I have been doing research for the last month because I have thin low density hair and wanted to see what that would look like. I don’t want the scalpy look but realized that is going to happen with any style that I get. I want the micro locks because once my loc thickens and grows it will be less scalpy. Your hair is beautiful!
Hi Elizabeth, I did the same! I have fine 4b hair and I was concerned I'd have flat scalpy loss. Whitney is right, your hair will look full. Your locs get a fluffy look.
They always say that but with finer hair we can do smaller micro locs and over time they’ll get super full because we’re no longer loosing shed hairs. I did 252 micro locs and they’re still not that small. Now I have mine for a protective style but I really wanted to see what they would look like since I’m thinking about it fr. I don’t really like the thicker dread look atleast on me. The smaller they are the more they mimic my curl pattern and I think it looks cool
I’ll be 4 months in on the 15th and I agree to all you said especially about research and finding a loctitian that works for you. My 4c hair is dense so at 367, my microlocs are full. But I wanted a fuller look and smaller locs and if I’d had a deeper conversation that would’ve happened. We don’t have many certified loctitians in Nigeria but we’re traditionally great with twists and braids etc., as with black communities I imagine and that’s what kinda saved me. But if I had to do it again I’d be really picky and ask a ton of questions. Love your hair and your openness ❤
So I start my loc journey July 25th and I am sooooo excited lol. I’ve been wanting them for about 2 years now (Locs in general not microlocs). At the time I was struggling with what style of locs I’d like because I’m very girly and I wanted a more softer approach to locs lol. Thennnnnn I came across sisterlocs which brought me to microlocs! I was sold once I seen them, I was like yes this is it for meee! 😂😂 I’m so in love with the style and look, yours look so amazing and healthy. You’ve got me even more excited now lol
Congratulations! I will be starting my Loc journey this coming year 2024. After long researching and trying to find the perfect Loctician, I am ready. I will be getting them installed for my birthday, so they will be establish on 7/11 I’m super excited. Also, I’m happy that I came across your video. I am a new subbie now and I will be following you on your journey. 😊💕🫶🏾
They are beautiful. This is his I want my grid to look. I’m starting my microloc journey next week. I’m nervous and excited at the same time. Hope you have the best journey
@mamagreen I came across your channel decided to subscribe. I just started my loc journey on Thursday and install completed yesterday! I did the micro locs two strand twist. I’m very excited and will continue to watch your content for advice. Thank you, blessings!!!
Congrats on starting your locs journey. 😊 I got microlocs in Nov. 2021 and it was the best decision i have made for my hair since i stopped relaxing it in 2011. It is a process but i can say that so far it has been a great journey. 👍🏾👍🏾
Wait, is this my new fav loc look? yes, it is!!!!! GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I have my installation scheduled for next weekend, and I am so excited. My loctician is also very excited and that was a big reason why I chose her.
Getting my install this weekend 😊. I have a very dry scalp and have to wash my hair weekly, even when I have braids so this will be interesting as my hair locs and I can't shampoo😢
You'll be fine and you can wash it. I have seborrheic dermatitis so I have to wash my hair every 2 weeks. I am nearly 4 months in. I just braid and band it. What really helps for dry scalp conditions is rosewater or aloe and glycerine (or all 3!). Water alone won't be enough and your scalp will itch and flake. What you don't want is any build up of flaking getting stuck in locs.
my scalp is was v dry too, so I’m praying for you. Be careful with witch hazel because it’s an astringent so it might make your scalp/hair dryer. The product that changed my hair is the oyin handmade spray. It has glycerin, which is really great for drawing moisture into your strands/scalp and all the ingredients are water soluble, so you won’t have build up! i’m about six months in
@@normalgirlbim thank you! Is there a specific Oyin spray you use? My scalp is itching like crazy like I have box braids in my head that wasn't given an ACV rinse first😩
I am on my micro loc journey 7+ month now, and getting used to it. I had traditional locs for 7 years but these are much lighter. Cannot wait until it gets longer to different styles. I love your hair and energy😊
I locked my hair once again 😭 this year would've been 9 years with my sisterlocks, I cut them my freshman year of highschool after having them for 5yrs. Then I did my own microlocs install freshman year after having my hair out for 6ms then I cut them after having for almost 3yrs right before I gave birth to my son and after 6ms I did my most recent microlocs install on myself again and I'm almost 2 months in now!! I documented my process on RUclips as well if anyone would like to watch me do my full install !!
Your hair is beautiful😍 I’m starting mine very soon. I apologize if you already answered this in the video but what made you decide on twists rather coils? I’m still going back and forth.
Your hair is beautiful! I am 2 1/2 months in on my micro-loc journey. When did you start using water? I’m afraid to use water. I don’t want my loc’s to slip out. What is the name of the black soap shampoo?
My loctician didn’t tell me I couldn’t use water so I was using from the beginning. I don’t recommend it though. I read somewhere that you should wash after 4 weeks. I would use a light spritz bottle for water to not drench your hair, but I have high porosity hair
Thank you for sharing your micro locs story. Please I would like to know if the root of the hair has to be interlocked at first installation, Or just twist and go at first installation?
Just discovered this page. I started my journey a year and a month ago. Question do you only get your retie or twist when your loctician come to town? And how much is your maintenance each time you get them done? I ask because I was told every 4,6,8 weeks AND the price is contingent on the time btw my retie. For me I know this definitely a financial investment.
I uploaded a 1 month update xo: ruclips.net/video/3u-AGVGXPb0/видео.html

I have low density fine 3C/4A hair and I had the same concerns before I got my microlocs but they’ve really thickened and flourished! It’s worth it!
Hi Elizabeth, I did the same! I have fine 4b hair and I was concerned I'd have flat scalpy loss. Whitney is right, your hair will look full. Your locs get a fluffy look.
Per my research, starting with the two strand twist method is best for those with fine hair.
Does she do locks with extensions?
