@Jagstaldincola We had plenty of tape. The tour manager came in and signaled that it was time for Mikael to go to sound check. I would have loved to have kept jamming for days, but of course we had to respect the time we had - which Mikael was very gracious with and we are thankful for! This was without a doubt one of the most memorable musical experiences I've had in my life - thanks for checking it out!
Ivan man I have been following you since the days of Berklee jams you did and posted on you tube of LTE and now seeing this is just awesome you and Mikael rock man :D Opeth RULZZZZZ
Yeah definitely, I wasn't criticizing at all. Obviously the same chord progressions are used in countless songs, but it just struck me that an Opeth song and an Eminem song sounded so similar. It's all about how you arrange it, and Mikael came up with a wonderful melody for it.
music is inside the soul, not in the academy :) i agree with you all. many trained musician just dont have the proper perception of music so they play without cause, motive, felling, purpose, story ...
@kirbster Wait, wait wait. Are you seriously suggesting that Mikael immitated Eminem? Is that what you are seriously suggesting? (Thise is not a rhetorical question)
lmfao guys, I'm a big Opeth fan and all, but this chord progression Mikael teaches in the beginning, I'm pretty sure, is the one used in Eminem's song "Marshall Mathers"...
Mikael is a genius and a great guy. It's sad that he will never get the recognition he deserves.
mikael is just a genius writing songs like this ! you just have to admire !
