This was a show I watched as a kid, lots of fun childhood memories are filled for me. It's also got my favorite design of Optimus, and the transformations, while cheesy and stock, are just so fun to watch, especially with the sound effects. It's a lot of fun and even though it's not the best, I still hold it in high regard. This is neat for short little bites and reviews, but personally I'm more of a fan of Cherished/Ruined forever formats. I _love_ hearing your full thoughts on things and what you have to say about them in depth. Tai is also very cute.
it really is a shame that rid was the only show sky byte appeared in, because i would love to see him in more tf stuff (please let him be in cyberverse. then that show might be good)

Awesome video for a good series. Back in late September 2017, I had the opportunity to meet Skybyte's voice actor in a pub in London. He signed my Generations Skybyte figure and my Robots In Disguise DVDs for NOTHING! We chatted and drank alcohol together. Ah good times and one I will remember for eternity.
The best thing about R.I.D. 2001 was that Galvatron toy which had ten alt modes. It was one of the first TF toys I owned as a child. then i broke it whoops
The U.S. release of Megatron (RiD 2001) actually uses the Galvatron (or rather, Devil Gigatron) mold, which was just a slight retooling of the Gigatron mold. Guess they figured, why bother with the original? Didn't bother me, any. :)

My guess is that Takara didn't have the original Gigatron mold anymore, having modified it for Devil Gigatron, so that's what Hasbro had to use when releasing RiD into the US. Either way, RiD Megatron *can* transform into all ten of Galvatron's/Devil Gigatron's modes, they just didn't advertise it that way. This RiD is probably also responsible for the "Galvatron is Megatron recolored" habit that the Unicron trilogy fell into - although in RiD's case, giving Galvatron four more modes at least justified the recolor, unlike the UT.
Just from what you've shown of skybyte, im convinced to find the series and watch it. And to look for the generations deluxe toy they put out a few years back.

I grew up on R.I.D. 2001 and it wasn't a bad anime. I always enjoyed the multiple transformations of Megatron/Galvatron and I also enjoyed watching Omega Prime, Rail Racer, Landfill, Fortress Maximus and the rest of the cast. If I remember correctly, there was an animation error where Wedge, the leader of the Build Team, is mistakenly called Landfill.

rid 2001 is fun, honestly. and scourge started the evil optimus/nemesis prime cashgrab storm that followed rid 2001. so now you know who to blame for the black optimus repaint money vacuum.
This series was, and still is, one of my favourite series out of them all! Thanks for having a look at it and giving it a good analysis also! Keep up the good work man!

And RID was the second transformers series I ever watched, even younger me thought Koji was whining to much but I still keep my love of Skybyte. I would recommend watching the Abridged series of RID it has mature humour and it grows on you very fast.
RiD's toyline was mostly a placeholder before the Unicron trilogy came out, mostly of a lot repaints from other toy lines. Scourge for example is a black repaint of an older Optimus Prime toy, which I admit is pretty clever. In fact the only villain who isn't a repaint is Megatron. The show feels mostly the same as the toyline, a placeholder that is alright but nothing that stands out much aside from Skybyte.
Oh man, this show was my childhood, enjoyed watching it whenever it came on, despite how corny it is looking back at it. Great short and sweet vid. Sky-yte was amazing. XD although I was a fan of Scourge :D

I used to watch this. I only owned the first 10 episodes as a kid. I still own them, they're just... somewhere. But this is how I was introduced to Transformers and Anime at the same time. This show will always hold a place in my heart. 7/10
I support this new series 100%. TF RID is not talked about enough. It was the second TF show I ever watched and am upset it's mostly forgotten about as SkyByte is also one of my favourite TF characters ever. Thanks, this made me very nostalgic. .

Skybyte basically fills in the role for Starscream. Minus the backstabbing, but I attribute that more to the writing than anything else.
