    This fight lived up to the hype wonderfully.

    Everyone knows that I am far from being a Leonard fan but that response Ray gave Tommy at the press conference was sheer GENIUS!! That took some balls "buddy you better be ready, pop-pop-pop-all night long, that's gonna be your head!"

    An interesting role reversal in this fight... Leonard sort of became the puncher and Hearns the boxer.

    Two of the greatest fighters of all time,although leonard was my favorite boxer,i have the up most respect for Hearns.They both would have destroyed Mayweather.

    @SaiBoxTV He was also one brave man. Hearns was scary. Hearns is my favorite fighter of all time. SRL proved how great he was, he was so tired and had to overcome so much against Hearns.

    Hearns was saved by the bell over and over in this fight! Tommy's great, but I remember watching this fight and thinking "It's all over...then Ding"!

    7:57 He wants to stop a fight that his man is winning because he'd just had a bad round that he had survived??
    I know a trainer wants to protect his fighter but come on!!

    Ive read Four Kings, great book, but i remember, in agreement that duran was not the best trained fighter, he would actually multiple times hit the heavyweight limit because he got out of shape so much

    Really? what would the names of these book's be? I've never seen any book's about boxing written by Bob Arum.

    my friend im not lieing, im just saying what ive read,im reading a book at the mo called four kings, by george kimbell, which also points out he trained alot in his 4 year break. do u really think his stupid enogh to jump striaght back in the ring.

    they where books by bob arum and other boxing reporters,who where around all the camps at the time.

    He didn't run in this fight, Pryor got lost in drug addiction and Ray fought Hagler at Middleweight... without a single tune up fight and a four year lay off! He fought Duran toe to toe on the first fight and barely lost by a point! Look what Hearns, Hagler and Benitez did to Duran!

    Leonard was favored. I listened to oddsmakers and won money on this fight

  • @Justentime77

    The fact that people gambled their retirement funds on a fight that was too close to call was just moronic!

    Its called weight not opposition. Duran was a natural lightweight, not a welterweight, as was Chavez. Hagler fought at middleweight almost 20 pounds heavier than Duran's natural weight. And the Hagler-Duran fight was close. Ask Ring magazine how good Duram was. They only ranked him 3rd on the 50 greatest fighters of the last 50 years, or two spots ahead of leonard

    Tommy could weigh in at 147 and with the 6 foot 1 frame over night he would be 170 pounds

    Of course I know he trained for the fight. I'm not suggesting he put down the potato chips, got off the couch and in to the ring. TRAINING and actually FIGHTING are two very different things and you can't escape "Ring Rust" without competing at that level. You're not lieing but you mentioned reading books that don't exist to support your claim. It's obvious you're a Duran fan and have a problem with Leonard. I've watched Ray from the 76' Olympics on and he's one of the best to ever "Lace Em Up".

  • @Justentime77
    @Justentime77 15 лет назад

    Yeah, you've read numerous books that state he was sparring four times a week while he was retired....sure you have. What books would those be exactly...."Marvin Hagler's Autobiography's"? Duran lost to Hearns (By explosive second round knock out), Hagler, Benitez and Leonard (in fight two where he was humiliated). These were the biggest fighters of that era and Duran lost to EVERYONE of them! Chavez was great too, until he stepped up in opposition!

  • @zoomed66
    @zoomed66 15 лет назад

    thats a myth srl didnt fight, after his semi retirment, ive read numerous books, that state he was sparring 4 times a week and always kept in fighting shape,there was talk he started training up for the hagler fight, a year before the fight was even made, because he knew he could get hagler in the ring. do you really thn srl is the better fighter than duran a smaller man and hagler, come on he just won the only way he knew he could.

  • @zoomed66
    @zoomed66 16 лет назад

    srl, runs around the ring and fustrates duran, ducks aaron pryor,robs hagler,didnt really want to fight hearns.

    ok, u must've just started watching boxing. you cant be serious if pacman belonged in the ring with leaonard and hearns! hearns was 6'1 as you out it "right punch power", lol with a great jab. as far as leonard goes, he'll kill pacman. with his speed and power. fighters like sugar ray robinson, arron pryor, roberto duran, meldrick taylor, pernall whitikar, terry norris to me are better then pacman. and if paul williams was still fighting at 147 mayweather nor pacman wouldn't stand a chance.
