    WOW. If there's another ball I would get, it would clearly be the Super Nova--it would clearly be better for me than the Nova or the Night Road because of the "tumbly" roll, which reminds me kind of my Omega Crux. Of course, that reminds me of considering the Phaze 4 too if I'm going to get another soon.
    You included great views from Angel and nailed it when you commented on all of the performance differences, because I could see the ball move and what you said verbalized well what I was seeing. The Super Nova is definitely more versatile; it also makes me conclude that the Super Nova is far better for my game than the Gem or the Proton. So in all that information, you helped me eliminate the Nova, Gem, RST X-3 and Night Road from my potential buying choices. Very helpful and thanks for the great commentary and content!
    Also, please CONTINUE to list the core and cover comparison chart, as that really helps see some of the "measurable" differences in the ball lines you compare: it should be a great visual for most to start off with.

    What a great video. Finally, a question has been answered between the supernova and the proton. In other videos, I’ve seen with them separate they seem very similar. The supernova seems a lot slower. It looks just ass or even stronger than the proton. The proton seems a little faster, but in the right situations, they look incredible. It goes to show that even we have a different layout or ball speed or whatever the case may be the right/style can vary.

    It's so hard being a bowler who's local house is extremely high friction (low-oil and wood surface) and watching all this new stuff come out. I can't even imagine I'd put my Helios out here, but some people have put up 900's with it. Insane.

    And now that I've looked up the scent, I want it even more. It's always my dream to have my bag smell like a 7-11 Slurpee machine.

    Yet again Luke offers the insight the average bowler needs to understand ball reaction and make informed decisions, but other reviewers are too lazy or inexperienced to touch on. His working knowledge of ball reaction is ultra impressive. Keep on mate!

    I’m a newer bowler, just finished up first half of league, of which the last half I upgraded from a conventional drill tropical surge to a fingertip supernova. I’m still learning and have a low rev rate, videos like this help me understand what the cover/core differences are but I am still not 100% there on understanding. Thanks!

    I was already thinking about this ball when it was released overseas a couple of weeks ago. Seeing y'all throw it really shows how versatile is. Can't wait to drill one, likely pin down to tame it down a tad bit. Btw you've also convinced me to finally pull the plug on the UC3 + some shine. Keep it up man! love the vids.

    • @ckeat13
      @ckeat13 2 года назад +1

      I had a UFO and have a Gem, and the Gem is stronger. For me, the Gem is more like a Gravity Evolve. Both of these hook earlier, whereas the UFO would get down the lane a bit easier and have more energy at the end of the pattern.

    I've been needing a new top of the arsenal ball for a bit now, Alert and Phaze 2 are my "strongest" at the moment. I throw similiar to Angel, maybe mile ish faster and I love 2 to 3rd arrow. Teammate w similar speed/rev has Gem but it only looks good half of 1st game most nights. I'm thinking the Super Nova would be a perfect #1 ball and be enough a ball up for me to not overlap my 2nd balls. Thanx for Vid!

    I'm on a hunt for a heavy oil ball for the fresh and I've been torn between this or the Reality. I'm a no thumb bowler which is pretty much close to 2 handed, I actually use the 2LS system for my equipment. Watching James throw the Super Nova as a pin down it has great control with great performance which makes me want to use my new weaker/control layout ( which is a custom stronger 2LS 1 ) for the Super Nova. I LOVE the Nova and I LOVE the Altered Reality ( which is why I'm torn between the Reality or the Super Nova ). I feel watching this video has made me lean more towards the Super Nova due to the amount of control James put out with it. I feel the first out of bad should have more control. The Reality is earlier and it looks stronger in my eyes which may not workout for me. What are your thoughts? any advise would be helpful!

    • @ShimWreckerEnterprises
      @ShimWreckerEnterprises 2 года назад +2

      I have a drilled and a NIB Reality... they're both about to get sold so I can stock up on the Super Nova... literally putting my money where my mouth is. Can't say much more than that LOL
      I actually think the Reality and SN are similar on traction/length, the SN just blends and tumbles a bit better. Reality creates an absolutely sick shot-shape but can give some nasty taps for higher rev rates and the angles they create if that makes sense.

