If you're a Geologist, or something related* -you'll learn some fascinating things; The Australasian continent is relatively flat in this epoch, however, if you go back far enough, & look at the right data; The evidence is there for sections of it's mountain ranges, to be amongst the highest (if not THE highest), to have existed -ever! 😮 For now at least; as the detailed picture is always slowly evolving... 😊 Cheers *There's many experts in those fields, as mining's HUGE here! Mt Cook in Austrailia is 12,218 feet above sea level so put that on your bucket list as it could be considered as a highest continental peak. According to the Bible the earth and all creation is about 6,200 years old and I believe that no matter what geologists claim w their Big Bang creation and evolutionary delusional theories.

I am an old woman from Sweden, 75 years old, mother of three wonderful daughters, five grandchildren, divorced since more than 3o years, not retired, still work, coz I don’t feel I have used my skills . Speak English fluently and German and Italian and the last two years I have studied Spanish. Follow your every vlog and get envious of you. You have a very exciting life. Go on with it as long as you can, but everyone gets old and some time it comes to an end. My then girlfriend and I hike up Mt. Kosciuszko in the early 80s from Charlotte's Pass. It was February and we wore T-shirts and shorts. It was certainly no Mt. Kilimanjaro but when we got there we still felt like we were on top of the world. I'm very happy that you are enjoying your time in Australia. Glad to see those kids at the top didn't say anything nasty about Russia. They seemed especially polite. If I ever do it again, I'll be wearing a Marmite cap!
Eli, You are the first person I’ve heard of that bothered to climb that hill, no Aussie would even consider it as worth climbing or even seeing. You are someone worth watching so as to see all those things that I’ve overlooked.

@@ElifromRussia Please be careful wandering off trails in Australia. Sticking to the trail is okay, but please be safe. Many people wander off and are lost each year in our national parks. Do not rely on mobile telephone. It covers only small portion of the country.
Its a made path because the alpine environment is fragile and a lot of people traffic use it. Can suddenly snow or get quite cold before November. Glad you have fun in our country.

Awesome Eli, the Australian High Country is amazing, but you should Definitely also visit Cradle Mountain in Tasmania, that is truly stunning. But don't hike there alone, as the weather is extremely volatile, and blizzards can occur, out of nowhere, even in the summer time. Looking forward to seeing your next awesome adventure, good on ya mate👍😎👍.
You mean Australia being a continent and renound for amazing wildlife, deserts, rainforrests, giant trees, tropical islands, the worlds oldest jungle/rainforrest, the great barrier reef and ningaloo on the west coast, the worlds oldest landscapes etc... Australia is far more than just beaches.
@Alex Alex That's because we're our own very unique thing -- but still, people are reminded of Europe by our many old-worldy villages, forests, and agricultural rolling hills (like in the Northwest), as well as being very mountainous (which many European émigrés appreciated).
Eli, thanks for visiting my part of the world (I live in Canberra). In 1974, I drove an ordinary car to the top of Mt Kosciuszko. Later, the government tore up the road, to make it more of a challenge to climb to the top. The matting you walked on is used to preserve the soil and vegetation of the area.
Good on you Eli. I love how you pronounced Melbourne correctly.Bravo! I did the Kosciusko walk in April.I caught the chair lift from Thredbo to the start of the trail.One major bit of advice,make sure you have well fitting comfortable shoes.The first lookout about 20 minutes in was where I was considering turning back,as the shoes were abrading my heel and I was in a lot of pain.I grit my teeth and kept going until the lookout with the toilets and a sign saying another 40 min ,one way to the top.That's where thepain was too much and I turned back.At age 56 I'm very strong and fit,but boy is the walk hard.To add insult to injury, the car park was over a kilometre from the chairlift.My heel was in agony and my hips were frozen solid.But just for the scenery alone it was worth it. All up there was 4 hours of walking, mostly up hill, so definitely not an easy stroll.My friend started the hike from the Perisher side and he said it is not as hard. So I plan at Christmas to do the walk again, but from Perisher, and hopefully complete the final section.I have since bought Saguaro Barefoot shoes so my feet should have no complaint. P,S. The day after I went and did the Yarrangobilly River walk, in thongs, as my heel was an open wound.The final 1/2 hour of that walk was pure torture.A long,constant .steep uphill walk from the Thermal Pool.
I remember going to Jindabyne and Thredbo as a school kid way back in 1970. Very pleased you got out in some of our Australian bush of what we call the high country.

