jerry is so out of touch he thinks mellisa mcarthy and amy shumer are big draws
The fact that it has Amy Schumer you know it will be unfunny...
She definitely did not add much to the movie
painfully so
Why do they keep putting McCarthy and Schumer in things!!!
I'll give you one guess, and it rhymes with their blender.
Melissa McCarthy and Amy Schummer are in it and you're SURPRISED it sucked?
I love the scene where Melissa McCarthy informed Jerry that now all restaurants are Taco Bell after it won the franchise wars.
what’s _the deal_ with the three seashells?
It worked in demolition man 😂, love the reference
I love the scene where they had virtual sex and Jerry knew how to knit after coming out cryo
Be well.
Nice to have Chris back
Not great, but left a feeling of warmth and Jerry is always fun to watch
Feels like a Seinfeld episode slightly
I'm 57, didn't grow up in the 50 and 60 but got all the references from the Kennedy bit to the Argentina joke. It is the absurdity that makes it funny.
I'm a simple man, if I see Melissa McCarthy or Amy Schumer cast in a movie it is an instant must skip and if both are in a movie it's an instant never watch.
10 year old me if I saw this in 1975 would have laughed my ass off while the 59 year old me just chortled and chuckled. As the masters say, "Timing is everything" and this vanity project is 40 years too late.
Jerry Seinfeld is stuck 40 years in the past. His hubris won’t let him see that though
I must have a very niche sense of humor because I got the references and I enjoy dumb humor.
I got the mascots references.
Agree 100%
I actually enjoyed myself. It was a short 90+ minute silly comedy which sends up 1950's / 1960's culture. I laughed enough and bought a box of pop tarts during my weekend errands. Good enough and I liked seeing Jerry Seinfeld again.
The real question is are you the exception or the rule.
Considering I've heard literally nothing since it launched on Netflix I'm guessing it's the former.
We got a level 7 susceptible here people.
I don't like seeing jerry again,he is still not funny and the movie was trash.but he can blame his movie failure on woke culture rather than the bad script.
5.5 out of 10, I laughed several times but it should of been better was my feeling
Is that you Jerry? Sorry no one cares abt your dumb unfunny movie. 😂😂😂
There were actually "Cereal Wars" as it were. Company CEO's fought harshly in order to claim they were number one in sales. A race to beat Post Breakfast Squares to market first was a real thing.
I thought the movie was fine I would give it a 7/10 but I kinda like stupid humor. I spit my drink with the Bill o’Reilly joke it caught me so off guard.
I actually enjoyed this movie because it felt like The Three Stooges made a period piece and stuck their witty humor in it hahahaha
This movie is getting alot of undeserved hate. This was a good doesn’t take itself so serious comedy. It had a good charm to it through out
The problem is that he talked a lot of trash about woke stuff and we were expecting an edgy, offensive comedy but instead he gave us a straight to cable Disney channel movie.
It’s “a lot”, not a single word, halfwit.
I actually really enjoyed this movie. The way crackle yells his name had me dying🤣🤣🤣
I thought it was overall so-so but the funeral with full cereal honors made it worth it.
Great to see Chris back! He looks like Robert Meyer Burnett with the beard. Doesn't the movie take place in the 60's? I would expect the references to be of that time. It is a movie made for gen x and older.
Looks more like Santa Clause to me. Gonna take some getting used to.
It's a one joke premise that is stretched thin. However, to complain about dated references doesn't make sense, since it's a period specific piece. Bill Burr as JFK was funny.
i really enjoyed this movie. it was fun silly, and had little jokes slid in. i feel like there's this pressure to be "monumental" nowadays and fun things like this get cast aside
oh Gosh, I did not know Amy Schumer was in this… why Gosh, _why?!_
It was stupid but there were some funny jokes. Harmless, I suppose. Reminds me of Dana Carvey in Master of Disguise for some reason. I know that's not a ringing endorsement, haha. Just the goofy tone of it.
