That's unpleasant but it can happen anywhere. A dozen cars in Palm Beach Florida were broken into in one evening when I lived there so I know this can occur any place there are people. Don't let this destroy your view of that city. It's one bad person, not the whole city. One lesson: NEVER LEAVE ANYTHING VALUABLE IN YOUR CAR.

I agree....we cannot judge the whole city for one incident (you should see how many robberies we have here in Portland, Oregon....it's bad!!!! ....sorry about what happened though....

Or not valuable but visible. When there is nothing visible they don’t tend to bother. That they attempted to take the battery too makes me think that’s a bad neighborhood or at the least, they know it’s an Airbnb and so whoever is parked there is a good target.

yes, it was in the heat of the moment. We don't truly dislike the city; it was just a moment in time where Landy was upset. She definitely wears her heart on her sleeve.😁

I agree as well I live here in Salt Lake city usually the last place people expect to have something like this happen, but it does , a family traveling had there vehicle stolen at a agas station broad day light U.S.A, property crime is pretty high in Salt Lake City. Also I'm here because my family is from slp , we are from the Rancho and my father is warning me not to travel solo in the capital that is why I'm watching this lol. SLP also has alot of narco problems going on as well seen mostly in The outter colonias and Ranchos , Rio Verde, villa Juarez,Corte primera. These areas are very very poor and cartels have taken advantage of that to set up shop.

It's a bummer that your car got broken into, unfortunately leaving stuff in the car can be seen isn't good and can happen anywhere in the world. In general San Luis Potosi. is very safe. -Marc

Uy! Que genio😑. I just got my car broken into here in America. They broke my window after they followed my husband after a money withdrawal from the bank. The police got all the videos where they were following him, but could't get a license plate. I still love America as much as I love San Luis Potosi.🥰 That happens in every city.😤

I'm so sorry those thieves broke into your car. But luckily your windows are ok. Glad you guys have the resources to get a new car seat for baby louie right away. Unfortunately, street parking is probably not the safest. Always try to find a pension or like you said have your own private parking. So sorry this happened! Glad you guys are alright.

I am sorry your car was broken into. Like others have mentioned it can happen anywhere but the feeling is so infuriating nonetheless. Please be careful, don't let your guard down, and be safe. Mexico is so beautiful in so many ways - it sucks that people can ruin a good thing in a blink of an eye. Take care you guys!

Petty crime is common in the US. I go with the mindset, anything you leave in the car is something you're willing to gift to thieves.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. I've lived in 4 countries (US, Japan, Spain, Portugal) with varying crime rates. It is always best practice to never leave anything in your car. I don't even leave my phone charger, cables, or GPS connector in view. If you need to leave something in your car, then put it under a seat out of view or in the trunk. I know having someone break into your car makes you feel violated, but it is fortunate they didn't add to the cost by breaking a window to get to the car seat and the other items they took. This could have easily happened in the US or Canada when items of value are left in cars in parking lots while shopping or on the street overnight. Best wishes and safe travel on the rest of your journey.

It was not bad, no broken window, I never got a broken window untill I came to live to the US
I don't know where my little daughter had the idea that Mexico is a dangerous place to go, I do live in a metro area in the US and my car has been broken into many times, shootings every day, murders pretty often, reckless driving getting worse, drug dealing and zombie people walking on the streets
    I think a safe place it's a relative concept.
Slp it's relatively safe, but Querétaro it's safer if compared to slp
    Enjoy Nexico lindo y querido!

Agreed. It was just a an in-the-moment reaction, but yes safety is relative. There are terrible places in Mexico, worse than SLP, and horrible places are in the US. We lived in one in Houston. 😂

“we got robbed in Mexico” man, what sad people to be trying to lure views with cheap excuses like that. Without regard to the bad reputation they may be giving this place and its people, for petty crime of all things. You sure don’t look like you’re from a country that has little petty crime. The fact you’re allowed there in that place you should take that as a privilege, not a given. Behave more decently next time please.

I was born and raised there and it used to be a beautiful city, no one bothered anyone and everyone was very friendly in the plazas, but now that the cartels have taken over everyone is acting out, robbing, shooting and doing whatever they want, the police is to scared to do anything and honestly y’all moved to Mexico at the worst time, it’s a shame seeing my beautiful city go down, I used to love that plaza and going to the tangamanga park back in the 90s with my parents and cousins, we used to live 5min from that park.
My advice to tourist is to stay away from Mexico at all cost.
