- In the bowels of Jabba the Hutt's Palace, sadomasochistically programmed droid supervisor EV-9D9 welcomes C-3PO and R2-D2 into his robotic workforce. Here we see her dedicated torturer assistant 8D8 using a smelting device on a helpless GNK "Gonk" power droid.

Imperial officer thank you but the last Death Star kinda exploded so to prevent gonk torture I have set up a protest so the Jawas can sell these gonk droids and give them good homes and not be taken in to the mighty Jabba’s palace and be safe. I hope the empire understands this.

@E.Z Productions Yea but we are talking about GONK droid here - these are so dumb and lack sense of self-preservation, that if you tell one to walk foward it will literally walk foward and fall of cliffs. I heard they were banned on Coursant cause they often fell of the platforms and crushed the civilians below, and are allowed to be used only in places with guardrails

Actually you might be right. Droids don't feel pain, not unless they are programmed to (would say the b1 droids are an example buuuuuut it can also be the internal computer reacting with a common pain expression when they are hit/dismembered, not that they feel pain. Yet i can only remember that from Republic Commando). AND, they don't talk. So either are some living being hiding inside the shell of a gonk droid, or some parasitic droid that took control, or just a spy droid that uses pain receptors to point out when getting under fire/on dangerous matter.

@omarbaba9892 George Lucas later said it was a eg6 droid now honestly I believe it was said due to everyone developing a love for gnk droids but it was also stated that eg6 were highly modular with the one in the scene supposedly having a vocabulator installed its all highly spectaclive but others also have pointed out that eg6 have pressure relief and heat sensors valves installed on there feet well gnk droids do not supposedly...at keast that's my knowledge of them

I set up a protest to stop gonk torture but we need the Jawas help so they can find good homes for them. A friend of mine that works for the empire said he would gladly take some gonk droids in and supply them jobs there

I’d like to point out that those droids contain a fusion reactor cooled by cooling fluid which can be vented through the feet if the reactor gets too hot, why this would be a painful process for a walking power generator one can only imagine.

This is thematically one of the coolest parts of the movies. It’s a decaying futuristic world past it’s prime and future phase, full of broken machines that nobody knows the home of.

They normally can't. 9D9 is the result of a software glitch that gave him true free will. However, as it's a glitch, it didn't also impart morals, so he's basically a psychopath. Most droids are not like that, and would never torture another droid.
The droid probably avoided memory wipes long enough to gain some degree of sentience.

Interesting fact the droid being tortured wasn't actually a gonk droid but instead a eg6 droid which had sensitive pressure relief valves on there feet used by the droid to relief pressure as well as avoid environmental scenarios that could cause them to overheat

In Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, one of the bounty missions is returning 9D9's (and she's mentioned by name) "assistant" to her. 9D9 is acting rather suspicious the entire time, telling you 8D8 is "broken" and "confused" and you shouldn't take anything the droid says at face value.
When you return 8D8 (who expresses he'd rather die than be returned to Jabba's Palace), 9D9 says "My my, you HAVE been a busy boy, 8D8. This calls for some very severe... punishment."
It's never outright said, but if you know the context, it's very clear what's going on and what fate you just sealed for 8D8. By far the darkest mission in the game, although I doubt most know who 9D9 is and would understand that.
