good video. can say you are totally correct about urea fertilizer. I had used a miracle grow violet fertilizer for years until I learned more. I changed over to optimara ,and things really got better. small pots less dirt also correct, good example, I was repotting some violets, only had enough dirt to fill last pot with about a little over a half inch of dirt. broke off a little plant that had not bloomed for years and looked like shit, I put it in the pot that was about a three inch pot wide so it would not fall over. the sides of it held it in place. after about two months it look off and started blooming for about three months. it took a brake for two weeks and bloomed for about seven months .long story short after two years it started to slow down. so last December I look it out of its pot and added a half inch of dirt and off to the blooming races again.
Thank you for this information.. Really helpful... AND I LOVED the way your dog tilted its head with those floppy ears and confused eyes... I just get so mushy when dogs do that..... Their cuteness just rises to another level...
Your baby dog 🐕are beautiful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge how to take care the African Violet plants 🪴💜😊 I love the African Violet plants 🪴 May GOD always bless you and your family my friend.
I was given seven plants when my grandmother passed away. They were gorgeous and blooming but now no blooms. Your videos are helping me so much! They are on the road to recovery.
i guess Im randomly asking but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost my password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Bradley Eddie I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I'm new to African Violets, this the best video for starters. Now I know why my plants are not blooming, to much FERTILIZER ! Will the fine roots heal? 😢I think I will repot them, I hope I do it right. I will be waiting for your next video Thanks (*!*)🧚
Thank you for your extremely helpful video! Your instructions were very clear, and your explanations were thorough and informative. I am new to growing violets, and I was able to pick up some new information I did not already know.
Omg she is adorable, that how my dog get so hype when I ask”do u want to go outside,or do u want chicken 🐓 he get like that.... good vio like always, make a vio wath to do when the plug get home 🏡 and how to planted 🌱🌱🌱🌱
Hi Justina, thank you for the compliments. and the what to do with the plugs video is all done up, just need to edit it and upload so you should see it in the next couple of days. xx
Thanks, Tina!! Great tips! I'm focusing on increasing humidity this week. Just got in my temp/humidity meter. I'm at 46% so I'm setting out pots of water among my plants and will see how much it will increase tomorrow. Thanks again.
@@BloomloversAfricanViolets Hi Tina, pots of water are not helping. I think I need a humidifier for the daytime, night readings are in the low 60% range. My house is too cold for AVs I think, tried increasing the heat but I can't stand temps in the 70s (get viruses). and night temps are about 58 in my house.
Hello @@Gladys7477 , the temps you have should be fine, my home is on the cool side too and they can do well in the cooler temps. They won't do as well in very dry conditions so I think if you would be able to get the humidity up a little bit it could make a difference. I don't know where but a person already commented that they raised their humidity a little bit and have seen a difference in the plants...
yep, so your dog also has an attachment disorder haha. Mine is not comfortable is she cannot be close to me or see me, it causes her anxiety, poor little thing. Glad you enjoyed the video. Tina xx
Hi Tina, came across your video and subscribed as soon as I saw your cute dog....my Labrador used to tilt her head just like that whenever I talked to her😉 Thank you for all the tips I have used a larger size pot for some of my Violets and yes, there are more leaves than blooms... Plan to change the pot size as per your suggestion.
So cute little one...she wants to wait 😁😁thank yiu for the tips... actually i jave that issue about buds that are dying before they bloom... i was wondering before but when i started turning on humifier in my living room... i notixe the difference...
The bulbs you show look like you can use them in a flourescent light fixture even though they are LEDs….is this true and if so where did you find them?
