      Er no, DFI still being used. Hx aside - who cares - .1 turbos feature spun cams and coolant line failure. Plus .2 are MUCH rarer.
      Slam dunk for 997.2 TT

      @@deanhart8154 Coolant pipes weirdly don't seem to be an issue in the UK, but I did mine when the engine was out for something else and it was only £1200, a trivial sum for a performance car. Spun cam is rare, I don't personally know any owner who has experienced it but of course when it happens we see queries posted online. So yes, it does happen, but I've tracked mine all over the world, racking up 54000 miles and no issues so far.
      Again, it's just a case of budgeting £4000, which is not a lot in performance car terms. DFI are great cars but if one is a collector, then one will tend to focus on the GT engines, from a pedigree perspective. But all Turbos are special in their own way and I've tended to buy them all over the years, but only kept the 997.1. Which one do you have?

    Beautiful car....but I think we all know the manual is the collectable one (the first PDK's will age like tiptronic's). Preference goes to the .1 myself, though there were considerably less .2 turbo's made. But that Metzger engine..., and perhaps I prefer (slightly) the back lights.

    • @carcaveofficial

      I agree, the manual will always be more collectible, unless Porsche randomly decides to gives us a manual Turbo again which is unlikely…

      Heads up, the rear wing is the Factory Aero Kit wing, a Porsche part, but Porsche of Carlsbad (original selling dealer) believes this was deed later. This wing is fixed, not operable like the stock wing. I’ve bought a stock wing and rear trunk lid to bring it back to stock. Pending the swap and paint.

    He says that the side vents provide the “necessary cooling air to the engine” when in fact these vents provide the air to the turbos. The rear grille on top of the engine provides the naturally aspirated air to the engine.

    • @GUMBLLnz
      @GUMBLLnz Год назад +4

      Side vents provide air to the intercoolers (not turbos) with the air exit through the rear bumper side vents. These are not for engine cooling as mentioned. Air intake for the car is from the rear deck lid vent.

    Functional rear exhaust pipes??? Vs non-functional exhaust???

    • @carcaveofficial
      @carcaveofficial  3 месяца назад

      Mercedes-Benz has exhaust ports that are square and in no way connected to the actual exhaust, just a plastic trim piece to change the appearance of the exhaust. Many manufacturer's including Porsche today, do this, that is what I was referring to.

    • @insansiregar6158
      @insansiregar6158 2 месяца назад

      @@gregs8685I just found out that's an aftermarket TechArt Type I 1 wing, because the Aero Kit is only available for 991 and 992 as far as I know, and when I Googled 997 Aero Kit it didn't show up.
