Sailing towards the sun, the Solar boat of King Kkufu journey to the Grand Egyptian Museum.
The first solar boat of king Khufu, discovered in 1954 at the southern corner of the Great Pyramid, has terminated its long journey to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).
The aim of the transportation project is to protect and preserve the biggest and oldest organic artifact made of wood, in the history of humanity for the future generations. The 4600-year-old boat was exhibited inside the a museum that bearing its name at Giza Plateau which was not equipped with the latest technological equipment to house and display this magnificent artifact.
Major General Atef Moftah, Supervisor General of the GEM project and the surrounding area, describes the transportation of Khufu’s first boat as one of the most important, challenging, and unique archaeological and engineering project. He asserted that the work team exerted all its effort to the success of the transportation procedures which took almost a year of study, planning and good preparation. He added that the transportation process was carried out accurately to ensure the safety and protection of the boat which was transported as a single piece inside a metal cage lifted on a smart remote-control vehicle especially imported from abroad for such process.
The vehicle has a superior ability to overcome any obstacles that may be encountered on the road, and the ability to maneuvering in curves and coils as well as absorbing any vibrations while moving.
The smart vehicle has proven its ability to carry out the task assigned to transport the boat successfully, Moftah pointed out. He continued that during the numerous simulation carried out during the preparation for the transfer, the vehicle proved success as it made the same trip loaded with the same weights and dimensions of the boat, which is 42 meters long and weighs 20 tons, with the installation of special measurement devices to test the performance of the vehicle, the stability of the metal cage and the inclination of the road, to ensure that the boat arrives safely.
Mostafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities asserted that the transportation process was carried out after the approval of the Permanent Committee of the Ancient Egyptian Antiquities in accordance with the Antiquities Protection Law to protect the boat from its outdated old exhibition museum which marred the beauty of Khufu pyramid, the only surviving wonder of the ancient world, for decades. In August 2020, the old boat museum was closed and preparation work for the transfer began. Khufu’s first boat was then packed with special scientific foams and put inside a metal cage to protect it during transfer, which lasted fir 48 hours.
Eltayeb Abbas, Assistant to the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for GEM Archaeological Affairs said that before the transfer a radar survey for the ground under the old museum and along the eastern paved road in Giza Plateau was carried out to guarantee its ability to support the weights of the vehicle loaded with the metal cage and the boat as well as all the equipment used during the process.
Eissa Zidan, Executive Director General of Conservation and transportation of Artifacts told said that before the transportation, the boat was scientifically and archaeologically examined and a detailed report on its conservation condition was prepared. The whole was mechanically cleaned and sterilized along all the preparation process. Its weak areas were consolidated and cracks repaired.
Before its installation inside the metal cage, Zidan said, the boat has been wrapped with special papers and foams as well as surrounded with special padded frame that was then fixed to the cage in order to prevent any movement during transportation. Monitoring devices were also installed to monitor minute by minute the temperature and the humidity percentage within the boat as well as the vibration rate during transportation.
Now the boat is at its new permanent display in Khufu Boats Museum as a part of the Grand Egyptian Museum where it will be restored.

Egyptians are master builders
I love how they went to the extra efforts of making the outside of the moving structure visually stunning. It just adds the grandeur the boat has that would have been missing if the container was plain.
Agreed. This is a Pharaoh's boat and called his "solar" boat make it shine! LOL! Plus, great publicity for their tourism which had been suffering.
Fuck yeah, their ancestors would have made it solid gold.
Plus a big source of income for Egypt is tourism so they try and make it seem amazing like doctored photos. You only have to look behind you when facing the pyramids to see they don’t really care that much.
Lighting up up the outside of the box so it looks cool was an absolutely genius bit of design, marketing, PR. Someone deserves a raise.
What an undertaking! To protect and conserve irreplaceable historical artifacts. Egypt has such a grand ancient history. Thanks for the video.
I have to see this museum!! Increadible job
well done! proud of this achievement!
I like how they lit up the trailer like “look what we have”😂. They could’ve just put a bunch lights on there to make it visible at night but they chose to display it. Very cool
You mean Look What We just Grave Robbed & stole...lol
@@The_Silent_One. yea, true but they’ll be able to preserve it

