I think people have challenges with their relatives or friends and families because the realities of life abroad are never told when they visit home, but only to flaunt their hard earned wealth. Some of which are by out of pocket or loans.

One day you will understand why parents take money from men who want to marry thier children, most men just want to marry the ladies just for nkrata , then after they divorced them, and also they marry the ladies just for them to support them fanancially , the men knows they will pay more to bring a woman from Ghana, that’s why parent charge them
Am 20 years I came to the uk last year wen I was 19 ..my own mother who brought me here is charging me 20 000 pounds because she brought me meanwhile the lawyer that did the visa took 4000 pounds for I and my kid brother .I still pay rent monthly as well ..she said it all ..there’s no family in the diaspora
She's not charging you for how much the lawyer took from her. £20,000 probably includes visa fees from Ghana, airline tickets, residence permit application fees and other travel expenses. Sometimes, the amount spent cannot be well quantified. Your mum probably took a loan pr emptied her savings account to make everything possible for you. Loans build up interests she can't ask you to pay for. Will you be prepared to give your mum your savings after working in the UK for 10 years? Just think about it. It's not easy. Just my opinion. Hmmmm
