Mario loves his personal space.
Ted loves Mario's personal space too!
You're telling me that Torpedo Ted doesn't understand boundaries? That's just Nonsense!
16:58: And this is why _SMB3_ -style "press to bounce high" with _SMW_ style hold-to-float capes is the optimal control scheme, *IF* done well. ;P "Bouncing high is the same button as floating", like in _SMW_ , removes the ability to bounce low while maintaining a float status, which lessens your control by a slight but noticeable amount. And _SMB3_ -style "press to bounce high" is logically consistent and feels natural to do, since it's just an extension of "press jump to jump"; you use a jump input to indicate that you want a high jump off of a surface, regardless of whether that surface is ground, platform, or enemy skull. The only thing is, it requires a lot of coyote time to get right, especially when people are used to holding jump from years of _SMW_ ; you need to have enough leeway to hit the jump button both before and after the goomba stomp, or it ends up like _Donkey Kong Country Returns_ (which is fine-ish (if a bit finicky) if you have a habit of pressing jump to high-bounce anyways, but fails _so hard_ if you're used to just holding to high-bounce).
At its core, it's the same reason double jumps usually use the jump button, since it feels natural to press jump when you want to jump, and requiring a distinct press for every jump maintains consistently. In games that have them, jumps, double jumps, wall jumps, and aerial recoveries are all forms of jumps, and are all triggered by pressing the jump button instead of by holding it; bouncing is the weird one out by triggering automatically on hold instead of on press. ;3
"Ted Is All up in My Personal Space!" is a godsend for free feathers
i'd say "really good levels today too" but every level in the hack is really good (aside from a very reduced amount that i'm iffy about)
ammunition theodore
Raocow actually played that last level very well, so many things could have gone wrong that didn't
Ted's cursor like movements in that level were spot on. Oh man Kirby 3 ost, please take me back again.
Ted Is All up in My Personal Space! [ 3 | DC3 ]:
There's 3 free 1-ups at the end of the level, to help endless mario players! Wait, wrong game!
FLOODED GHOST HOUSE [ 3 | 1 | DC2 ]:
Wow the designers really want the player to go to star world!
The last dragon coin is before the hardest part of the level, that's why it's DC2.
Icy, Bouncy Lines [ 4 | DC4 ]:
There's bigness checks but there's cape so they cancel out difficulty-wise for dragon coins!
Tomorrow, the skill test!
You know... after so many years of watching monsieur Cow play romhacks I'm amused that we still se new and novel way to spice up the Big Boo fights. This one was really cool although some has been very silly...
7:35 I feel like you did at some point, because Misc. Monument in JUMP kind of uses a similar obstacle!
I like how the Yoshi filter screens in this game get used to showcase elements of the upcoming level.
future feather factory found
5:03 The answer is, kind of? It's a squares/rectangles thing: All fur is hair, but not all hair is fur. Fur is basically a kind of hair: A dense, thick patch of hair that covers the body. Other kinds of hair are whiskers, wool (which is not fur), and lashes.
He got fished!
I also have historically had a slow and meticulous play style with smw, but a lot of modern design philosophy (probably because of kaizo) likes to have obstacles where rushing is usually the most effective option. So I’ve started to adapt my play style a bit. One benefit to a rushed play style is you spend less time on each attempt so you can get more attempts per minute, so to speak
I think this is the first level that can't be super completed in one run. You need to get the Big Boo drgn coin separately from the other 4.
It could be reasoned that 2-exit levels by their nature cannot be super-cleared in one run.
The TOWER Castles are always the end of the current world!
It's just that Nonsense indicates the worlds with a number sign somewhere in that world, not right next to its castle.
Without the ice physics, you could have told me that last level was something from Mario Wonder (obviously with Wonder's graphics) and I wouldn't have been the wiser.
Tags: I feel like, an important variable, for me at least, is, how does the local gimmick, differ from the usual vanilla experience, the more different it is, the more I might struggle to adapt, this is simply how things are
I want to see a version of the first level but it's Ted from Betterified.
"I’m the king of lozenges. You gotta be the king of something, otherwise what even are you?" - raocow, 2024
That last level definitely reused that one morsel gimmick from JUMP's Shattered Dreams.
wow i can't believe raocow is the friend of all fishermans
I think knocking the platfrom out of low water used in another rom hack years ago.
It's possible to make an objective difficulty scale, it's impossible for everyone to have "the same difficulty" with it.
Difficulty is subjective so the best you can do is take an average or get consensus
Pfft... RUclips thinks this is Super Mario Maker 2.
Anyway, let's see if you find any moons today...
Death count: 160 (8 today)
Goal tape average: 476 / 20 = 23.8 (81 / 3 = 27 today)
Normal moon count: 3/6 (1/2 today, assuming there's one in the Ted level) (EDIT: Yes.)
(0:31) Ooh, free Cape Feather immediately, so this is a good level to revisit if you want a quick cape later. Anyway, here's the Ted that wasnts to invade your personal space.
(1:24) Crazy through! Wow, that was some lucky dodging there!
(1:38) I think I checked every pipe in this level, but only the ones at the ends of sections are enterable, it looks like.
(1:59) Critical miss! First death today. Man, it was going so well, too...
(3:11) Huh, this level gives you three 1-ups at the end. However, according to what someone else had told me, this Ted level is supposed to have a moon in it, but I could not find one. I'll give it some more looks later, and if I do find it, I'll make a video showing where it is. EDIT: Found it!
(3:56) This is one of those levels where the secret exit is much easier.
(4:22) Alright, it's boss time, vs. the Big Boo Boss, in water!
(4:43) Nice, you managed to snag that Yoshi coin without bouncing off an Eerie.
(5:07) Oof, but you got the victory! Yes, that was the half-star secret exit.
(5:38) The scrolling here isn't a bug. It's a feature!
(6:34) Uh, oh. Cutoff. This hack won't be accepted at the post office. :P
(6:43) Oof, got steered into that Boo by the current oddity.
(7:49) Poke. Zwee!
(8:53) Good thing the sprite platform can't crush you against the ceiling.
(9:09) Blah...
(10:13) Yeah, that's the better way to handle that part.
(10:34) D'oh... (10:39) Poke.
(11:11) FISH!!!
(11:22) Chipmunk time.
(12:01) Aw, I was hoping you'd turn all the fish into coins by hitting the goal sooner.
(12:47) No Yoshis because they got their tongues stuck to icy lines. :P
(12:58) The moving platforms are made of rubber now.
(13:20) Touch fuzzy, get dead in a dizzy way.
(13:52) So much for being patient.
(15:14) You can slide-kill the flame here.
(17:02) Hooray! Since you got to the end of this level big, you earned a MOOOONNN!!!
Another where I can think of multiple good answers and really would need to know how many letters, but I'm saying AGILE
Found the moon in the Ted level. Video title:
"Nonsense - Ted Is All up in My Personal Space! - Moon"
Fur is much finer and denser than hair, and usually very short.
i was told as a kid that hair keeps growing while fur has an end point but i don't think that's really true.
i think they're fundamentally the same thing, we just call ornamental fur like horse manes or human head hair "hair", and generally prefer "hair" over fur whenever a human's involved, even when arm hair or leg hair is more fur like than ornamental.
A single keratin strand is a hair in either case.
Fur tends to _look_ like it has an end point, because it's shed quickly, while "hair" hair isn't made to fall off and needs to be cut.
zyyyZzzyy!!
