Payson - These are the best kind of videos, race recaps from inside the action. Anyone willing to carry a camera and capture it is a hero in my book. The coverage for gravel races is pretty sparse and tbh, this kind of footage is way better than seeing the race from a helicopter or something. I was on the edge of my seat in the single track. Also appreciate the honesty about yelling at guys and stuff. Please keep doing these!
Thank you for sharing. I am 60 years old and getting back into bike riding, setting a goal to do a 100-mile race in the future. The video helps me understand what I need to do and work on.
Awesome coverage. Unfortunate finish but hilarious when you got ok the wheel of the guy with the 180 rpm cadence. Was thinking that was how he rolled....
Stillwater local that rides that red trail often. For the past year I have wanted to see footage from the pros' perspective going through the single track of the race. Your video delivered beautifully and was a very fun watch. Good luck with your season, Payson!
IMO gravel needs all sorts more of stuff like this! Was sick to watch you guys ripping, and no doubt you’re gonna be up there this year payson! Go get em!
Outstanding! I'm 73 and have done all the LandRun/MidSouths since the inception but for 2017. Although I have finished seven of them, I've never known what goes on at the front of the race. Kudos for you this year and your previous successes. (This year I finished a bit behind you at 10:41 and change. LOL) Bobby talked me into doing the first one with my only bike a Peugeot UO8. "Oh," says Bobby, "that'll be fine with this little knobby 28mm tires." Wrong!
These videos are absolutely epic. As a viewer it’s brilliant to be able to immerse yourself in the action at the pointy end of a race. Commentary is also brilliant, wish those go-pros captured more than 30 mins!! 🔥🔥🔥
Great video. This is not only entertaining, but useful info for someone like myself who is just getting into gravel. Your commentary is excellent-the information flows at just the right pace and the tone is very courteous and respectful. Well done. I would definitely watch more of these.
Thank you for the inside view from the lead group. I just felt gutted when you had to stop and so near the end. Thanks for the commentary. It really helps to understand what you are experiencing. Having so many vehicles on the course and then that pickup crossing… that’s just crazy. Here we have an annual half marathon race that used to be scheduled so that you had to average better than 9:00 pace or be stopped by a train crossing. Even when the trains were short, it was more than 2:00 minutes just standing.
hey Payson, thanks so much for posting this. The speed just blows my mind. Great footage and commentary. This is awesome. All the best to you for your upcoming races and beyond!
LOVED this Payson! I ride these gravel events in the party zone finishing way behind you, but love to experience what happens in the lead group. So fantastic to see the end of the pointy end of the race. Thank you and please keep making these!!
This was awesome. So fun to have a front seat to how the front of these races go. The commentary was very insightful and well delivered. Please do more in the future!
I’ve been searching for days on getting some insight on this event and yours is the first one! Can’t express my gratitude in your efforts to bring us right into the event! And the hot group on the day! Your staying power and positioning is lovely to watch! It was also so so nice to see Ted King mixing it up! What a legend for giving the 2024 season a real shot! Glad you mentioned him. To be honest the sketchy crap you guys deal with is a very mental draining issue, I’ve now had a front seat view on how close you guys get to almost crashing. Anyways, this format gets my vote! Your keep sharpening your craft, and soon a massive victory is on the cards. You are carrying great conditioning, lol after your health and stay upright! All the best for 2024!
As others have said - I really appreciate the coverage from the front and the narration to go along with it. Very few of us normal riders get to see much of what racing at the front is like. Your insights and commentary are also very interesting in terms of tactics, how you're feeling, on course chatter, etc. Thanks so much for sharing - your efforts are appreciated.
Payson, thanks for your efforts in shooting this video and giving your honest perspective of the front of the race. I appreciate what you are doing here!
Yes, please do more of the onboard camera footage with post-ride narration. A super informative and inspiring way to see the pointy end of a race! Thanks for all the work that goes into it.
I absolutely loved this video!! Please keep doing them as long as you can stomach the extra work. It’s so interesting to get inside the mindset of the hitters at the front and understanding the mindset you (and others) use. Bummer about the flat. Great video.
Excellent. Yes, this format is awesome. Keep hanging with the front groups and post your commentary, especially when you take the sprint finishes this season.
Thank you for posting and providing your commentary. I know it is time-consuming and may open a wound or two. I enjoyed it and hope you have better luck next time out.
Keep up the videos. As a 50-mile guy who did hike-a-bike on much of the single track (while staying out of the way of faster riders), it was fun to see how the pros do it.
I'm just now getting into biking, mostly mountain biking and now bikepacking. This video was really intrigueing. I love the fact you can listen the sound of the video while you narrate. I'd watch more of these. Thanks for sharing. I'm thinking of doing a gravel race this summer just from watching this video.
Thanks for bringing us to work with you. Love the commentary. It's great to get a peek into what actually goes on at the pointy end of these races. If it makes sense and you enjoy doing these, we'd love to see more! Cheers!
This was cool. Amazing how fast you guys are going past the 50milers. I remember seeing a couple guys blow past me at Gravel Locos Pueblo a couple years ago. Very humbling...but also great to see. Thanks for doing it!!! More please! Even if taking jabs at Dylan Johnson 😂
Great video! Appreciate you taking the time to give the insights and commentary! Follow Joe Goettl’s lead and bring a few extra batteries anyway, well done… 👍
I happened to be doing a Rouvy workout on my other screen but found this way more motivating, the single track was especially engrossing! Enjoyed your commentary as well. Bum luck!
Love this type of look into the front end of the racing that I won't ever see at the back of the pack. I did this race last year and getting to see the lead groups tactics and pace on sections I remember vividly is really great. Thanks for putting these together.
Payson these are great and would love to see as much as you can share that does not distract from your race. We rarely get to see long form blow for blow action, LTGP needs more of this coverage for men AND women. Thanks!

