- In this video I review the Galaxy Tab S. If you are interested in this tablet, but not sure it's worth the money, then you don't wan to miss this video.
Given Samsung's build everything including the kitchen sink approach, from mini's, grands, heart monitors, fingerprint scanners, LCDs, WQHD, Super Amoled's, 1080p and 4K screens & video recording, 8, 13 and 16 mega pixel camera's to name a few, they've gotta have a device for everyone, right?

The Tab S offers a double threat, first with its high-res Super AMOLED display and then with an incredibly thin profile. Add to fact that both the 8.4- and 10.5-in. variants are thinner and lighter than the iPad Mini and iPad Air, and Samsung's latest flagship tablets are bound to turn heads.

Just bought it and I am blown away by performance and the display. When it comes to the speakers I don't find it fair to complain about the quality, since there is physical limitations given their size. I am always prepared to use headphones on mobile devices, even laptops b/c sound is always less than satisfying if you are an audiophiliac. Best tablet ever so far.
The book cover made by Samsung for this tablet allows you to have three positions for viewing, browsing and typing. Thanks for the review.

Carpio I haven't run them both at the same time, but using only video, (which I'm happy to do and get back to you) but based on my daily usage habits, for me the iPad mini outperforms my Tab S almost every time. I get a lot of notifications from work, and this helps to kill my battery after a little less than 1.5 days. So I charge it daily to make sure I have a full battery.

Jovanny Ferino Nice! This is my favorite Android tablet of 2014. I'm hoping that Samsung has something really special in store for us this year from the tablet perspective. I think they did such a great job of the Galaxy S6, so that have to keep that going. The display on this thing is second to none, in true Samsung form. Great review! I highly consider purchasing the Tab S 8.4 but eventually settle with the Shield Tablet as I find it to fit my needs better. You can't go wrong with the Tab S 8.4 though. Gorgeous screen!

It looks like a nice tablet for quick internet surfing, watching youtube videos and playing games where you can tilt the tablet to make the game move. It has the best screen in the tablet field at this time Dec 2015.

Same here. Screen is still beautiful and bright. Still extremely happy with the tablet except for two things...battery life is terrible and the tablet does not have NFC and should. Aside from those two things it has been excellent and used daily at work, home, train, and travel. I own three samsung devices with OLED and haven't experienced any burn in.

You're right. ;-) Can't blame me for trying though. I do like the case. I also have the titanium one too. I also noticed that the white does get dirty with fingerprints so gotta be careful with that one.
Just swapped my 10.5 for an 8.4 Titanium and the Book Cover. It's a great combo

Dude, how would you compare the battery life over an ipad mini retina? for example, if you play a video loop on full charge for both devices, which one would last longer?

Hey, great review, professional and informative! I was looking at it on Samsung's website and noticed the 8.4" wifi model doesn't have a 32gb option like the 10.1" does, will this option be released soon or even at all?

Thanks, I appreciate that. I don't think Samsung will release a 32GB model, but it does support a 128GB micro SD card. Only problem is that you cannot move everything to the card. This can be bad if your a gamer. You'll find yourself constantly installing and uninstalling them to free up space.

Got it yesterday. The plus point is the micro sd slot which is found on the side that is easily accessible. However, I am a bit disappointed that it can't handle pdf file well. If you plan to read any pdf file, be prepared for the slow page to page transition. However, iPad mini with retina display can handle pdf file effortless.
I hope the PDF fix is something they take care of in the next software release for you. For something so basic and a tablet this powerful, it should not be an issue you would think. While I do read eBooks and magazines on the device, I had not tried a pure PDF, so thanks for sharing that with us.
Yeah that's a disappointment but you can always download a PDF application.

would you recommend it in 2017? can't go for the s3 cause there's no small version and the s2 8.0 has the 4:3 aspect ratio so this guy is my only option. should i go for the tab s8.4 LTE or look elsewhere?

What functionality do you miss with the book cover? I find it really stylish and it props up fine in both axis.
For me, it's the angle that this cover props up. Not really ideal if I want to have it in my lap while traveling and such. When I'm going for style, I definitely go with this cover, but for functionality I go with a 3rd party cover that I found. Don't get me wrong, I do like this cover and have even bought at second (the titanium bronze). :-)

thanks for the tip on nova launcher...not sure how to get that on mine to upload etc, but will look into it...I did notice the lag. I also wish there was an app for the sound...not great, which was a disappointment, as I don't always like to use headphones..hard on my jaw! Anyway, thanks for the tips. I did get a great aftermaket cover for this. It is great and has a stand that you can use either tab or landscape positions! And only for 30 bucks in Canada. Great option....

Loved your review. Been looking at this tablet for the last 2 months, and hoping to catch it on sale. Having a little issue deciding what color I want.? Anyone care to share their thoughts on this? Which one is better, the tab S 10.5 or tab S 8.4?
Just curious if anyone else has a solution or explanation as to why my tab s will stop displaying RUclips controls (like pause, or the ability to skip ahead or back) when in full screen?
I have seen this happen on my Nexus 9 as well in full screen. I usually have to rotate the device a few times between portrait and landscape, or switch from full screen mode and then back again. I think it's a bug in the new version of the RUclips video player.

