Yup. I was involved in a head on collision a few years ago. Both of my ankles were shattered (among a slew of other things) I’m lucky to be alive much less walking upright. When they checked, it came back to me. I have seen people who are definitely not disabled parking in the disabled stop.

Something similar happened to a friend. He pulled into a handicap spot and before he got out someone started complaining that he can't park there. I've had people come up and try and feel my legs, even trying to pull up my pant legs!! People have no shame.. ive even been told if I could play wheelchair basketball, I didn't need a disabled parking spot close to entrance.. not realizing its not only the distance, but the width of the parking spot that matters , otherwise cars are parked too close!!

As someone with a disabled mother who doesn’t look disabled. Can confirm that you don’t have to be missing a limb to qualify. And I love that she says “well you don’t look disabled” while also not looking disabled.
I can back this up as someone who was trained as a CNA not all disabilities appear outwards one of the many cases could be nerve damage to (which my parent has) kind people often suffer the most…

I have had this happen, except the lady cursed at me in front of my little kids. Not only do I have the placard, I also have disabled tags. Then she had the police come, and they questioned me. When they checked, it came back to me.
I have seen people who are definitely not disabled parking in the disabled stop.

Something similar happened to a friend. He pulled into a handicap spot and before he got out someone started complaining that he can't park there. My friend opens his door, grabs his crutches and jumps out of his truck, landing on his ONLY leg. He looked at the other guy and asked why not? The guy was definitely embarrassed afterwards 😂😂
I've had people come up and try and feel my legs, even trying to pull up my pant legs!! People have no shame.. ive even been told if I could play wheelchair basketball, I didn't need a disabled parking spot close to entrance.. not realizing its not only the distance, but the width of the parking spot that matters , otherwise cars are parked too close!!

Lol. Not related but reminds me of what happened to my brother. He returned to his car in the car park and couldn’t get the lock to open, swearing and kicking the car. Another guy standing nearby seemingly wanted to help and offered his keys. Brother didn’t take that too well, his mood not improving, thinking the guy was being a total smart Arse. It was then the guy pointed out it was his car and not brothers. Just happened to be an identical car to his, which was parked nearby.

My wife and I both have disabilities and we each have a parking badge. However, our handicap isn't obvious. Unless you know our medical history. Which is nobodies ones business. So we get this all the time. I even have a sticker in my window that says 'not all disabilities are obvious'. Doesn't stop self righteous idiots from opening their gob.
