The Japanese cards do add another level of cool / uniqueness imo. I’m personally the same, I love my dragon types! Latios/Latias are up there and I’m keen to see them in this upcoming pack. I love looking at my old delta species Dragonite and Latios rares - bring me to Gen 3 gaming
Well done, Paradise Dragona coming your way! Please claim your gift by October 1st - DM me on Instagram @phillips.collectibles (preferred), or if you don't have socials, please email, the latter can be found on my RUclips Profile.
Set is actually looking crazy! I’ve never actually bought any single japanese Pokemon TCG boosters, but I think it’s a moment when I’m tempted to buy a box! It's been a while since any set has excited me this much Fantastic opening Phillip! Happy to hear your voice in better condition❤
I don’t know if I’m being too wishful but seeing Flygon in this set and knowing Megas are coming back brings me hope that we will see Mega Flygon ex next year
@@phillips.collectibles it really does. I wish there was a gyarados or dragonite in the set but I think they are trying to promote lesser know dragon types. Can't wait to see what the Pikachu part of this set looks like.
Me and my partner have been collecting since we’ve had our daughter as she loves Pokemon and shes now at the age where she’s enjoying opening them herself instead of just the pictures on the cards. We’ve had a blast with SC and we are super excited for SS to drop.
I got back into the hobby recently, and your opinion has definitely helped me consider certain purchases. Thanks for your endless input and transparency on the hobby!
I just started getting into collecting Pokémon cards a few weeks ago and went head first. I was considering buying some Latios and Latias sets and graded cards and then saw your video about this set. So I now know what I have to look forward to so thank you so much!
I‘m focused on collecting Japanese Cards and S-CHN. The quality is just outstanding and the overall collecting experience is incredible from box opening to ripping packs, enjoying the art and completing your sets. Great to see you got some nice pulls ✌️
My younger brother got me back into collecting pokemon cards a few weeks ago after 18 years, and I can’t thank him enough for it. I’m having so much fun, and it gives us another topic to talk about. Opening packs is definitely a little addictive for us😂 but I’m going to start looking at acquiring singles on eBay to save money. That way, I’ll get the cards with the artwork I love, and anything I get from packs is a big bonus. Thank you for your fun and informative videos!
Loved watching this. I’ve only recently got back into collecting Pokemon cards and started with Japanese 151. For some reason the Japanese cards hit differently to English cards. Collecting and admiring the artworks whilst reminiscing about past good times Pokemon has given me is helping me survive my mental struggles at the moment.
I love the Japanese cards. I live in France and have challenges getting English cards. I don’t particularly like the French sets so I can focus on Japanese for better quality and better long term value. Thx for your great content!
This set is pretty dang nice finally having black Kyurem as a ex card plus some other dragons, I recon it’s pretty cool. That cast from definitely got my attention because the artwork is so cool showing the land around it with all the different types of weathers ✨
The set would is going to be great depends on the pull rate of latios and latias on surging sparks. People would go chase the card on Paradise dragona. Still on the edge on buying
I just started buying pokemon cards. I was into Yugioh back in 2008-2012 but i stoped after a while. But the pokemon artwork has just elevated my opinion in them and i love it.
Started watching your channel awhile back! Initially I thought your content was just this person who doesn't know what they're talking about just throwing out random opnions on the Pokemon TCG landscape in hopes to turn a profit for himself. But as I continue to consume your content I realized that I was getting more and more educated on Pokemon Collecting, and your tips and advices are definitely very helpful! Thank you for sharing your love for the hobby!
I recently got into Pokemon again once I realized how expensive some of my cards are. My friends got hooked as well and I enjoyed getting cards especially chasing the garchomp from Paradox rift since he's my favorite. But then it turned into chasing the sets with expensive cards and it all became a more disappointing experience. I learned from my mistake and I'm learning to enjoy this hobby again and anything expensive pulled is just extra.
I used to collect Pokemon cards when they first released, but stopped. Now I have two sons, the oldest being four years old. He's starting to get into Pokemon a lot these days, so we decided to start collecting cards together. Your videos have been a great help for me to learn some of the things I've missed out on over the past 20 years of not collecting. Thanks for the content.
My dad went on a business trip to Japan when I was in grade school. Will never forget when he brought back a couple of booster packs. I was obsessed with the golden border on the back.
I just got back into collecting after a long time and you videos have helped steer me in the right direction on what to collect and avoid. I have yet to open any of the Japanese sets but after seeing this I may try and pick one up!
yo phil I’m going through similar experiences as your past. I have started getting eczema, gained weight, and I’m not doing great mentally but things are starting to look better ever since i’ve started collecting pokemon cards again. I’m glad I came across your channel, good luck with your youtube journey!
