Is too much fuss made over bosoms? (1966) | RetroFocus

- As the topless dress loomed as the next big thing in fashion, evangelist Billy Graham started a campaign against "the worship of the bosom."
Sydneysiders were asked if too much fuss was being made over women's breasts.

@@andylutz3505 Yes, and one thing to factor in is that during the 60s there was massive immigration to Australia from the UK so it wouldn't be surprising to hear British accents in these videos.

So for anyone confused as to what a topless dress was, I looked it up online. There was a fashion movement back then in the “swinging 60s” to wear dresses that left your breasts completely exposed. No bra or anything. That’s what they’re talking about.
Is that why they call it the swinging 60s?

The internet: yes.
These clips of 60s Australia are so fascinating. We view this time as one steeped in repression and conservatism (I mean the the older people, not the swinging sixties youth) yet the general public are really quite open minded, easy going and thoughtful.
Their accents are different to ours as well.
Yet they took seriously concerns Billy Graham's diseased mind came up with.
They are speaking with the real Aussie accent, nowadays people stick an “A” on the end of many words,eg: heeya for here, neeya for near toowa, for tour , etc . God knows where it came from but I wish it would piss off.
It's almost like relative conservativism creates thoughtful, well-spoken people and our secular progressive culture and lack of real education leads to the people you would find on the streets today.
@@frankh2811 Im with you. Absolutely hideous. You'd never hear these old accents in Bondi Junction now or see people as well dressed.
Born 73. In 66 dad was 23 or 24 and in the army. Mum was 17-18 and in her native Peru and would emigrate here instead of the U.S as originally planned, in July 1970, same month as dad's birthday.
I just love seeing how things were in the 60s as they had a very different feel to the 70s. Things modernised so much from the late 60s to the point where the late 70s was unrecognisable.

He was trying to say what most of us think. Please no Camels.
1966 this was, and here in 2020 we’re still having the same arguments. When are we going to let people dress in the manner that they prefer?
This matter can be resolved with a little bit indepth debate. Now u can say why completely topless dresses may not work,.given todays principles which ppl abide with they are easily gonna get deluded by woman. That can be problematic for men as it would distract them.
the discussion has been blown into ridiculous proportions. Has nothing to do with this vid

Women feed babies with them I don't think they are a bad thing at all.

@@julienielsen3746 I mean babies feed very often and you need to go grocery shopping or an occasional trip to the shopping centre. So yh you'll end up feeding in public eventually. I don't really see what's wrong with that, breast feeding is an innocent thing.
@@pleasedontlookforme8036 My sister used to take breast milk in a baby bottle when they went to restaurants with the baby, or wherever. In all fairness, I think the one guy was talking about bosoms, the actual sculptures, which are a fairly normal form of European art.
But also .....bosoms.
Bosom doesn't mean sculpture. Are you thinking of bust? That does indeed have a double meaning, now that you mention it.
The guy also used the word malleable, which is a pretty bizarre description either way, but fits more with a breast than with a sculpture
