I LOVE THE SIREN TAIl! I am so excited to see the new season 3 episodes! Did you know the finis foil is actually used for the Siren tail in the actual show! They have great editors!

One thing I have realized, having tried a lot of monofins, is that they make you swim slightly differently, and different movements are going to get you better results in different fins. This is something that I feel like is so hard to explain to other people, but is a really big piece of information. That is why I think watching swimming videos of people who have had a fin for a while is so valuable when choosing. Also I am getting a Minos and I am so pumped

I only have two monofins, a modified competitor and a mahina, and I have to swim totally differently for both
Confirmed monofins for big feeties from my own direct experience:
I've gotten men to wear both the FinFun and the2tails monofin (but not super comfortably)
The Hydra monofin from Mermaid Kat Shop fits a friend who has size 13 mens feet
My boyfriend managed to fit into the Linden with size 16 mens feet!
Also hey hi hello I personally recommend the Mahina to go nyoom. I wear both the turquoise and black with size 6.5 womens with a slightly wide foot and I sometimes wear socks with them to prevent blistering! Hope this helps anyone out!

I'm fairly new to mermaiding and didn't really do any research for monofins, I just looked through and thought "Hey, I like the color and shape of the fluke on that one." So, I buy it, and lo and behold, it's everyone's favorite, I got the Luna.
I haven't swam in it, though, I can't wait until quarantine is over so that I can.
The Mertailor Guppy tail is a good starter tail that fits it if you were wondering.

I can honestly say the Luna is a little tight on my 10.5 fat feet. Thin/compression socks is how I fixed the issue. ;)

I'll say my two cents. I have a mertailor fantasea fin 1 and I'll be honest I got far without a problem. I was also weird the moment I got in the water I was able to swim perfectly with it. Sometime you get lucky and get the right fin for yourself right off the bat.
I also watched mermaid swim tutorial video's, and toke the video explanations to heart. If you have a certain monofin you want to swim in because you love the shape or you think will work with your feet the best. Watch youtube video's of people swimming in and pay attention to how their bodies moving.

I have the mahina I also have size 11 US feet but they are also wide. I can understand it being uncomfortable I personally had to modify the opening and I have scars from wearing and not wanting to take it off. It is also my second monofin and definitely love the propulsion. Also Love your reviews and your encouraging mood.
Do you use any other monofins? I have a friend with larger, wide feet and the mahina just does not work for her.
My favourite monofin is the "Triton", it's the smallest of the 3 (Triton, Hydra, Minos).
i have the medium sized one (and an orca tailskin for it).
I like my Finis shooter the best, I think fits me best with my swim socks and it’s fast ! I also have a Mahina, and the only problem I have is the ankle strap will cause blisters without scuba socks and they are very thick and then the monofin becomes too small, hard to get on ! I have very small feet so finding the right monofin for your foot size is very important !
Hey Mermaid Courtney! I just had enough money saved up to get my first tail and fin! But I was wondering about the Mahina, I have a wide 11 sized foot, does the Mahina support it?
That's a tough one for me to say for sure. I know they have a decent range of sizes, but many people complain about the comfort. If you were to get a large enough size, I would suggest leaving room in your sizing for socks.
I have size 11 wide feet and the mahina fits me,it is snug though so if you blister easily you might want socks to go with it as the ankle band is stiff.I have never had any issues with it but I know many do.Congratulations on getting your first tail💖
Hey thanks for attempting to answer my very long questions (@dammitspawk) I know it was very involved haha! I had a feeling your answer would be the Luna anyway XD but I’m looking forward to knowing any monofin design ideas you may have in the future! Also I totally get why the Luna is your fav, I bought one for myself two years ago on your recommendation and love it to bits. I also get bad cramping of my feet and calves and my solution has been mostly making sure I drink at least a litre of water before hitting the pool, eating a banana as well, and having a gatorade near by! The Luna is perfect for the pool and the lake, it’s an investment I’m very glad I made!

What was your first fin? What about it did you like/not like. From there you can figure out which direction to go.

Hi, Im just about to start my journey as a Mermaid but I didnt really know Which monofin was best for the thing. LOVED YOUR VIDEO!! Really like the propulsion ones like minos or linden. Do you think those Will be a problem to fit on some fabric tails like the finfolk etc? Thanks
"don't ever just assum you are going to throw it on, jump in the pool ans swim off into the sunset" me: "kinda happened to me" when I had my fist mono fin on (which I was always wearing with my tail skin) I maneged to swim with it really fast (ok I've been training whithout a monofin (and later two normal fins hold togeter) for quiet a while so I don't know it really counts

Courtney, I abshellutely LOVE the Luna but I bought a FinFolk and need a fin that's appropriate for it, and can't do the Linden because it causes me massive amounts of pain in my feet (a friend let me use hers and I'm so glad i didn't have to buy it to find that out!). I have pretty tall/thick feet that are 9.5 triple wide (44 in eu for anyone reading this) and was wondering if the Minos would work because a review on the website says they're "narrow". Since you also have larger feet and the Luna is soooo good for both of us I thought you might know. (Also if you have a discount code for it that would be cool. 😎)
Ooo that's a tough one. I wonder if the Minos will be too long from the Finfolk flukes? That would be a question for them though since I don't have one of their tails. Unfortunately I don't have a discount code for the Minos. Good luck though and let me know how it goes!
@@CourtneyMermaid I hadn't thought that far ahead. Like, it really sucks having picky feet!! Every fin I wanna use is bad for me. I just finally got to try the FF1 and that was tight across the top and bottom but I was able to use it without any damage after.

Okay this isn’t a monofin question, but I think maybe it could be interesting to talk about. What is your opinion on long fish tails like the ones in H2O?
Personally they’ve never been my cup of tea. The only long tails I have ever really loved are the ones from Hook. Those were perfect!

It’s being replaced by a new version of the same fin but made of rubber instead of silicone.

Hi, I have been working with both fin fun tails for awhile now but I think my kicks are to powerful for the stitching of them now. I love doing underwater flips and tricks that require precision and I’m pretty sure that that is what is doing them in. (I have broken the reinforced sole out of the AMP from this.)What fin would work best for tricks like that? I guess which ones have less drag/floatiness?
Fin fun has a new elite monofin you could try if you want to stick with them 🙂

I’m sad that my in country monofin aren’t famous so it kinda hard to find, I managed to find some products from Finis (the rest are China’s rip-off) so i think I’ll buy the Luna because it’s comfortable, suitable for beginners and it’s easy to take it out in emergency situations
