  • This is a motorola international 8700 microTAC from 1996. This operates on GSM900 so can still be used with a regular standard GSM sim card as most cellular providers who operate 4G LTE or 3G networks also operate 2G GSM900 networks.
    This phone can NOT be used in the Americas or Canada.
    Check out some of my other videos about other GSM microtacs that you can use in the Americas and Canada as well as some videos about microtacs that you can use in Europe, Asia, Africa and the middle East.
    At the time of uploading this video this phone can still be used in Australia however that is likely to change in the near future.
    Another giveaway coming soon......
    make sure you've watched all the videos and subscribed.

    I recently found and joined your channel. All your videos i've seen are great. I love the old Motorola phones a lot. Keep up and thank you for all these "vintage hours"... I have never seen a Nokia E90 as new as this; wow!

      @BrickCellphones  8 лет назад +1

      thanks for the interest and your support. E90 is the last in the communicator series of phones. Not many were sold because by then there were already smart phones with touchscreens and people prefered those to a clamshell commicator nokia.

      Just an idea for a future video... Nokia 8110. It is so rare to find a good video presentation for this phone.

    • @BrickCellphones
      @BrickCellphones  8 лет назад +1

      Oh the 8110 and 8146 are legendary phones in their own right.....but they are not technically bricks. I do have a pair of 8110's somewhere and will eventually do a video about them even though I consider them to be quite small in size

    • @it9997
      @it9997 8 лет назад

      BrickCellphones they are not bricks. But because your videos are top (production) quality, i believe these phones deserve the exception. Thank you again for all these memory lane trips you offered me so far! Keep up!

      Ah thanks....but my youtube videos aren't really that good!! I'm sure there is better out there....maybe not for the nokia 8110 but for some others! I will do a video of the 8110/8146 next year when I have more time to look for it in storage. Oct, nov, dec and january are extremely busy months for me because of travel and other projects.

      Well this channel has been going for over 3.5 years.....but I don't advertise or do any social media so it's all by people discovering it themselves. That way you don't get people subscribing just for the competitions and free stuff. you actually get geniune people interested in old phones.

    One thing I have found using similar vintage phones as my everyday phone, is that even with the volume cranked up to its max setting they are not awfully loud - so can be difficult to use in a noisy place. It was probably some more years brfore the loudspeaker function got invented?
    DM

    • @BrickCellphones
      @BrickCellphones  8 лет назад

      I find actually the opposite. My motorola MR601 is so loud that you don't need a loudspeaker mode....I tend to have it on the 2nd lowest earpeice volume if i'm holding the phone to my head.
      The reason is that the bigger older phones have bigger speakers for the earpeice because back then who cared about weight or size....phones didn't need to be 6mm thick like some smart phones. They were built to work....not to look good!
      maybe you have some dust or something blocking the speaker? I've had that in a nokia 2010 many years ago.

    • @danMdan
      @danMdan 8 лет назад

      And my 74 year old hearing is perhaps a trifle down on its teenage years ! StarTAC 70 and mr30 are not real bad, - just not as loud as I'd like - even on full volume and held right against my left ear !

    • @BrickCellphones
      @BrickCellphones  8 лет назад

      my hearing isn't the best either but I manage!!! But yeah mr30's don't have speaker functions nor do startacs.

    • @kerozin520
      @kerozin520 8 лет назад

      Startac is not that bad at least 130 but many old phones have very low earpiece volume compared to modern ones. Think the reason is echo cancellation was not as robust as today.

    • @danMdan
      @danMdan 8 лет назад

      An interesting theory. And anyone else make a point of the regular use of a vintage phone ?

    What kind of Sim card those use? May use any one to get on service?

    • @BrickCellphones
      @BrickCellphones  8 лет назад

      the motorola 8700 uses standard SIM cards but NOT sim cards for iPhones. you also need the credit card size adapter. see my video about that here:
      ruclips.net/video/OZR80mVcDb8/видео.html
      It will work with standard SIM and mini SIM - it will NOT work with apple iPhone SIM or any SIM which works in iPhone (uSIM). SIM cards that work in samsung galaxy or HTC are ok - you just need a sim adapter.
      what country are you in? I can check which provider are compatible with this phone.

    Could you do a Motorola 1000 or 2700 video, there are not any good videos explaining how it works

    • @BrickCellphones
      @BrickCellphones  8 лет назад

      I thought I'd already done videos for both of those.....but actually looking back I might not have uploaded or published them for some reason. I have a boxed 1000 but I don't think I have a boxed 2700. Will have a look but will probably be in the new year now.

    where can i get this

    • @BrickCellphones
      @BrickCellphones  8 лет назад +1

      well you can't get this very one as it's not for sale but I could sell you the dual band 8900 equivalent of this phone. The 8700 is SINGLE band.....the 8900 is DUAL band. obviously dual band is better as it will work in more places. email me directly if you're interested.

    hey mate i just recently found someone sell a Motorola International 8700 for IDR 750.000 ($56) is it worth the price because right now i am very interested

    • @BrickCellphones
      @BrickCellphones  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Rizar, well if the 8700 is fully unlocked with unlock code and the SIM service restriction has been removed then yeah of course it is worth it if you want the phone. If you obviously don't want the phone or use the phone then it's 56 bucks wasted!!! Also remember that you'll need to get a good battery and that will probably cost you more than the 56 bucks for the phone.

    • @rizaradri316
      @rizaradri316 7 лет назад

      BrickCellphones thanks for the reply well the seller says the phone is unlocked, battery lasting for 1 day also free desktop charger

    • @BrickCellphones
      @BrickCellphones  8 лет назад

      What would you like to buy?? the boxed 8700 is not for sale but I do have an 8900 / MR601 for sale fully unlocked. That would probably suit your needs better as that phone is dual band GSM900/GSM1800 where as the 8700 is single band. if you're interested then email me on the usual email address please.
      If you want a boxed 8700 there is actually one on ebay right now but it's 150 pounds. :-(

    • @TheOnionYo
      @TheOnionYo 8 лет назад

      Great the 8900 is perfect :p I'm located in canada. Would ship here :) please

    • @BrickCellphones
      @BrickCellphones  8 лет назад

      The 8900 is GSM900 /GSM1800.....if you're in Canada then you will not be able to use that !!! If you a flip phone like that which is compatible with canadia cellular providers like Telus or rogers etc then you'll need a motorola select 6000e phone....which works on GSM 1900 (nineteen hundred) as opposed to GSM 900 (nine hundred). I've shipped to canada before - it's not a problem. you need to know which phone you want though....I presume you'll want to place and receive calls?

    • @TheOnionYo
      @TheOnionYo 8 лет назад

      Exactly I really appreciate the knowledge. I would like to be able to call so I'm guessing 600e if you have it

      Why would I pay you 45 bucks??? what for?? I'm happy to help you if I can but I'm definitely not paying to help you out!!!
      thats a first!!! What are the symptoms? have you put a SIM in it? does it pick up service or not?
