Great video! Sometimes these just fall into the category of "not chosen." Meaning we just choose something else to use instead. Plus we're learning about what we like and why. For me, I'm learning that having the right matte crease and dark outer corner shades in a palette is super important. It's become a requirement in my purchases now. That's kept me from buying a lot of pretty palettes that I won't reach for. I am refusing to let FOMO direct my spending
Your hair has grown so much and looks absolutely beautiful. Totally relatable vid. I love eyeshadow palettes and in the past have bought eyeshadow because they look so beautiful! Knowing so well that I never use certain colours. These days I am trying not to succumb… I am also shopping my stash and using existing products.
I have plenty of regrets. My most recent regret is the OE merry Christmas palette.i always end up making 2 looks, a red look or a green look.... And this was after an entire year of fomo because i didn't oick it up the previous year (sigh)
Seeing a theme with the rainbow palettes! It's taken me some time to learn that I don't like using monochromatic palettes; I rotate my palettes weekly (I have ten), and I need a flexible color story. I've also committed to only buying palettes with at least half shimmers. I have big eyes and a lot of lid space, and I want something fun on my lids. While I like a good matte, I usually only wear them in my crease.
Bought both the ND bronze palette and PMG Heutopian Dream palette on sale for 50% off. Regret both of those purchases, rarely wear bronze shades and don't love PMG special shade formula which puts me off using that palette.
I have quite a few palette regrets/ I’ve been slowly decluttering by putting the palettes in a closet if I think about them I go get them if not and been there for more than 6 months they are out.
Your hair looks so pretty. Definitely have some palette regrets. I’ve been super disciplined over the last year. I’ve also been decluttering a bit, so my family members are happy about it.
It's so important for us to know and find out what we really want and are drawn too. As I think a lot of us eyeshadow lovers fall in love with swatches and individual shades or a look and end up with things we really didn't want or need. You will only reach for a palette where packaging, the colour story and formula appeals to you right away. And it's packaging first as that's the first thing you see! I don't like physically large heavy palettes, I like 6 to 14 pans, the UD, ABH and TF size/format or the Colourpop /Glamlite 12 pans is the biggest I will reach for, I want a light enough shimmer and matte for brightening, I want mid tone and dark shimmers, light enough crease shades etc I have so many palettes that don't match that and frustrate me when I use them 😒😅
Back when Cargo Cosmetics was still around, Kohl's had a set of 6 palettes on sale for $45. I really liked their eyeliners and shadow sticks, so I wanted to try their eyeshadow. There's only one palette that I've used regularly. The rest I feel uninspired when I open them, and they don't last very long on my oily eyelids. I also regret buying both the Tarte Unleashed palette and the TooFaced Pumpkin Spice, because I really only need one of them.
Your eyeshadow looks gorgeous 🥰! Also it's so good to see how cute and respectful you are towards the brands and palettes and yet you are honest about it. I love seeing these kind of videos ❤️🤗
I've sent many of my palette regrets to Project Beauty Share. Makes me feel better that they will get use, and I don't have to keep looking at them and feeling bad.
Yeah, I have had regrets, too. Especially with colorful palettes or Hard to wear formulas. I bought ND Cirque and its a chore to use because I need to bring down a neutral palette or I get into trouble fast. I have the Bella Beaute Bar palette (red one) and know I am not really ever going to do a full blown red look. My one saving grace is having Kryolan cel sealer (liner fluid) to make many of these liners. And I have rehomed several. I think fomo is just a hassle. Palettes bred that. Singles are just easier to manage. Also this is why I am keeping several in rotation this year. Figuring out how to wear them better and more often.
The main one I regret buying is Aurora Struck from Colourpop. Beautiful color story and right up my alley, in photos. When I got it. I’m like what the heck. These are all the same or too dark for my preference. Upsetting since I lusted over it before I finally purchased it on a restock.
Definitely some around holidays from nomad royal Europe and Tokyo one. Realized I don’t like really large or weirdly shaped palettes so I recently depotted into magnetic palette. Trying to keep palettes under 15.
I think of all the palettes I almost bought because I thought I had to have them, I am really glad now that I didn't. There are maybe one or two that I sort of wished I would have gotten but then again they probably wouldn't get used that much anyway. I am down to 5 premade palettes which is enough, because I still use my singles more. I will probably be buying very few palettes going forward, if any.
Every regular palette I bought in 2023 honestly. All I wore in 2023 was the Patrick Ta matte palette + glitters if I even wore eyeshadow. I did like the Patrick Ta Holiday palette, UD Moondust quad and CT Beautyverse.
When you said the Nomad palette I was like No!!!!!! I literally just ordered it for half off and it is on its way. Also, I looked to see if you had a Nomad code when I placed an order and couldn’t find one. If you don’t have one you should tell them you need one bc you are the main creator that persuades me to purchase their eyeshadows. 😁
I feel you on this!! It gives me this feeling in the pit of my stomach that's just "ugh". Even though I love the formula or the color story, there are just palettes that I regret buying! 😩😩 The Empowered was one of mine too but I did actually return it. That was a lot of money for something that felt "meh" about. The Nomad Ghost Town USA. 🤦🏻♀️ I know!! Why do I feel that way? I paid full price! I don't love it. And several more 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I ordered it, but it hasn't come yet. I kind of regret it though, because I just ordered it since it's going out of stock, and it has great reviews. I do love Nomad though. I especially love how ethical they are!
Im sorry, i decluttered my Electric, or i would have seen if you wanted it. If it makes you feel any better, some of the colors at that time were technically not "eye safe" On a more helpful note though, Emily Noel did a video where she used the palette for a week, doing a different look everyday. That might inspire you on how to use the Wired palette. If you aren't familiar with Emily Noel, she does incredibly wearable looks.
You looked gorgeous!! I was like 😮 at your eye shadow. I don’t have this Colourpop palette-it dropped during my no buy but now I have to get it😅 I really like my UE 2023 Valentine’s Day Mystery face and eye shadow palette but like you, I don’t reach for the eye shadow. I have used the blush palette many times. I am glad I didn’t get this year’s-I don’t like their liquid lipstick shades. I also have a few palettes I have in my collection that I wish I didn’t buy-I am not gonna declutter them-yet.