Goosebumps
Amazing - on a par with the relocation of the temple of Abu Simbel. The danger to it now is the indoor climate since the desert preserved it so well for centuries. From what was mentioned, I think they have considered that when building the display space. I hope it will last for many centuries to come as a monument to the unparalleled culture of Ancient Egypt.
marvelously well done presentation - our ancestors would be undoubetly proud.
khufu boat dope as hell
I really like it how important it still is for the Egyptians! It's a wonderful piece of history and it couldn't be treaded better than the Egyptians did. Even the design of the container it was transported in, looks amazing!
I remember back in January or February 2021 they had this huge event of moving 18 of the Major Mummies of Egyptian History and the event was huge.
@@Roxadus460 That's really cool!

Love Egypt 🇪🇬❤️❤️❤️
I had the great fortune to see this February 2020. This boat is mighty impressive and I can imagine her sailing down the Nile. What a sight that would be. I look forward to seeing her on my next visit to Egypt in the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Surely...its would be fascinating...greetings from uk

It would be a cool idea to make a modern replica for actual use on the Nile.
Sem dúvida um dos mais relevantes achados arqueológicos da história. Foram felizes os agentes do departamento de antiguidades do Egito ao assegurarem a conservação do navio faraônico. Estão de parabéns!
Love it. Wish I could see that in person. Such amazing care taken.
Que hermosura de bote pensar que era de un rey egipcio ,la cultura mas maravillosa y aposionante

Amazing
Ancient Egyptians would be proud. 👏
The solar boat is wonderful, and I was really interested in listening and watching your video, but I found the music too loud, which was a real shame. I hope to visit GEM one day

cool
So there was lots of water around the Pyramids at one time
The Grand Egyptian Museum lives up to its name, it’s an amazing undertaking by the Egyptian people, governments have come and go, civil war and the Arab spring, yet they managed to open the museum for their people and the world

интересно почему никто не строит эту старинную лодку оценить её мареходные качесва ? вот сюрприз будет с ней если она не поплывёт !
The vihicles are called spmt.
WHY take it away from the pit it was discovered in ?????
I get the need to preserve these thinngs, but I also think it is inviting Bad Juju moving these things from where they were place for eternity only to be taken away.
They coulda just moved the boat - but they're like, nah, we're gonna move this boat with *style*.
I’m glad I saw it in the old museum. Egypt was just scary enough to never go back.
The outside of the Boat was more stunning than the Boat
The spinxused to be a lion the lion of the west and I guess there where 2 of them the second was a few hundred feet next to the other one and marked the gateway to the west must have been a hell of a time to be alive wish i could have seen it
It's a giant gondola.

Egypt mother of the world😘🇪🇬
I don't know
All that to move a boat how the hell did they ever build a pyramid
NOAH: HOLD MY BEER...
Wow look at the amount of time and effort it takes modern humans to move a boat down the road but they want us to believe the ancient egyptians built the pyramids in a few decades using a rock and chisel lol

Egypt is history the Egyptians should be very proud of its history just like Chinese they have a very very long history that they can study and learn from. The United States has to learn from there history and its mistakes so that it may last as long and even longer that other nations. Look what we’ve been able to accomplish in less then three hundred years just imagine three thousand years. Visiting other galaxies or other civilization far far from home what would Spock say live long and prosperous young man.

i did that.
I wonder how much they spend
They should be built railroad tracks to museum from City or built Metro, amount of money they did spend on boat!
There's a metro station for the museum
thank goodness it didn't wind up with the British!
There are things meant not to be kept as treasure. There is a kind of problems with our world, we become comfortable with the mystery. There’s a reason why their civilization are left in the opening, forbidden. And here you are trying to conceive mankind with a different set of deaths. Everyone has the right to answer the questions upon their dignity, unless you choose to cross over that way. I’m not talking about the spiritual life of mankind and their Deism “God” And Natural Religion, I’m talking about the birthplace of all creations and the supernatural world.

It wasn't. It was found in it's boat pit and then built after it was found.
