Frank is the captain and owns the boat and he asking you " what do you want me to do "? Your answer should have been " let us off this boat "

By that point we wanted to leave but we had committed to helping him cross and decided to honor that. But the evening we reached Portugal we moved into a hotel and haven’t looked back. Sailing wasn’t for us 😟

Well, this is certainly an eventful journey and you will have lots of memories and probably learn a lot too. Best of luck.

It was eventful 😏 and some good lessons learned, first that we’re sticking with our trawler 😀

Incredible how that captain survived in life…

The captain is not a good sailor and although we refer to him as a captain he’s not certified and therefore no more than a boat owner. This journey should never have happened in the first place and we realize now that we had guardian angels protecting us the entire way 🙏

The captain of course is responsible. Poor guy trying to pull up the anchor deserves credit. This gal was patient, but, how many times do women expect men to solve the problem, then offer nothing but criticism ?

Monica showed several times during this journey that she is up to the challenge. Lots of firsts for both of us though. I have a decent understanding of electricity but it never occurred to me to bypass the faulty switch the way the captain did.

That amount of water must have been a thru-hull, surely?

Not sure as we couldn’t find it. The captain had a couple theories, neither based on any facts. The boat was being repaired in Portugal when we left so we never heard the final diagnosis.

@@yard2yacht highly likely to be coming through around the prop shaft usually a quick adjustment

The captain of the ferry should be sacked for his use of the horn .

In boom furler 😢 my boat initially had one (from 1992). My previius owner disp3nsed with it at just 6 monthw old and convertee it to slab. None of th3m work properly. Worst invention on a sail boat.

We don’t have much to compare with but our impression of that system is not good. We also met many other sailors along the way that shared their frustration as well. Sometimes less is more and I believe when it comes to sailing you’re better off with the basics 😊