Both movies embraced absurdist humor, which is lost on a lot of people
What's funny is Kelloggs didn't even invent toaster pastries. The first one on the market was a product called "Toastem Pop-ups", and yes, you can still get them.
Glad you back Chris, God speed your recovery
He made a film about something close to his heart...he does love his cereal
the second i saw amy schumer in the trailer i knew the movie is bad.
"THE DEATH OF COMEDY IS......BAD COMEDY!!" Good one, MR. Alan Ng. - James D. Watkins, artistic director of Phoenix Productions
It was dumb but I laughed. Mostly at the funeral scene and some of the references even though I'm not the usual target age for them.
Chris Myer-Burnett
Welcome back Chris!
I didn’t hate it, but it could’ve used a little frosting.
Aaaaa I see what you did there
I thought it was funny. lol. I was having a bad day and the stupid humor made me laugh. I caught all the jokes. They nailed the era, sets, the costumes and the acting. I thought it was silly and campy. I guess I might be the only one but it was cute. I enjoyed it. The Kennedy thing was hilarious with the Double Mint Twins.
I actually liked it alot as well..Slater as the milk man amused me as did Grant. I like the absurd take on how the pop tart was born.. Was it edgy? Nope.. But it kinda well Lampooned the era.. and I laughed me at it than I have any other "comedy" in a while.
Wrong. It’s a very smart, dumb comedy and I laughed throughout
pin this comment!
I was out when I saw Miss Piggy on the poster. I like Seinfeld, but this would need to be a masterpiece for me to want to suffer through her cringe.
Lol. I laughed my butt off watching Unfrosted. Loved it!!!!
As far as I'm aware, Alan pronounced Sebastian's name correctly...
Yeah it was silly and old references - which I did generally get. It was almost family friendly, which was weird to be so close but they kept saying G.D. I couldn’t tell if they were making fun to the people at Jan 6 or making fun of how little of an event it was compared to the “summer of love”!?
Alan pronounced Sebastian’s name correctly
I hope u feel better Chris
I started hate watching this movie, but I was quickly won over by its charm.
I genuinely enjoyed it.
Why did it start with a “hate watching?” Jerry is soo funny. And has Perfect Print hand writing. Hellooooo 👋
I love chris gore
Yea Gore is awesome. Alan has grown on me over time but Gore is the show IMO. So awesome he's back.. I expected a little longer in all honesty
I liked it! reminded me somewhat of kids in the hall... skit-like but not stupid. Jerry and his co-writer actually wrote the script to be like a giant seinfeld episode. I thought the funeral scene was absolutely hilarious :D
There used to be Pop-Tart cereals. I missed that.
If AUSTIN POWERS was a Genre.
Chris, you look great!
7:06 We use these Paycheck movies. 7:50 Could he be reacting to his experience trying to make this? I mean Amy Schumer? Seriously. You know someone forced her on him. And then Melissa McCarthy added on top of that. Remember this was already in the can when he made those comments.
The last comedy I remember is 21 Jumpstreet. That was not bad!
I would go so far as to say even 22 jump Street was pretty good.
That's back when the dynamic duo of Lord and Miller was absolutely unstoppable. Before I feel like they truly came to a crashing halt into current times.
Ya 22 was funny too. Then comedies suddenly vanished.
I liked the scene with the guys from Mad Men.
It's fine for what it is. I got a few laughs out of it. The funeral part made me laugh.
All I have to do is read the names off the thumbnail.
It was a carnival of Seinfeld tv characters playing other characters in cameos.
Annnddd you lost me at Amy Schumer. Cannot stand her
I'm not watching it because Schumer is in it. She's comedy death.
I almost didn't watch b/c of her. *but her character is not annoying and she is part of a big cast
@@cheery-hex Noted. Maybe I'll give it a shot sometime in the future.