This continuous video format is by far the most engaging. Great performance, impressive speed in the single track.
Thank you for sharing. I am 60 years old and getting back into bike riding, setting a goal to do a 100-mile race in the future. The video helps me understand what I need to do and work on.
We’ve all been waiting for a front grouper to carry a camera! Thanks man. The dude pedaling 120 cadence trying to finish had me rofl😅
Guilty as charged, charge your Di2 kids.
“I’m sure he’s done his research.”
Love Dylan but this had me rolling.
Please keep these coming!
Same
Awesome coverage. Unfortunate finish but hilarious when you got ok the wheel of the guy with the 180 rpm cadence. Was thinking that was how he rolled....
Payson I really appreciate the video and commentary at the front of the race, I wish there was more of this at all the races.
As a non pro casual racer, these are what I’ve been trying to find forever. The tactics and voiceover are great. Keep it coming!
Loved it. 34 minutes of exciting footage coupled with insightful narration.
Please sir, I want some more!
I think this format (race footage with voiceover) is much more engaging and relatable than plain action cam footage.
Thanks Payson for showing us the front of the race. Enjoying the video and commentary. Would love to see more videos like this in the future!
I LOVE that you record the end of the race. So fun to watch since the majority of us will never be in that mixup. Thank you for doing this.
Stillwater local that rides that red trail often. For the past year I have wanted to see footage from the pros' perspective going through the single track of the race. Your video delivered beautifully and was a very fun watch. Good luck with your season, Payson!
Mid South event team member here! Thanks for the shout outs and the commentary on Lake McMurtury! We are stoked to share this with you guys!
LOVED the singletrack section!
Seeing the speed vs the 50 milers 😮
Such a great recap and view from in the mix. Love the commentary!
Please keep ‘em coming!!!
Please, continue doing it!!! So well narrated🙌
IMO gravel needs all sorts more of stuff like this! Was sick to watch you guys ripping, and no doubt you’re gonna be up there this year payson! Go get em!

