just stereotypes
It’s traditionally for women dancers just like kathakali, etc are traditional for men. I agree men can be great dancers but it just looks better with women
