Really nice pro restore job - its bringing back memories as I had a Mark 25 some 35 years ago and ran it on a 14 ft semi v fiberglass bass boat - what fun it was fishing all over all the inland lakes in my area. Did have to put in new coils and points but then smooth running! thanks for the video and bringing some memories back.
Looking at the motor really takes me back to my dad's motor. I remember being on the lake with his homemade wooden boat and that model motor. He bought it at a hardware store in Wausau, WI.
Love your channel BTW and I also hunt for the old mercs. Have a mk58a I've had since the 1970's to build....this might be an inspiration. AND 24mph on a pumpkin seed of a boat is flying! Excellent video thank you!
My Dad had a Mercury Kiekhaefer Mark20 with a Mark25 power head and a bronze prop. He would race other 35 HP boats and win with his lightweight 14' deep V Arkansas Traveler. The Mark25 power head was installed on the Mark20 engine by QUINCY WELDING.
wow nice job, lots a work, i just got mark 25 on a FeatherCraft runabout also running it to work out some kinks Like getting water to pump and the tuning seams complicated even with a service manual still runs great and wow is my motor loud, guessing its the small string of exhaust ports above the water line. really inspiring.
nice work on this vintage outboard motor as id like the older Mercs as they when well looked after as im gettinmy Caribbean V13 sea sprite boat restored in the future as im getting a red band Merc 40hp for my boat as im gettin as well in case a blue band Merc 40hp outboards same as well for the brown band models as I like all older Merc outboards as I like the motor when fully restored as I knew im a fan of the older Merc outboards as I love these older model outboards as they are fun to work on and they are easy to fix as well too as my first Merc outboard on my boat will be a 40hp red or brown band model 40hp outboard as I knew these was the best outboards ever made by kiekaefer mercury these was the best in outboards and they still are nowadays as I knew this was the good motors as with the good motors thy are well proven motors in Australia as well they are good and reliable engines on the boats in Australia as I like the older Mercs as I love these outboards in the future I will have a collection of these outboards in m care as im an avid boatie this will be good as im an ex outboard mechanic and I knew a lot on the outboards I will have in my care in the future as I like all outboards despite of the origins as I care for my outboard motors as a Mercury or those made by OMC or kiekaefer mercury as I only collet these outboards as I knew them all thus was the motor in the 40hp and upwards like the 115hp models and up and the Vi6 black max this will be my first V6 outboard I will be caring for now as I love the older outboards as I worked in a outboard motor wrecking mob this was Arizona outboards on 20years ago now and I learnt a lot in that place where I fixed and dismantled all model Merc and OMC outboards as im a hardnosed boater and I knew a lot as I read up on the boats and the motors I will like to join a club on those outboards in the future I will be going to do so in the future join a outboard motor club in the future I will do so in good time as I like the older outboard motors on the fibreglass classis boats like my Caribbean V13 sea sprite boat I have in my care on 20year now my classic Caribbean V13 sea sprite boat I had it on 20 years now
Very nice.... I have that exact motor. It was the original on my 1956 Aristocraft Typhoon 12. I am going to restore the Mk25 motor eventually and need some parts. one of the dynafloat covers is missing and during a brief use in salt water, the waterpump is deteriorated. Any Idea any sources for parts.? Familiar with Old mercs, and vintage outboards, and mo-par-mall... They are good for the 4 cylinder Mk55s and Mk35s do you know any others for the smaller engines?
awesome !! i just oicked one of these up with a 14 ft sea nymph !! need some tips on the motor one side of the cover wont come off , looks like i may need to remove two bolts around the fuel connection
I am pretty familiar with outboard repairs but can't seem to the get the pin out so I can rebuild the water pump and install new seals. Any thoughts or videos. Thanks
Great job on your work here and your others. I restored some outboards some years back Evinrudes and Johnsons(4) Was curious where and who has Phelon ign.magneto coils for the Merc Mark 20S would you know? any help would be appreciated do you still restore I have lots of motors (cores)thanks Glenn P.
