Ivo, what exactly is the setup for this rig, from sinker to swivel and from hook to swivel . Do you use the same rig on the Queenston Docks, and how far you throw the rig from the shore from both locations. Ty
Great videos I to so glad I found this channel I live in niagara and grew up on little niagara river n y so awesome to see you fish these spots I fished there in the 70 we called it turners hole in a boat my father is a river rat from the 1930 s.until he went to world war 2 great job iVo thankyou
Watching your Steelhead videos on the Niagra makes me so homesick for the St Joe. Some beautiful Steelhead there and some awesome table fare to boot tight lines you guys
Hi Nice to see both after a long time. I think this post is after a long time, missing the same . I am regularly watching your post, they are absolutely fantastic. Each post of yours gives me so sort of motivation and encouragement. I am into hand made lure hobby. Thanks, Raghubir
Hello IVO - Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr that water must be freezing standing it for a long period of time - yet most likely you and the boat less angler ( Antonio ) are dressed warm enough . . . glad to see you tool along your net in this video ( lol )
Thanks a lot brother Ivo. for another nice and informative video. I watch your videos regularly and repeatedly. I love them. I will b thankful to you if u Can tell me how to get to this spot. I live in Toronto ON.
Do steelhead run up the upper niagara from lake erie? Seems counter intuitive to be swimming with the current to spawn plus they risk flopping over the falls if they go too far right >_
the steelhead eggs don't come from the river. They are hatched in trays then fed pellets for a year before they become food for cormorants and walleye. Besides that natural selection will dictate whether or not the fish will survive into maturity. That is what makes the steely the most well adapted fish in lake erie. I don't know what the story is on the canadian side. but it seems canada has better river systems for natural fish than here in ohio or pennsylvania down the highway.
Hey Ivo! From your many videos I've learned roe bag bottom bouncing and stingeyes are great for steelhead and salmon. I'm moving to Washington state and am new to fishing. What are some good rod/reel specs for those fish? I have a Shimano Sienna spin combo with a Sienna 2500fe reel. It's 6'6", medium power, with fast action. I'm a boat-less angler, so I really appreciate your series. Tight lines!
Hi John...you will catch many on your 6 ft 6-inch medium action rod...a 7 or 7 1/2 would be better, but certainly not required, especially if you have a good reel with a good drag system :)
Hi Ivo, I am new to bottom bouncing, need to advice on the rig setup. I watched couple of your videos and setup a T-turn rig with 5.6# on the sinker and 4.6# strength for the hook (both of them are fluorocarbon line). Every time I pulled it out of the water, I noticed that the line is twisted badly... hmm... could you advice on the type of lines to use.
fluorocarbon line or mono are both good to use as a leader or as a mainline and you can use the same strength to your hook and to your sinker, but if you go lighter on the sinker line, and get hung up, you only lose the sinker line and not the whole rig :)
Excellent demonstration of legit 'bottom bouncing' versus the out and out flossing/snagging that happens in our local BC waters. Ironic that a great lakes guy legit bottom bounces for illegitimate 'steelhead' ;)
@@patrickfuller6018 I use mine mostly for throwing slip bobbers for browns, I bumped up to a 10'6" Shakespeare wild series ultra light for salmon. That's a blast.

Been subscribed for a while and you guys don't mention what rods and reels you use! Thanks for letting us know about how you're rigged but let us know what gear too!
....I use a variety of different rods and reels, from Pfluger, to Quantum to Salt Striker to Diawa etc....the reel should be the size you want and in your budget, regardless of brand, and here are a few tips to consider, which are important to buying a reel: ruclips.net/video/5z5LwJS3G0o/видео.html As for a rod, please consider these tips and then pick out the rod in your budget: ruclips.net/video/2QEz6ECaBSo/видео.html
you should try for muskie on the upper niagara, I see a lot of people fishing for them, but there isnt much information about how to fish for them ( in terms of a fishing show, techniques etc), I know people like to use tubes ( I dont think you can even get them on the canadian side though). Being that this is probably the only place to fish for muskie without driving for several hours, its a little surprising no show has dared to target them. There is a video of a dude catching 7 in one day but, its very amateur and barely explained anything, maybe by design.
we do know the area from experience, but anywhere along the Niagara River, both Upper and Lower, make for great fishing - so just fish where you are comfortable and do not worry if you can not walk out that far....any distance out is still a bonus as it means you can cover that much more deeper water :)
Great video
Im so Happy that you run this channel...... thank you ivo. Regards from Germany. Please keep up the Great work.
...great to hear from you in Germany Dirk and all the best for a great year on the water :)
Nice job guys
Cute net
Beautiful fish
Hi Ivo, when we exactly can start fishing for trout in November , at beginning, middle on this place.Ty
Depends on the year, but typically mid-November (this year would be mid to late November) Good luck on the water :)
Ivo, what exactly is the setup for this rig, from sinker to swivel and from hook to swivel . Do you use the same rig on the Queenston Docks, and how far you throw the rig from the shore from both locations. Ty
From the T-Turn, That rig was 14 inches to the sinker and 12 inches to the hook
what length and action rod do you use for bottom bouncing the niagara river?
I like to use a 7 1/2 foot, once PC, medium action/power rod
Hay Evo, is there a spot equal to that spot on the upper American side of river?
...the only area I know of would be the shoreline between Strawberry Island and that marina up-stream

I want to fish that area of the Niagara what area is that ?
Looks like right near the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie. You can see the bridge at 3:00
They are under the power lines. That is on Niagara and Queen Street. There is a park there.
....looks like you got some great feedback from a couple of our fantastic subscribers :) Thanks for answering guys :)

How do you find walkout spots like that? Trial and error? Doesn't it drop like 2 feet from where your standing?
They are native of Niagara.