You know Eli, what is the capital of Australia was a question on a US TV game show ? Do you know a majority of people thought Sydney was the capital. I was shocked that so many people are ignorant, even in the age of the internet. Travel definitely opens your mind and makes you very knowledgeable about your surroundings.

Allow me to add my comments on this State and Continent. You live very far from Europe, America, Asia. You cannot make an excursion, because there are dangers everywhere: snakes crocodiles, scorpions, and in the sea - dangerous jelly-fish. I have recently seen videos of the American Gabriel Traveller about Australia. He showed the town of Cairns in Queensland. He was careful about crocodiles when he went to the beaches and he read warnings about crocodiles. The beaches were empty, maybe it was not the high season, and I saw net enclosure in the see and on the sand against crocodiles. Two men from Bulgaria shared the following: A snake entered the washing machine in his home. The other man shared that he found big cock-roaches in the kitchen of his appartment in Sydney.
I once had a deadly snake crawl across my feet when I was pealing potatoes over a kitchen sink in Carnarvon Western Australia. I was pushed off by my brother the wharf in the Northern Territory where we saw sharks and its riddled with crocodiles, I've never swam so fast Australia is definitely an adventure, but don't be scared, its generally a very safe place.
I wouldn’t go listening too much to you tube videos saying how dangerous Australia is. We don’t have bears, large cats, wolves etc. almost every country in the world has snakes and spiders and the oceans of the world all contain sharks. Crocs are only in the very top of Australia. Our cities really don’t have any dangerous critters like any other big cities around the world. Relax, did Eli get eaten by anything? She didn’t even see anything except some parrots. That’s what most of Australia is like.
There are more impressive mountains in Australia that aren't as high (mount feathertop) but in winter the snowies comes to it's own as a winter wonderland, we actually get more snow here in the alps than Switzerland.
A lot of those scenic vegetation shots may have been done in a hurry, but they looked like elaborate vistas that took a long time to set up. Exceptionally professional artistry was the result. If you put a chopstick on each side of your middle finger and then work the leverage, you might find it easier to eat the Oriental way. Don't feel bad about bungling with the method--- I met a Korean lady who was about 45 and still didn't know how to eat with chopsticks. Kosciuszko was a big hero in the American Revolution, valued highly by George Washington and Thomas Jefferson both. His engineering genius with fortifications at the Battle of Saratoga in 1777 helped turn the whole war in favor of the colonists, and his foundational work at West Point gave the U.S. Army a place that trains officers to this day.

Thanks for taking me there and to the (low level) roof of Australia-most houses, at least in the country and it used to be so in the cities, are single-storey! Your production values and music selection are superior to most other vlogs and, as for those RUclipsrs who can still get viewers to listen to rambling monologues or merely repeat the same inaccurate cliches...enough said. A single viewing of each of your episodes is not enough for me. Australia is one of the few countries that have legal measures encouraging people to vote. This ensures efforts are made to ensure the integrity of the rolls and that voting must be as convenient and well-run as possible. The Australian Electoral Commission is one of our most valued and trusted institutions. Consequently our change of government "ceremonies" are very low-key. As more people have had a say in the outcome, extremists don't prevail. To further this end, the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate provides a travel subsidy based on distance travelled for years 4-12 students to participate in excursions to Canberra somewhat of a rite of passage for many at the end of their primary school career. Some of the students you met were from a school in Sydney.

It's great that you're exploring the real Australia. So many vloggers just go to Sydney or Melbourne and think that that's it. All big cities are much the same. Looks like a lot of infrastructure around the mountain now. When I used to go there there was very little there apart from the road and the rocks.
The walk up to the top of Kosciuszko either can be a very pleasant walking in Summer, or a rather windy and unpleasant one in winter. If you go from Thredbo in winter, it is a good idea to check the weather at the top of the chair lift.

You are seeing some of the best natural sites in Australia which is why we love it, and why we get upset by our government destroying it. One day I will make it to Russia !

