Hey as a contralto, it’s not super inclusive to say this is a “male solo” when there are biological and trans females who can sing in this range…. Please normalize not gendering keys or pieces. Notes are notes and everyone’s voice is different!
It probably helps in searching, I have nonbinary friends who search for "male" or "female" things depending on what they're looking for. Not everything is an attack, but comments like that could make those who aren't allies not want to be allies if we seem hostile. Just a suggestion, put out love, not demands ❤ 🏳️🌈
@@RabidArtists I can’t think of a demand in which someone would use the word “please”. Just bringing awareness to an issue that some might not be aware of, which is actually helpful for non-allies who might not be privy to the issue. It’s never a bad thing to raise awareness for an issue, in fact it actually is all love. I will not apologize for vocalizing a desire for further inclusivity ❤️❤️❤️
@@Outsider1095 You're asking them to change something though, calling them wrong, which is a demand even with the word "please", comes off very Karen-like even though he, and I, know you're just trying to bring awareness. But "Please be different" is still a negative, but another comment asking for additional covers "Please do one for Pretty Women!" is supportive. The difference between a demand and a request is semantics separated by attitude. Plus trying to call him wrong when he's also pushing for inclusivity is what he was saying. Might not want to bite your own in the pack or you'll end up a lone wolf :)
To help, an option you could try to rephrase a demand into a request: "Thanks for making this. However in my opinion, assigning a gender to a song might be limiting to trans females who can also sing in this range. Perhaps 'male-range' would make sense in future posts, as that doesn't limit the gender to only males. Or you could also post the range 'contralto/coutertenor', thanks!"
But then again, they didn't title this "males ONLY", so it could've just been short-form rather than title the video "Sweeney Todd - My Friends (For the male-range although a trans woman could also sing this part, we don't exclude anyone from trying to sing this song) - Karaoke Version from Zoom Karaoke".
Most of us know trans women, as well as cis women, can do many things cis males can do :) Effort might be better spent bringing awareness to Fox News crowds rather than videos in the arts, which 99% of artists are already allies. That could be why it came off as a "demand". Hope that helps, sorry for the book, I just work with LGBTQIA+ and vegan advocacy groups and know wording, and location, is everything :)

i agree- it makes me a bit dysphoric to have to write “female” key for stuff i’m looking for TwT - i’ve gotten used to it but it wouldn’t be hard to change the wording to “tenor” (or baritone don’t know which one this song is lol i’m a soprano so i sing it up an octave) instead of “male”-it would make it much easier :p
