From Tailgating to the Polka: A Bears Fan trip to Lambeau Field

Lambeau Field is 184 LONG MILES from Chicago on the way home after yet another embarrassing loss to the Packers. On the way to Lambeau, it's a "quick trip from Chicago, you'll have a couple2-tree braaats and have some beeeers dontcha-know."
I've gotta say, being a Bears fan since birth, I've always hated the idea of heading up to Green Bay to see a Bears and Packers game. (Mostly because of the looming through of doom of walking through the crowd at Lambeau just after a Bears loss.)
My hatred turned to envy once I parked my car in the makeshift front lawn parking lot. Besides it being the home of the Packers and all the hideous Green and Gold (Let's face it, it's flipping yellow) it's a truly magical place.
Yes, I said it...
I walked around Title Town, the beer halls, the front yard (and backyard) in the parking lot and took in everything that is right with football. With a chill of autumn in the air, Green Bay and specifically Lambeau Field provides the perfect backdrop to football. Football the way it was meant to be, outside, in a town for the people of the town.
I'm a Bears fan and I loved it. I walked the grounds with envy and hope. Hope that the Bears get the new stadium right, remember their Midwestern roots and build a place that Papa Bear would be proud of. Please, for the love of God don't sell your souls and build something like what is in Vegas.
Was I razzed a bit for my orange and blue? Yes...Hell Yes I was. Somehow it still came off as polite. (It's much worse than what Sox fans to do Cubs fans on the South Side)
Forget it's the home of the Packers for one second. If you want to see football at it's absolute best, in the setting, it was meant for, make the trip North to Green Bay, have a braaat and beer and soak in America's game, born from the Midwest.

I grew up in WI and have had the privilege of going to many Packers games and sit next to the opposing team’s fans on a few occasions. I am always happy the opposing teams' fans get to experience Lambeau. Lambeau Field is an NFL Shrine. If you are a football fan, you have to visit it once in your life. Get there early and tour the Packers Hall of Fame. Glad you had a great time (other than another loss by Da Bears).

@@LordJove312 If you think the Bears only problem since 1985 is "mid quarterback play," you guys have been hitting the blue and orange Kool Aid a lot harder than I thought this off season.

I love watching when the light leaves Bears fans eyes when they lose to the Packers, it makes me so happy. And cheers to Manitowoc, I grew up there!

This will be my continuous 63rd + 1(Covid) opening game day this fall, and missed only 4 or 5 regular games + 1 playoff game. I always look forward to “The Bears” coming to Lambeau. You are by far the best of the best visiting fans to come to Lambeau, watch your team, meet and learn about new people and above all, have fun !!!! This will be one of the very few years I will not receive tickets for this game because the way the schedule was set up, 2nd 5th and last game, the Milwaukee season ticket holders get all 3 conference home games. (got my season tickets in 1961.)

Always sold out, even the next two miles of parking. No matter the score, the GB Packers HAVE THE MOST DEDICATED FANS!

What a cool video! I live here in Green Bay, but I truly appreciate getting the "outside" perspective. It really adds to my sense to appreciate things and not take them for granted. Yeah, "the Bears still suck" and all that razzing. I love my Packers, but I honestly cannot imagine them without the Bears. Papa Bear himself has a couple pretty important moments in Packer history.
The Vikings however, yeah that's another story...

I hope walking into lambeau made you feel just like Rudy's dad feels when he walked into notre dame stadium after all the remodels of that stadium and lambeau were done by the same architect firm
