The fact that Billy Gibbons played a slash les paul and didn't bring a vintage les paul, an it still sounded like Billy Gibbons is why he is a legendary guitar player. Tone is in the hands not in the gear !
Yeah but I’m sure he made some adjustments on the amp EQ knobs and/or the guitar knobs. It’s an electric guitar - there’s no way he picked it up with Slash’s own settings and didn’t make some tweaks first. That’s what every electric player does first. After that part, a lot of tone is in the hands in the way people strike the strings. But I’m sorry to say it’s not entirely in the hands where an electric guitar is concerned.
Now an acoustic . . . ? That “tone is in the hands” thing ‘might’ apply more.
@@MashaT22 haha and i didn't say he didn't adjust things after his tast ! Thats what all us guitar players do when we borrow somebodys rigg. All i was saying was that you don't need a les paul for 150k to sound good if you are good! I mean he was playing a slash les paul gibson standard not even a customshop guitar or a orginal 1959 les paul just a regular new gibson, but alot of folks think you need a super expensive guitar to sound good!

Fucking Crossroads by Cream S U C K S!!!!! Robert Johnson BLOWS THEM ALL AWAY! He is one dude and outplays, out performs, out fucks them all! I hear the cream version and am like WTF is this?! Is it even the same song? Nope. This is not the way he sang it either. Listen to Robert the wild raw way he sings it. Then listen to the Eric Crapaton way. I honestly have never seen what everyone sees in Eric C. playing. He is a good player, not really rock if you ask me or true blues. I really love Slash and his playing Billy is just incredible but what the F' were they thinking doing the cream version? What a shit slap to Robert. I have played guitar for decades and I try to do crossroads every few years. I got a few riffs with the slide down and can kinda hit the vocal but man it is sooooooo slick. Cream version is all fucking so easy sloppy shit I could do in my sleep while dreaming about some other shit. Seriously Robert Johnson had something that thank god unlikely as it was was caught on record in its infancy. That shit recording equipment in a shit environment but man you hear it and if you are a musician you go wow! Also no overdubs 1 take only. WOW I have NEVER heard a band do it justice. I had hopes with these guys and prepared myself for a treat... until I saw that they did the cream version. Fuck.