Thanks for sharing sir! Really enjoying seeing the action at the front of these races
Payson, you a great job of commentating your races. I really enjoy them. Please keep doing so!
Really enjoyed the race footage. It's amazing how fast you guys ride, especially the single track section.
Loved it. Please do again. Appreciate the effort.
I really enjoy this format. SUPER fun to hear you talk about live action and see the pedaling styles and strength in person of all these riders!
Nice! A great way to see the action in the lead group.
Great video. This is not only entertaining, but useful info for someone like myself who is just getting into gravel. Your commentary is excellent-the information flows at just the right pace and the tone is very courteous and respectful. Well done. I would definitely watch more of these.
Thanks for letting an old guy vicariously relive the glory days.
Thank you for the inside view from the lead group. I just felt gutted when you had to stop and so near the end. Thanks for the commentary. It really helps to understand what you are experiencing. Thanks for sharing…well done. Keep them coming!
This is great Payson, love seeing and hearing what is going on in the race. Along with the commentary these are excellent.
These are great, commentary is what brings the simple vid to life. Tough luck on the flat!
Very cool to see the insides of the front end of this race! Super interesting insights and fascinating to watch the race dynamics unfold
LOVED this Payson! I ride these gravel events in the party zone finishing way behind you, but love to experience what happens in the lead group. So fantastic to see the end of the pointy end of the race. Thank you and please keep making these!!
Payson, love the video! Sorry about the flat. That stinks. Please continue doing these. The front group tactics and your perspectives are fantastic!
Incredible footage especially through the singletrack. Unbelievable speeds. Thank you for sharing it. Downright scary and riveting!
This was awesome. So fun to have a front seat to how the front of these races go. The commentary was very insightful and well delivered. Please do more in the future!

Great work, Payson. Easy to watch and listen to. Helped me actually enjoy my trainer workout as the unexpected snow was fall in here in north Idaho.
Really enjoyed seeing the race from the front and hearing the commentary. Very well done!
Yea dude, this is it. This is sick footage and the commentary elevates it a ton. Seemed like a sick course this year.
As others have said - I really appreciate the coverage from the front and the narration to go along with it. Very few of us normal riders get to see much of what racing at the front is like. This was a great recap of the race, really enjoy the narration with what's going on in the moment.
good coverage. good voiceover. as an injured/recovering racer it’s good to “feel” like we are right there in the mix. peace
Thanks for the commentary. I liked it so much I watched it twice!
Super fun and inspiring to watch! Appreciate all the work and candor.
Loved the video and commentary.
This was so fun to watch, Payson. Thanks for sharing!
Really enjoyed the video. As someone who is newer to racing, I enjoy seeing what’s happening in those front groups
Thank you for sharing this video. Crazy how fast you guys are riding. Impressive

Payson, keep doing them. The style is good, and your commewntary adds a lot. Good job!
Super grateful for you taking the time to narrate, edit, yadayadayada….watched with my 15 year MTBer to light his gravel fire. Success! Subbed myself!
Nice to see front group dynamics ! Keep em coming !
Thanks for the video and what it is like at the sharp end of a race.
Please keep these coming!
Here after watching the Drew Dillman version of this. I like the interactions and see a rivalry forming.
Cool to see the sharp end of the Mid-South 100. Thanks.
I'm just now getting into biking, mostly mountain biking and now bikepacking. This video was really intrigueing. I love the fact you can listen the sound of the video while you narrate. Super Cool! Thanks for sharing! My son Mark Myles raced with you guys in the main group until right when you started filming. Keep ON keepin ON!

Thrilling! Closest I’ll ever be to the front of the race is through your lens. Thank you.
This was a really interesting point of view. That single track looked amazing!
Yes. Make more. Found this from your podcast. It's really fun to watch and hear racing insights. Thank you.
