Do you know if financial aid covers housing? (Btw love the video!)
Rokaya Badawi yes financial aid covers tuition and housing. You don’t have to pay it separately, it’s one payment every semester but know you have to have a meal plan as well if staying on campus
Hello if you don’t mind me asking
-how is the area around campus? Do cars get broken into there?
-why did you chose university of Houston over an hbcu?
-is there a lot of black people? (Kind of a big thing to me)
-is there a variety of organizations for black people (sororities/clubs)?
-would you recommend on or off campus housing?
-lastly would you recommend me to go to UH?
Sorry for all of the questions lol I just want to be sure it’s the school I want to go to.
T T The area around UH is okay, you might hear about a few robberies but nothing to really be alarmed about. I chose UH because I wanted to experience the cultural diversity that the campus has. There is a good population of black students! There a lot of organizations that cater to black students and you are able to join any club that you would like! I have joined clubs that are centered around Asian culture and everyone was very welcoming! If possible I recommend staying off campus for the sake of cost, if you are fine with the cost of staying on campus definitely go for that. There’s a lot you tend to miss out on as a commuter student.
T T I honestly would recommend UH to people it’s a nice campus, there are upsides and downsides but what campus doesn’t have that. You will meet people from all over the globe and everyone is nice. UH is also close to downtown and Hermann Park so you can always find something to do! The campus also connects with the Metro bus and train lines, so take advantage of that!
Ari_Jonai thank you sooo much this helps a lot!
I heard there is a lot of marijuana and cigarette use at the Lofts and the smell fills the hallways. Is this true? I also heard the staff does not enforce this rule as much as they should be.
Joanna Elhaj I personally have not had any experiences with that, or heard of anyone having that problem but I’m sure if you told your RA or a desk assistant something could be done about the issue
Ari_Jonai thank you! I am trying to get a single for next semester but only found a double room
I was in the South hall and pretty much everyday you could smell weed. Not a problem for me but yes the smell is VERY prevalent.
Hey if u don’t mind me asking, what side was ur room (C, N, S, W) I am signed up for West next year and I was just wonderjng if that makes a difference
Sakshi Ahuja I was on the north side
What are a few downsides of the school ?
Do you have to have 12 month lease or can you pay by semester?
The lease only ran through the actual school year and all payments were taken out automatically through financial aid for me
@@CinderMariiwhat about summer?
Is the payment per semester or per year? And whats the price?
The payment is per year, they take the payment for each semester all at once. I am unaware of the current prices as I have already graduated but I’m sure you could find them on the UH Housing website