So true! That makes a lot of sense!
@@ChicGeekMakeup Thanks!
Excellent point!!! I feel similar in that I am learning what I like most. But I’ve also learned that my makeup color stories tend to be seasonal.
@@R.L.Maverick Thank you! That's interesting about seasonal makeup colors. Thanks for sharing
“And this was on major sale”
When will we learn?! 😂 lol
Ahhh I know I should have known!🤣

Yes you are right! I clearly shouldn’t but rainbow palettes 🤣 that’s great you realized what you use

Oh no! The sales can trick us!

That’s a good idea!
March is a good opportunity to reach for that green pallet. 💁🏽♀️
Yes good point!!
Your hair looks so pretty. Definitely have some palette regrets. I’ve been super disciplined over the last year. I’ve also been decluttering a bit, so my family members are happy about it.
Thank you! That’s great you’ve been able to declutter!

Yes so true!
I’ve done this before. Maybe you’re going thru another evolution in what you like to wear. I am into neutrals with pop of color right now
I think so! It happens 🤣

@@ChicGeekMakeup I think/hope I have! I've become a lot more selective in the last couple of years.

If you want to go to Iceland, go to Iceland! I worked there one summer and it's a super interesting and unique place.
Oh it sounds amazing!🤩
Awww noooo. Not Fire & Ice! 😭💔

I regretted the Huda Naughty Nudes. I thought it would be my perfect neutral palette but...i don't really reach for neutrals and the fallout was crazy
Oh that’s unfortunate!!

Oh yes Emily is great 🤩
Funny the fire and ice is rhe only that caught my attention most are to grungy for me
It is quite pretty!
Your hair IS super cute today! Do you have naturally straight hair?
thank you! no it is wavy/frizzy
Wow your hair is so long!! When was the last time you cut it?
Just trimmed it last week 🤩
You should give us a few options to choose from and let us choose your makeup lol ❤