I wanted to like this as well, but just couldn't. Yeah, I got a chuckle every now and then, but for the most part it was like road kill: You don't want to look but you can't help yourself.
Unfrosked
Frosk Bitten
Now that's a movie I'd see.
I enjoyed it. It was dumb fun and I forgot most of it after turning off the TV.
I thought it was mildly funny. I am 58 and I got all the reference. The reference Gus Grissom was kind of off putting unless I did not get it
I was not expecting much.
It was fine and enjoyable.
I don't think Seinfeld is referring to himself, like Chapelle Seinfeld will never have a problem.
There hasn't been many films like The Hangover or Superbad in the last 10 years.
I can't remember the last funny comedy TV show.
Entertainment is more concerned about ticking DEI boxes than making something good.
That's the thing if you make something good it could be filled to the brim with diversity and inclusion and no one would bat an eye. The problem is it's done as they say with a sledgehammer not with a scalpel. With zero subtlety and even worse writing. We've seen it done correctly with things like blazing saddles and things that stand the test of time. No one is going to remember the last 10 or 15 years. Unless things get worse that is then unfortunately we might just be looking back at now like the good times.
I didn't hate it. I didn't love it either. It's got its moments. It's a story being told to a child by the protagonist. So it's got to be silly
That's actually a pretty clever framing device. But it's also an excuse to go way off the rails.
They should make a movie centering around the cereal mascots or shorts.
Dropping some Kel Logs guys?
Good to see Chris back and at em.
Hope he doesn't mind me saying now he looks just like Alec Baldwin, lol
I agree that it was made for kids, except they won't recognize any of the references.
Jerry has become the thing he despised: Kenny Bania.
Seinfeld should make TV. His movies and Coffee in Cars and his stand up are all questionable at best. His TV stint was one of the best in entertainment history. But was it all Larry David and the writers?
It is hard to argue against it considering the few times he's gone off on his own like Bee movie it's just been forgettable and honestly not good.
Jerry co-wrote. It's his jokes that make the series so funny.
Curb your enthusiasm has shown everyone that the success of Seinfeld (the show) is 90% Larry David. This movie just cements that.
Good news. Apparently the work force in 60’s America was culturally diverse and women were at the top of industry. We were lied to all these years! Whew.
I dont have Netflix so its good im not missing anything.
It's clear that without Larry David's writing, Jerry just isn't that funny.
Honestly I can't argue with that.
Larry's material is still funny Jerry's just isn't what it used to be or I feel like the world has moved on.
I thought it was a cringe-fest of jokes or attempted ones. Jerry was trying to act a little like his Seinfeld character as well which was the best parts lol.
I love it.
Leave it to Jerry Seinfeld to make a strong case for giving AI a chance to write a better screenplay
There is something just a little off about the comedy. It had some laughs. I thought it was decent and I enjoyed it once it got in the groove. It had the vibe of an awkward dream. The ventriloquist dummy getting talked to after the hit had me in stitches.
I thought this movie was charming in a goofy sort of way. I would watch it again.
It’s a one joke movie. The jokes wrote themselves - you could see them coming a mile away. I think Seinfeld liked the concept but was too obvious with the writing.
Low carb cereal ? Sureeee ! Haha
Jerry: PC culture bad
Also Jerry: hires Amy Schumer
I'd like to get off of sugar, the problem is they put sugar in EVERYTHING. You can't avoid it. And I'm too poor to have special food delivered to my house twice a week, or I'd do that. Oh well.
If it's actual sugar it isn't so so bad. It's mainly high fructose corn syrup you need to stay away from. Just learn how to read labels a little and make sure to look at everything you buy before getting it. GMO is also horrible but it's in like 85% of products now here in the US..
Not trying to tell you how to eat I was just offering tips lol
@@TwistedReality13 Sugar is bad for you. Some studies link it to chronic disease and contributing to inflammation, plus it can cause your limbs to rot off and cause you to go blind if you develop diabetes.
