Korkyt is a person deeply revered by Kazakh people. Kazakh folklore is rich in myths and legends about his life. The birth of Korkyt was foreshadowed by a strong storm, thunderstorm and showers that lasted three days. The sky was densely covered with clouds. His mother gave birth to him after 9 days of painful contractions. People were sure that this unusual phenomenon is connected with the baby. People said that the baby scared them. And they called him Korkyt, which means "to scare."