Thank you for your videos! As a mom of 5, I just got back in to the cards I been a pokémon fan since it come out! The cards really help me have some me time
I’m getting back into collecting and I’m hoping to start my new collection with this set. This set looks absolutely incredible and the card art is just impeccable.
I recently started collecting again, and my first ever Japanese set was 151, some of the art work is amazing, and I pulled a master ball abra.. So cool
Hi Phillip! I've been binge-watching all of your videos and as a marketing specialist, I absolutely love your approach to Pokemon collecting. Please keep it going! I just started to play Pokemon Sword on my Nintendo Switch and one of the Pokemon that I became very fond of is Braviary so I'm super excited about the release of Paradise Dragona, I'd love to pull Braviary, Skarmory, and Latios ARs♥
Ya, I just bought a box of paradise dragona a few days ago, it’s my first ever booster box so I really hope I get a good card like Lisia’s appeal! Wish me luck!
Set looks so good! My mates and I have all recently gotten back into the card collecting - cracking open packs on a weekend has become such an enjoyable, wholesome way for us to catch up😊
I kind of just slipped into pokemon again after falling off yugioh hard this year. your videos have been great for answering a lot of things I've been wondering about as someone who used to only look into pokemon from the outside before.
Im stationed in okinawa. I just started collecting and recently discovered my local 7/11 sells pokemon cards. I bought the remainder of a paradise dragona box with 17 boosters in it. I swear i got 5 AR, 4 RR, 1 SR, and a cool rare card all from 17 openings. It blew my mind how much better paradise dragona was versus stller miracle or mask of change.
Very interesting channel! You've struck a great balance between providing financial insight while also showing great appreciation for the hobby and Pokemon as a whole. Great job!
I’ve been enjoying collecting Japanese cards. The card quality is great and I can usually find the cards for cheaper. So they are perfect for a binder collection. Keep up the videos 👍
My daughter got me back into pokemon, thats how i found channels like yours. I super appreciate your videos. Ive learned a lot from you. Anyway i may save up $ for whats coming up these nexy few months
I’ve been really attracted to the Japanese pokemon card market. I feel they are full of better quality cards that look better than English counterparts. Really cool video!
Box art looks amazing! It seems like these Japanese boxes have sizable amount more hits and the quality definitely looks a lot better controlled than at least U.S printed cards, likely due to what you said earlier, could be the demand .
I like the direction they are taking the rainbow cards by only adding it to the border so you can still see the full art of the Pokémon in color! Hopefully we get that Damascas card camo soon😂
Me personally would like to open this paradise dragona box as the lisias apeal card looks absolutely stunning 😮 ❤ (Great pulls and very informative video)
Japanese Pokémon cards fell much better than the English ones. The boxes look better, print quality is better and the usually smaller sets are a nice change. But their downfall in my opinion is the smaller packs, maybe it’s just because I am used to the 10 cards pack but I don’t know I like that better. Anyways Phil you always seem to get great hits on these box openings😂 that’s amazing!
I think the Japanese versions look better due to the cards feeling like higher quality and I like seeing japanese symbols more than our own letters on cards
Agree the Japanese cards hit different. Got in to Pokemon in the middle of the SWSH era, and struggle a bit with S&V. Miss the texture on cards, not as much of it in S&V sets.
Hey phil I went to Japan recently. I visited the Tokyo and Osaka Pokémon centres. Do you know why the staff remove the shrink wrap when purchasing booster boxes in the store? Does that affect the value of the box?
Yes it does. Though they do it to stop the reselling. Those boxes are perfect for ripping open! Japanese 151 had an insane scalper issue and a lot places sell without shrink wrap. If it’s a reputable store it’s usually safe.
I love the beachy feel to the set. Seems like a happier set with nicer dragons and a lighter atmosphere. As opposed to the mysterious twilight masquerade. Where pokemon get lost in the night...
Just got back into Pokémon, used to be all into it around 2012-2017. I wish I kept some of that stuff sealed 😂 but now, I am watching your videos and I am trying to invest smartly and keep sealed product!
As someone who's into fountain pens, I think the Japanese cards using better quality cardstock just has to do with the paper manufacturers they have access to over there. Japan still has a pretty analog culture where many workers use physical planners and theres enough demand to support special edition notebooks/planners coming out every year. Plus pens ofc😁. As a result, id think the Japanese pokemon card manufacturers would have access to high/higher? quality paper manufacturers close by within Japan that they can form close relationships with and possibly have them develop a custom paper for the cards conaidering just how many they have to be printing.
I love the hype this set is getting because I have been counting down the days for this set. As soon as I saw some of the cards I knew this set would be sooo good. Love the content man keep this uppp 🎉

