Guitar Pro 8 Entering Standard Notation - Convert Music Notes To Guitar Tabs

- Entering standard music notation into Guitar Pro 8 and converting the music notes to create guitar tabs is relatively easy. A guitar student recently asked me to convert a piece of standard music notation that he had been given into guitar tablature so he could play the music. Here is how to do it using Guitar Pro 8.

Do you by any chance know how to make a chord into different voicings so you can put the stems of the notes in different directrions?
The easiest method is to open the 'Move/Swap Voices' window (in the tools menu) and move individual notes into a different voice. You can then adjust stem directions as required.
I have a music book with paper pages with notes. Is there a device that can change them into tableture like a printer? Copy the page of notes and feed it through the printer and now it has converted into tab.
Not that I am aware of. This is something I have searched for previously as I also have written notation that I would love to be able to convert into an editable digital format. If you do find a solution, please let me know!
can u use the staff without the guitar tab?
Yes, that option is within the 'tracks' panel on the right. You can show or hide tab, standard notation, slash notation or numbered notation.

My notation and tab are not in the same octave for guitar. If I transpose one the other transpose too. Can you help please? Thank you so much.. Ben
Hi Ben. If you select the "Track" option on the right hand panel, click on "more" under the tuning. You will then be able to set the transposition tonality via the dropdown menu in the "octave" section. This changes the notation independently to the guitar tab. Does that fix your problem?

@@alanmcdowell977 Printing the entire web page will use a lot of ink if you include the images, so it might be best to print the text only. You could (on a Mac) hit "command + A" to select everything on the page. Open a new document in something like Microsoft Word and paste as plain text. In Word for example, either right click or click "edit" in the menu at the top and select "paste special". You can then paste the unformatted text, edit as necessary and print.
To print the page including images, hit "command + P" or select "print" from the "file" menu at the top. You also have other options in the "file" menu such as "export as pdf".

To be honest, it would be better for you to purchase Guitar Pro if you do not have it already and work through the process yourself as it isn't too difficult. Do you have lots of notation that needs converting?
@@PaulHillGuitarist it's just my daughter she play guitar and at school they giving her the songs to play in notation and she still can't read it. I play guitar by ear and tabs.