I don't understand how you can hike up a thing like that without apparently even breaking a sweat. You must be super fit. I know it's not one of the sevens. But if you ever make it to the USA I think you'd have a great time hiking up Mt. Whitney.
Hi Eli, another hiking challenge when you're in Australia. Go to Tasmania and climb Frenchmans Cap or the more difficult Federation Peak. FP is the hardest hike up a mountain in Australia. You are very beautiful inside and out. Love your snowy Russian videos.
My great uncle, older brother of my paternal grandfather emigrated from UK to Aus in the late 19th century and married the daughter of an ex deportee (criminal), who claimed he was a doctor. It turned out he was prisoner on a ship from England and then when he finished his prison sentence in Tasmania, he studied medicine. He actually became a doctor in NSW and had family out there. Sadly no direct relations now in Aus, but I have my son-in-law's brother and the descendant of the "criminal", who I have met also and is a lovely Aussie. A cousin-in-law as we call ourselves. I can see the draw they got seeing this from your travels.
If you ever get to Scotland, I'd suggest the Quiraing on the Isle of Skye. There's spectacular views and challenging hiking, but I won't be like climbing a big mountain.
Years ago you could drive to an area just below the summit of our highest mountain. You got out of the car and went up about 10 steps and you were at the summit. Also years ago they had pink snow at Thredbo and on Kosciuszko. It happened when a cold front from the Southern Ocean and a dust storm from North Western Victoria collided. The red dust mixed with the water vapour and then fell as snow. I enjoy your travel blogs and the unbiased commentary. Enjoy your stay in Australia.

It has been poorly represented ,as far as dangers go. I've seen about 6 snakes in my 56 years of living in Australia ,so not really an issue, spider's, we spray our homes every couple of years ,so that is also something you rarely see. I lived in Canada for a year ,there are far more dangerous animals there.
The risks are exaggerated. Spiders and snakes will not attack if you leave them alone. Billions of people go swimming each year without encountering a shark. All these creatures are found in other countries too.
I’m amazed. I wasn’t even going to watch this video, but I have to admit that even though the subject isn’t very interesting, the video is so well done that it held my interest till the end.
Mount kosciuszko is part of what’s called the Great Dividing Range. The Great Dividing Range runs right up the east coast of Australia. So when you visited the Blue Mountains you were on the same mountain range. When I was going to school around 40 years ago, my school in Sydney took us to the snowy mountains where Mount kosciuszko is. During winter in Sydney it rarely snows, only maybe in the Blue Mountains, so going to the snowy mountains is the first time most kids in Australia see snow. When you were in the Blue Mountains it’s a pity that you didn’t go to see the Genolan Caves. You would have liked the Genolan Caves. A really amazing trip is going up the east coast of Australia by road especially if you travel the inland route to Charters Towers then east to Townsville. That is truly spectacular.

Great Video, I spent 12 years in Thredbo and spent many years working as a guide for school kids up to Kosi. I also built a lot of the Merritts walking track that you used to get out of the village. I hope you stopped in at Maccas rest on Merritts track. Love your videos and Lingopie. happy trails.
Eli, you are wonderful. In the first few minutes of this vid you highlighted some of the reasons why Australia is the best country in the world. You can travel in Australia without any ID. It's called freedom. It would be wonderful if your fellow countryman could all watch this video. I'm sure some of them would still not understand what it is to be a free person. btw I think Townsville is being a little slack with security. When ever I fly out of Rockhampton, where I live, I at least have to show photo ID such as a driver's licence. Then, at 3:40, you walk into Parliament House, surprised by its accessibility. I'm guessing that the access to Russia's Parliament is a little different. Then you play the words of the Australian national anthem. "Australians let us all rejoice, for we are young and free ...". In the space of 4 minutes you explain why we Aussies are so damn lucky. There are also some disgruntled Australians who also need to see this video. We should all be grateful that we don't live in a war zone. Thank you for making this video, like I said. you are wonderful.

You were lucky with the weather that day! In the high country, the weather can change in an instant. Storms, and even blizzards or snowfalls, can occur any time of the year. Canberra is a very multicultural city, with large communities of immigrants from all over the world, not just Asia.

You really dont understand how little of a challenge it is to walk to the top.
Its a made path because the alpine environment is fragile and a lot of people traffic use it. Can suddenly snow or get quite cold before November.

This mountain was named after the Polish/Byelorussian/Lithuanian national hero, Tadeusz Kościuszko. He fought in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth's struggles against Russia and Prussia. He led the 1794 Kościuszko Uprising.