I saw your videos fixing old outboard motors, so I was wondering if you can help me to get a vintage outboard motor. If you have one for sale for a 14.4 foot inflatable boat because I think old is better than new ones.
Hi there ! is there anyway I can trouble youbto make a video showing rebuilding the top white part that houses the pull start ? I hastily took off the side covers and the top at the same time and the top came loose and kind if fell apart , i thinkni out it together correctly but as you know there are alot of parts and I coukd have one wrong . I cant find at least a diagram even in the giant manuel I got with it . Trying tk getvthe top on amd see if this puppy runs as is . Or if you know of a place I could find a diagram or something that woukd be awesome !! Thanks and love how you restored those engines 👍🏻
What is the scoop on winding the pull start ? I got it together and it seems to rewind nicely Then I put it on top and it will not rewind The rope just stays out If I pull the top up it unhooked then rewinds I get it all together put the nut on then hold it with a screw driver and it seems to need to be wound by turning the screw driver counter clockwise all while also tightening slowly the nut and then its a guessing game to see how tightly wound it needs to be before giving the final tighten of the nut to keep the spring from unwinding I must be doing something wrong !!! Aaaahhh Help please
Nice I’m doing a 1956 30 hp Johnson Outbord what kind of paint gun did you use I got a harbor freight the kit that has two guns in it because I don’t have 220 in my garage yet so I got 15 gallon 3 hp compressor nice job 👍🏻
@@bigdmc1 yeah I bought the kit it has two guns in it a small and a bigger one has 1.4 nozzle 49.95 I had a 20% off coupon but I got a few other things I don’t have a soda blaster I am sanding it but under the cowl it’s good found this motor on market place sat in a basement since 1975 his dad bought it new in 56 has all the paperwork even receipt it only had a inch of ware on prop excellent job you did on that mercury that thing is beautiful thanks for the video on it
So I didn’t know you can take the LU off without removing the power head. Is this motor an auto-tranny like the mark 10? Fantastic job on the rest and video by the way. Thanks, Matt
Jeremy Crew If you Google a place called McIntosh vintage outboards he’s up in Hayward Wisconsin he sells them or you can sometimes find them on eBay I believe Sierra still makes them new

Beautiful, great job on restoring it.
That's a beautiful motor. Has a real Art Deco retro look. I'm restoring a 53 Johnson 25 right now. Hope it turns out half as nice as yours did.
wow nice job, lots a work, i just got mark 25 on a FeatherCraft runabout also running it to work out some kinks Like getting water to pump and the tuning seams complicated even with a service manual still runs great and wow is my motor loud, guessing its the small string of exhaust ports above the water line. really inspiring.
I watched one of these sell at a sale for 45$ last summer in Shelbyville, IN. After watching this I wished I would have bought it.
20 horsepower from 19.9 cubic inches. The Mark 25 is an awesome little engine. I had a 56 myself. Mine was the gold/sand color.
Great restore job, man!
Awesome restoration!

Is the insulation you put on the inside of the cowl pre-cut, and if so how would I find it?
No it’s just bulk self sticking insulation I found on eBay and I cut it myself
Awesome
where did you get the heat reflective pieces for the inside of the cowl?
Found them on eBay I think
Where can I get one of your restored motors?
I got one trying to get a prop seal
Nice, how muck you think a mark 25 in worth these days?
holy roller It’ll depends on condition and how bad you need it I only paid $50 for that one that I restored but I sold for $2500
how about a H model??
top
where to buy an impeller?
Jeremy Crew If you Google a place called McIntosh vintage outboards he’s up in Hayward Wisconsin he sells them or you can sometimes find them on eBay I believe Sierra still makes them new
I need a pillow
If I was really good at doing stuff I could have done that
Where did you get the parts for the fuel tank?