    • @billycrowden34
      @billycrowden34 2 года назад

      If you are medium speed I’d go supernova but if you have high speed I’d go reality. I say this just because I think the super has a little more control too based on the video and what shots I’ve thrown with it. I have two reality’s and the reality seems to be a little sharper and stronger overall for me. Hopefully this helps steer you in the right direction. I am also a two hander 450-500 rev with 17-18 mph

    So I’d heard some rumors that the Super was designed to replace the Proton… but it looks like they stand on their own and could exist together in the same line. You think the Proton is in danger of getting discontinued?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  2 года назад

      The Dark Code hasn't been discontinued yet, and the Infinite being released virtually on top of it says the same thing in theory, that it's a replacement, but same deal here, they can stand on their own I think, so I'm not sure.

  • @shaneconnelly9594

    Didn’t know the super was NEX. The comparison at the end I don’t think was fair since both balls have a completely different layout

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  2 года назад

      Completely different? It was pin up vs pin down, the other numbers were the same or virtually the same. It further adds to the point though, with the original being pin up, it should have been more dynamic than the Super, but it wasn't, which further drives home the point about the cover formulas.

    • @ShimWreckerEnterprises
      @ShimWreckerEnterprises 2 года назад +1

      4.5 x 4.5 x 4 on the Super Nova, 4.5 x 4 x 2.5 on the Nova... aside from the up/down those are some VERY close layout numbers. And as Luke accurately noted... the fact that the Nova was the slower and less directional change ball of the two even with the more dynamic layout just emphasizes how much more of an effect NeX vs R2X has on these two balls.

    Love the pin down layout. I prefer pin down on stronger stuff myself. And pin up on weaker equipment. This ball looks so good! It’s hard to pick between the Reality and Super Nova for the big solid asym spot. Which do you think would compliment the Rubicon?

    • @ShimWreckerEnterprises

      @@ShimWreckerEnterprises It does seem to do everything very well across the board! So Super Nova, Infinite Physix, Rubicon (possibly shined up Rubicon) for the 3 big ball slots. My bag is set up where when one thing is either burning up or is to sharp I can ball down. Without having to move.

    • @ShimWreckerEnterprises
      @ShimWreckerEnterprises 2 года назад +1

      On a house shot with less volume I can hook the Nova a good bit more. The house shot at RCL is pretty soupy in the middle of the lane and I rarely need covers on the medium to medium-weak end (R2X Hyb is pretty medium-ish) there because they just won't pick up properly... and you can kinda see that here with how the OG Nova behaves.

    Hey luke, I was wondering whether or not you had an idea on how polish would look with this ball. Ik this ball is versatile with lane play changes, but do you have an idea on how surface changes would work with this ball?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  2 года назад +1

      Yep, I'm actually working on the sport video, should have that up in a couple days. They came pretty close to 4k, Angel threw hers out of the box, James took his to 3k, then we took it to 2k for the sport video.

    • @ShimWreckerEnterprises
      @ShimWreckerEnterprises 2 года назад +1

      I didn't do this for a video, but I did try my Super Nova at 4k fast. NeX Solid responds in an interesting way to shine... it doesn't really get QUICKER, just gets further downlane and not as defined in the mids because of less traction. I like how it responds better with surface so I'm back to keeping it right around box.
      This generally seems to mirror the Axiom in that it seems much happier with surface than shine on it from what I've experienced and seen... but if you like the Axiom with shine I think you'd like this one with shine as well. Hope that helps!

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  2 года назад +1

      From the Nova or itself? It would have been even further away from the Nova, because pin up would have made it earlier and more dynamic, but pin up vs pin down isn't a tooon of difference. Little earlier and stronger overall.

    • @ShimWreckerEnterprises
      @ShimWreckerEnterprises 2 года назад

    While on the topic of big rev rates and transition, I’d like to ask you guys a question:
    People often complain about my rev rate blowing up a pattern (even in house leagues). My response is always the same: “a big rev rate on its own doesn’t ruin a pattern as much as people who can’t hit what they’re looking at.”
    Do you guys agree with this assessment? In other words, would you say that a big rev rate with accuracy breaks patterns down more predictably than a bunch of sprayers with lower rev rates?

    • @ShimWreckerEnterprises
      @ShimWreckerEnterprises 2 года назад +1

      More predictably yes, but the transition from high rev rate is more significant than that from a lower rev rate all else being equal.