It's like it's your birthday! 😂 there's something about ripping that serrated edge that creates such a satisfying feel hey? Thanks for your vids mate. Always a great watch and chat 🫡

Getting back into the hobby now after 20 years. And this pack came at a best time as I have started collecting dragon types as my first goal! Just praying my wife don't beat me up for overdoing it XD. Congratz on those rares though! Keep up with the rippin!
Personally, it’s interesting how I’m a “dragon set” the sickest cards are not dragons 😂 I love the Alolan exeggutor, but Skarmory and Braviary are wild!!!🔥🔥🔥 I can’t wait to have them on my hands! Awesome pulls, Phill 👌🔥

Just about to start collecting again after a year out, really tempted to start Japanese packs and this video has convinced me Japanese packs may be the way! 🎉🎉❤
Just getting back into the TCG after almost 20 years. What is the difference between this and the upcoming Surging Sparks? Wouldn't a Set with Pikacu in it be potentially more worth?
Nice to hear you’re feeling better. Was so sad hearing your voice man! I’m excited for Paradise Dragona. Crazy that just the regular IR cards so nice. Feel like a few of them should have been SAR.
Been so excited for this set to see the beautiful cards created in real life will be amazing. With the full art these days it gives you opportunity to appreciate the creativity and art of the cards. I'm all for Japanese pack recently I never thought I would but they have really captured me. I'm hoping to pull a Skymory from this set... Love the channel helps all the time with the collecting and investing, keep it going.
Is it worth it to try a box of Japanese cards to see the difference? I’m just getting back into collecting and just wondering if the quality difference is that noticeable
That Appletun IR is such a cool artwork. I agree, S&V is really starting to produce some quality. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next. Keep up the great work mate. Thank you
Looks like a great set. Love opening Japanese sets, the quality is amazing 🎉 Most fun I ever had in opening a set, besides the base set back in the day, was when I opened the Shiny Star V set in 2020. A hit in every pack, baby shiny cards and I even pulled the Charizard Vmax. Also the Marnie card and the other full arts were stunning... Thanks for another video man 👍🏻
I have good news about Japanese cards and TCGPlayer... its coming in October. Might be worth your next video lol. How will this affect the Japanese market? Will more Japanese product move? At first, TCGPlayer will not have market pricing data, because they have not sold anything, so it will be the wild west in terms of pricing. What are some cards to look for? What should I avoid?
Just wondering why this set is a good investment? Or is it just fun to open since like all Japanese sets since you’re guaranteed an SIR and guaranteed perfect print quality.

I think the Japanese just take more pride in everything they do. Their print quality is a testament to that.
Might be so but I personally don’t collect any Japanese cards at all … I prefer English because it’s the language I understand ..
Meanwhile 151…
Nah English is significantly better quality the Japanese version is like a beta version of them

I'm with you! Hopefully megas return in Legends ZA
This set really gives off Southern Islands vibes. I wish they would redo that set but this is a good tropical vibe set to compliment that set.
Yeah it really does. It has an amazing theme.

@@phillips.collectibles no way man, that is so hype 🥹💝
Your videos are just AAA+ quality, the way you edit your videos makes them pleasing to watch.
Very nice video! The quality control on Japanese cards seems so much better than on English cards
That Appletun IR is such a cool artwork. I agree, S&V is really starting to produce some quality. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next. Keep up the great work mate. Thank you
Latios Latias let's go !!! Amazing looking pair of cards. Thanks for sharing your thoughts from an investor's perspective as always.
Im in japan right now. Which boxes should I buy? Thank you!
Hey Phil! Thanks for the great content as always, and shoutout for always giving back to the community! The Latios SIR is definitely on the radar
Looks like a great set. Love opening Japanese sets, the quality is amazing 🎉
Most fun I ever had in opening a set, besides the base set back in the day, was when I opened the Shiny Star V set in 2020.
Is this legit? Wow....game changer! I can expand more into Japanese pricing. It's always so hard to find accurate price data.
I'm def gonna to pick up some of those sets. I love the art, and the quality is just the next level
Just wondering why this set is a good investment? Or is it just fun to open since like all Japanese sets since you’re guaranteed an SIR and guaranteed perfect print quality.