Do you think you could play one of the Modern Combats. I mostly want to see mc4. I'm looking for a mid sized premium android tablet so I can be the android bnatesgamer. Also maybe a link to a good sd card to max the storage I plan on having ALOT of games and some movies.

I bought one of these to replace my laptop. It has been 5 to 6 months now, you cannot use a regular btowser, it thinks it is a big phone, BIG MISTAKE! Get another laptop. No storage, slow, jumps around, too sensitave, the factory website is a pain spell check is goofy, auto correct is a pain.. It is expensive. I could have gotten two laptops for the same money and work around Windows. Zoom goes to too big or automatically. Still not ready yet for the market.
i had this tab was very good for movies but samsung not updated since 5.0 so some apps dont work

i just got mine from best buy... Im using nova launcher and I got the full cover for it which allows it to stand up at 5 different angles i think? im not to sre how many... there is only 2 that I use... I also bought a 128 gb card for it on amazon... i cant live with only 16 gbs lol... I never play anything out loud... I always use headphones and the headphones i use are good enough for me lol...
Ishan Sethi I'm definitely going to have to get another cover for mine. This tablet is still my go to tablet and the one to beat. I also switched to headphones to get a better sound experience. Hope you enjoy as much as I do.

Can you play a PSP game on this tablet using an emulator ( PPSPP) ? Like Tekken 6 or Naruto.. maybe try a multiplayer on it too. :D

How does it handle watching a 4k video thats about 9gb in size? does it load up quickly and what happens when you fast forward a movie and back? does it instantly resume the video?

I'm considering buying the Tab S, but I've read some serious complaints about battery life after a few months of use, like 2 to 4 hrs of normal use. Is that true ? And about the lagging, I've heard some people saying the Tab Pro is still faster. Can anyone share thoughts on it ?
Wrong. The lte version has a snapdragon 800, the same as my lg g2. Same clock, just more ram and a bigger display. Ive got 3000 mah battery and the s 8.4 has 4900. Dont know if the tab pro is faster, but this has a much better screen and is thinner.

hey everyone , i bought this tablet like 4 days ago and i installed cpu temp app on it and have the cpu temp overlay ON
and i can see that sometimes depending on what im doing loading vids or huge amount of pics or installing
the temp hits 70~ or so and then it drops , i wanted to know if its normal or there is something wrong with my tablet
the back of tablet however does not get hot at all , it only gets a little warm nothing to even notice but the app is what's worrying me
if anyone can try it on his tablet or has info about how the temp should be share please can help me a lot thanks :)

I want to buy this for gaming but i cant find the 32gb model anywhere. You cannot install apps to the sd card so the 16gb version would be useless to me. Any help?
Unfortunately I have not seen the 32GB version myself in the 8.4. Only in the 10.5 have I seen it. It's also a shame that Google changed how SD cards can be used with KitKat. I'll keep an eye out and post something here if I can find anywhere that has them.
For gaming, I recommend the Shield Tablet. It's got a 32GB version and microSD slot for up to 128GB storage.

Tab s, xperia z3 tablet, envidia shield or nexus 9?
I haven't had the pleasure of trying the Z3 tablet (would like too) so I cant give my hands on impression of that. Out of the others I would say that I like the Tab S the best so far, closely followed by the shield tablet. For me the Tab S has all the power I need. It runs pretty fast and handles everything I have thrown at it. It has expandable memory and an excellent display. In terms of size, I think that 8.4 is the sweet spot. Lastly, I think it really comes down to how you plan to use the tablet though to determine what would be right for you.

Is it LTE version or just wifi?
It comes in both LTE and WiFi variants but I have the WiFi version.
I always use headphones anyway, so dont really care to much about the speakers.

It doesn't have airview, but it has mute/pause for video by covering the screen with your hand as well as smart pause when you look away from the screen. It also has palm swipe to perform a screen shot. Those are the only motion gestures.

You can prop the tablet up using the included hard plastic tray.
Ive got a 10.5 coming, along with an Otterbox. I dont have the upload speed to do a review of the case' functionality.

I'm still seeing the price at around $399 online. But...the Tabs S2 will be coming out soon and its rumored to be larger than the 8.4.

+viCky666 I have not experienced any burn in and I have had this tablet as well as several Amoled phone displays. I find too, that as long as your screen has content on it that doesn't sit in the sample constantly (for a very long time) this will not be a problem.

Yeah but you know which is more responsive, and you also know which one is less secure;-). Everyone knows that if you try Samsung password a couple of times, it factory resets, and what ever little tosser syole your device, now has it for good. But... with APPLE :-) you still need their apple ID, as I told you, and ill tell you again, they are way more secure and they aren't made out of plastic, fake leather even, apple are made metal. #like a apple boss

Joshua Roberts there are still many devices that are made out of metal and glass such as the xperia z3 and they run android just fine, if you get your password incorrect it'll just have you enter your Gmail tied to the phone and your good.
plus they're much faster than iPhone and iPad with 3 gb of ram and amazing processors and on top of that they have a higher resolution camera. And Samsung hardware and android software you're not limited. Ios is dumbed down and limited for people who don't know anything about tech. With android you can do so much more.