Awesome Eli, the Australian High Country is amazing, but you should Definitely also visit Cradle Mountain in Tasmania, that is truly stunning. But don't hike there alone, as the weather is extremely volatile, and blizzards can occur, out of nowhere, even in the summer time. Eli, thanks for visiting my part of the world (I live in Canberra). In 1974, I drove an ordinary car to the top of Mt Kosciuszko. Later, the government tore up the road, to make it more of a challenge to climb to the top. The matting you walked on is used to preserve the soil and vegetation of the area.
Good on you Eli. I love how you pronounced Melbourne correctly.Bravo! I did the Kosciusko walk in April.I caught the chair lift from Thredbo to the start of the trail.One major bit of advice,make sure you have well fitting comfortable shoes.The first lookout about 20 minutes in was where I was considering turning back,as the shoes were abrading my heel and I was in a lot of pain.I grit my teeth and kept going until the lookout with the toilets and a sign saying another 40 min ,one way to the top.That's where thepain was too much and I turned back.At age 56 I'm very strong and fit,but boy is the walk hard.To add insult to injury, the car park was over a kilometre from the chairlift.My heel was in agony and my hips were frozen solid.But just for the scenery alone it was worth it.
All up there was 4 hours of walking, mostly up hill, so definitely not an easy stroll.My friend started the hike from the Perisher side and he said it is not as hard. So I plan at Christmas to do the walk again, but from Perisher, and hopefully complete the final section.I have since bought Saguaro Barefoot shoes so my feet should have no complaint.
P,S. The day after I went and did the Yarrangobilly River walk, in thongs, as my heel was an open wound.The final 1/2 hour of that walk was pure torture.A long,constant .steep uphill walk from the Thermal Pool.
I remember going to Jindabyne and Thredbo as a school kid way back in 1970. Very pleased you got out in some of our Australian bush of what we call the high country.

Allow me to add my comments on this State and Continent. You live very far from Europe, America, Asia. You cannot make an excursion, because there are dangers everywhere: snakes crocodiles, scorpions, and in the sea - dangerous jelly-fish. I have recently seen videos of the American Gabriel Traveller about Australia. He showed the town of Cairns in Queensland. He was careful about crocodiles when he went to the beaches and he read warnings about crocodiles. The beaches were empty, maybe it was not the high season, and I saw net enclosure in the see and on the sand against crocodiles. Two men from Bulgaria shared the following: A snake entered the washing machine in his home. The other man shared that he found big cock-roaches in the kitchen of his appartment in Sydney.
I once had a deadly snake crawl across my feet when I was pealing potatoes over a kitchen sink in Carnarvon Western Australia.
I was pushed off by my brother the wharf in the Northern Territory where we saw sharks and its riddled with crocodiles, I've never swam so fast
Australia is definitely an adventure, but don't be scared, its generally a very safe place.

We don’t have bears, large cats, wolves etc. almost every country in the world has snakes and spiders and the oceans of the world all contain sharks.
Crocs are only in the very top of Australia.
Our cities really don’t have any dangerous critters like any other big cities around the world.

There are more impressive mountains in Australia that aren't as high (mount feathertop) but in winter the snowies comes to it's own as a winter wonderland, we actually get more snow here in the alps than Switzerland.

Yes, and allegedly Edmund Hillary said Federation Peak (in Tassie) was Australia's only real mountain, probably because of how challenging it is. 🗻
More snow by area size...not by volume.
A lot of those scenic vegetation shots may have been done in a hurry, but they looked like elaborate vistas that took a long time to set up. Exceptionally professional artistry was the result. If you put a chopstick on each side of your middle finger and then work the leverage, you might find it easier to eat the Oriental way. Don't feel bad about bungling with the method--- I met a Korean lady who was about 45 and still didn't know how to eat with chopsticks. Kosciuszko was a big hero in the American Revolution, valued highly by George Washington and Thomas Jefferson both. His engineering genius with fortifications at the Battle of Saratoga in 1777 helped turn the whole war in favor of the colonists, and his foundational work at West Point gave the U.S. Army a place that trains officers to this day.

Your videos seek out interesting places even locals don't visit-my parents came from Toowoomba but in nearly 80 years I have never been to Dalby, much less Chinchilla. Thanks for taking me there and to the (low level) roof of Australia-most houses, at least in the country and it used to be so in the cities, are single-storey! Your production values and music selection are superior to most other vlogs and, as for those RUclipsrs who can still get viewers to listen to rambling monologues or merely repeat the same inaccurate cliches...enough said. A single viewing of each of your episodes is not enough for me.

It's great that you're exploring the real Australia. So many vloggers just go to Sydney or Melbourne and think that that's it. All big cities are much the same. Looks like a lot of infrastructure around the mountain now. When I used to go there there was very little there apart from the road and the rocks.
I knew you'd enjoy Australia, Hope you get to Ularu and Kata Tjuta (in winter not summer).
The walk up to the top of Kosciuszko either can be a very pleasant walking in Summer, or a rather windy and unpleasant one in winter. If you go from Thredbo in winter, it is a good idea to check the weather at the top of the chair lift.