I'm kind of bummed, I was looking forward to this based on some of the cast, and Jerry has made some great stuff. It does seem like the consensus is that it's not funny.
Does this prove that Larry David was the comedic genius behind the Seinfeld television show? I never liked Jerry's standup moments in the show's opening so I'm glad they eventually removed them. I hate that they made up nonsense about historical events and real people.
You boys are missing the boat on this one. I laughed literally from start to ending. You're trying to hold comedy to the same standards as drama. This is intelligent comedy wrapped in the absurd. .
I already see 3 out of 5 people on that cover I dont give a shit about
I found the movie very funny and entertaining actually. It was a very Jerry Seinfeld type comedy and that's what makes the jokes work. I'm 42 years, so the 60's happened way before I was born, but I think the context of the movie was very easy to grasp. Yes it was a silly and old comedy, maybe because most of them are all old, silly comedians. But the jokes worked, because they were just funny. Much better than these pseudo-comedians these days, trying to pretend that they understand comedy at a higher level, even though they have nothing to show for. Very disappointing review, which for me puts into question your opinions about everything else.
This is so Monty Python-esque. I found the writing to be really clever but then I am fucking 65 years old. This is not badly written, this is not bad comedy, it is absurdist and smart but absolutely released at the wrong time. It would have been better received in the 70's or even in the 90's. I mean the idea of a Milk syndicate, the JFK scene with the double mint twins and on and on. If The Beatles were transported back in time to the 1920's, they would have been crucified. That is what is happening here.
I cannot stand Amy Schumer and Melissa McCarthy, I refuse to support them. They are absolutely awful.
the funniest thing to me here is kellogg inventing corn flakes to inhibit masturbation...
Yeah, that man was nuts.
His entire philosophy was based on theology and insane health routines and regimens.
Tropic Thunder was the last good Hollywood comedy.
I got two laughs in the movie, one at the funeral when they started pouring milk in the grave and the casket rose with it, that was great, and I also laughed when Hugh Grant asked a milkman at a bar if something was a pun, and the milkman just replied "I don't think so.".
Amusing movie, but no, not funny.
I didn’t like it either. Some of it can be put down to a matter of taste. I actually researched this story after seeing the video and it’s way more interesting than portrayed in this movie. If they had played it straight, it would have been way funnier, and the stakes would’ve been greater.
It was definitely over the top but I was entertained by it and I had a good time watching it. I even did a review on the movie myself.
This movie wasnt bad. It wasnt great. But it was not terrible. Coulda been much better. Sure. But it is trying to return to better times and better humor, despite Schumer. 6/10
Jerry Seinfeld would be NOTHING without Larry David and Larry Charles.
I loved Seinfeld, the sitcom, but most of that was due to Larry David and his writing staff. I've never found Jerry Seinfeld, left to his own devices, particularly funny. Any comedian worth his craft wouldn't complain about the restrictions audiences put in place but rather be coy about it and find workarounds to them, as many comedians can still be funny while doing so. It's probably typical for those whose careers have declined to blame the industry and audience, not that everything he said was fully without merit, but still.
I watched about half of it and thought what the hell this is soooooo bad with so many good comedy people I just have just went back and started rewatching 70’s- late 90’s shows rewatching Babylon 5 right now and so much better than any show that’s on right now
I didn't hate it. But I also didn't love it. It's fine for what it is. At least it's not another IP
The whole "MAD MEN" bit was the most entertaining part.....but it fell SOOOO flat..
What I don't get is was this projection and coping on his own project when he said that comedy has been killed by the far left and sensitivity readers.
Because unless you're making something that flies directly in the face of that all you're doing is making an excuse why you made a boring turd of a movie that isn't funny.
We need a movie that's the antithesis of what movies are now not a demonstration of what they are and are unfortunately going to be until everything collapses.
Who is the homeless man?