African violets are so easy. Always water and feed from the bottom, don’t get water on the leaves, remove spent blooms, keep them in small pots, indirect sunlight or early morning sun, that’s it! Beautiful violets abound. Only separate when root system begins to push out of pot, then separate into two or three sections and always put in 3-4” pots. If you love them like this they will love you. Oh, when you feed them use African violet food and feed about every other watering. Yours will bloom beautifully..😉
Just found your channel and immediately subbed! Love the doggie talk in the beginning. Very informative video! Love your AV blooms . How often you should fertilise? Thanks for sharing and happy growing. 😊
Hello Mary, Glad you like the videos. You should try to fertilize every time you water but in very low doses to avoid burning the roots. They will like this. Hope this helps. Tina xx
Thank you Tina. Love your informative video. Looking forward for more ... about the lighting and watering mat, I am very curious about these. And your puppy is lovely.
I was given my grandmother plant. I lived in a house that had the right kind of light and it bloomed. Then I moved back to where the plant was from. Now it hasn’t bloomed for 2 yrs😞. I wish I could show you a picture. I just recently moved plant to my room hoping it would get more light but so far still no blooms. How often should I water? Does it like cold tap water?
It should help Lisa, think of a full table of 12 people will cost more to feed than a table of 4 people, same thing for the plant, less leaves = less leaves to feed, more money left in the bank to do something else ... Let us know of your results. Tina xx
Bonjour Tina, j'ai un problėme avec les feuilles de mes violettes qui brunissent et viennent minces et meurent, il n'y a pas eu d'eau sur le feuilles et elles poussent sous les grow lights.
I live your videos! The more I watch them, the more I wonder how come what I have read never mentioned your major tips! All they talk about is temperature and light. Not a thing about planting pot size or what kind fertilizer to avoid!
Hello Tina. I just came across your video when in my search for answers. I am a completely new owner of an AV. I got as a gift for Easter. I think it’s already dying! First off I have no place to set it except a small south facing window sill. Second off I bought a special Miracle Grow liquid fertilizer, let it set in fertilized water for an hour +. I’ve soaked it twice now. PROBLEM-There are no flowers anywhere & the leaves have brown tips. I noticed this before the second watering. I thought it was thirsty! Gave it sat in fertilized water & I waited a few days & it was worse. Okay, maybe crowded. Cut off the dead or dying blooms & the brown tipped leaves. No better for this last week. Cut away again & put it in direct sun. HELP ... Anybody!! BTW both by thumbs are black, I can kill a weed!
Hey! I loved seeing your dog what a cutie, they do love their ball playing. I enjoyed your six tips for blooming but was super surprised you didn’t use a African Violet fertilizer but did hear you dilute yours. Thanks again for sharing. I love that sweet dark leafed pink one you showed so very pretty (do you know the name?)
Hello Tucker, I am up in Canada so we don't have access to as many fertilizers as you guys. They do sell violet ferts. up here but in very small quantities and are very expensive so I just to with other brands that come in larger formats and in the end much less expensive. I would think that ferts. made just for the violet would be better but the stuff I use works well also so in the end everybody is happy. The little pink plant was Little Rose quartz. Hugs, Tina xx
Hello Doreen, I actually don't the answer to this.... Humm, I would suppose that if they are making for violets, they must know about the violet roots and how they are fragile, I would think that they would take all of this in consideration when suggesting dosages.. I am really sorry I can't give you a concrete answer on this one .... Maybe someone else will read the question and provide a good answer... Tina xx
Should ask why leaves from.my propagated one put out out plantlets that are buds.. but not all of them though. Some plantlets arr the normal baby violets
This happens occasionally, it is a little error that nature does sometimes, shoots up a flower stalk before shooting up the actual plant. It is just a fluke of nature, nothing you are doing wrong and nothing you can do about it.... just happens. Hope this helps Tina xx
Hello Vivy, the people who have very dry homes usually run a humidifier now and then to help. This would help the plants and also help you to be more comfortableé
Hi. I'm trying once again with AV. Ordinarily, they come into my house and cut their own roots. (I have kind of a dark brown thumb. The "countertop garden" I have would live almost regardless of human attention) But, with help of RUclips, & other research, maybe this AV will live. 🤞

what about 20/20/20 can orchid formula being used