You are seeing some of the best natural sites in Australia which is why we love it, and why we get upset by our government destroying it. One day I will make it to Russia !

I don't understand how you can hike up a thing like that without apparently even breaking a sweat. You must be super fit. I know it's not one of the sevens. But if you ever make it to the USA I think you'd have a great time hiking up Mt. Whitney.

Hi Eli, another hiking challenge when you're in Australia. Go to Tasmania and climb Frenchmans Cap or the more difficult Federation Peak. FP is the hardest hike up a mountain in Australia. You are very beautiful inside and out. Love your snowy Russian videos.

My great uncle, older brother of my paternal grandfather emigrated from UK to Aus in the late 19th century and married the daughter of an ex deportee (criminal), who claimed he was a doctor. It turned out he was prisoner on a ship from England and then when he finished his prison sentence in Tasmania, he studied medicine. He actually became a doctor in NSW and had family out there. Sadly no direct relations now in Aus, but I have my son-in-law's brother and the descendant of the "criminal", who I have met also and is a lovely Aussie. A cousin-in-law as we call ourselves.

If you ever get to Scotland, I'd suggest the Quiraing on the Isle of Skye. There's spectacular views and challenging hiking, but I won't be like climbing a big mountain.
Years ago you could drive to an area just below the summit of our highest mountain. You got out of the car and went up about 10 steps and you were at the summit.
Also years ago they had pink snow at Thredbo and on Kosciuszko. It happened when a cold front from the Southern Ocean and a dust storm from North Western Victoria collided. The red dust mixed with the water vapour and then fell as snow.

It has been poorly represented ,as far as dangers go.
I've seen about 6 snakes in my 56 years of living in Australia ,so not really an issue, spider's, we spray our homes every couple of years ,so that is also something you rarely see.
I lived in Canada for a year ,there are far more dangerous animals there.
The risks are exaggerated. Spiders and snakes will not attack if you leave them alone. Billions of people go swimming each year without encountering a shark. All these creatures are found in other countries too.
Alan, it's best you don't visit as you seem a timid chap. It's quite an event to see a snake and, unless cornered, snakes are more timid than you.
I'm not so scared of the snakes and spiders but I am scared of the police😬they don't seem to like the people having freedom👍

I’m amazed. I wasn’t even going to watch this video, but I have to admit that even though the subject isn’t very interesting, the video is so well done that it held my interest till the end.
Mount kosciuszko is part of what’s called the Great Dividing Range. The Great Dividing Range runs right up the east coast of Australia.
So when you visited the Blue Mountains you were on the same mountain range.
When I was going to school around 40 years ago, my school in Sydney took us to the snowy mountains where Mount kosciuszko is.
During winter in Sydney it rarely snows, only maybe in the Blue Mountains, so going to the snowy mountains is the first time most kids in Australia see snow.
When you were in the Blue Mountains it’s a pity that you didn’t go to see the Genolan Caves. You would have liked the Genolan Caves.
A really amazing trip is going up the east coast of Australia by road especially if you travel the inland route to Charters Towers then east to Townsville. That is truly spectacular.

Great Video, I spent 12 years in Thredbo and spent many years working as a guide for school kids up to Kosi. I also built a lot of the Merritts walking track that you used to get out of the village. I hope you stopped in at Maccas rest on Merritts track. Love your videos and Lingopie. happy trails.

Eli, you are wonderful. In the first few minutes of this vid you highlighted some of the reasons why Australia is the best country in the world. You can travel in Australia without any ID. It's called freedom. It would be wonderful if your fellow countryman could all watch this video. I'm sure some of them would still not understand what it is to be a free person.
btw I think Townsville is being a little slack with security. When ever I fly out of Rockhampton, where I live, I at least have to show photo ID such as a driver's licence.
Then, at 3:40, you walk into Parliament House, surprised by its accessibility. I'm guessing that the access to Russia's Parliament is a little different. Then you play the words of the Australian national anthem. "Australians let us all rejoice, for we are young and free ...".
In the space of 4 minutes you explain why we Aussies are so damn lucky. There are also some disgruntled Australians who also need to see this video. We should all be grateful that we don't live in a war zone. Thank you for making this video, like I said. you are wonderful.

You were lucky with the weather that day! In the high country, the weather can change in an instant. Storms, and even blizzards or snowfalls, can occur any time of the year. Canberra is a very multicultural city, with large communities of immigrants from all over the world, not just Asia.
