I watched this video before I got on the Archery Team (for my school), And now I have won 1st place in an Archery Tournament and I won my own bow! Thank you for these tips- It helped a lot.
Thanks! This really helped me. I'm joining my school's archery club and was confused on how to aim the bow, as i've been missing the target a a lot. This is the first successful tutorial i've found on youtube.
It’s been awhile since I shot one it’s very smooth user friendly and very well built I’ve watch dozens of videos on this bow I’ll definitely be getting another one
I have a great compound bow for myself, but sometimes I'd like to take someone new with me -- this bow is PERFECT so I can just hand whomever that is and give them a quick lesson and enjoy the day! I have bookmarked this video so I can pull it up on my phone when we get on site. Thank you for the quick beginners lesson for the bow I would be handing them.
Good video, looks like a nice facility. I'm from San Francisco, there's no way we could ever get enough space to do an indoor range like that in the city.
I appreciate the video, I'm looking for a much easier to manage bow, I have become much much weaker than I used to be due to health issues and I can't shoot my bow anymore, there forth I am on the market for a new one that a child could shoot even.
Awesome video! I'm going to try the international version of the draw hand today in the backyard. I'm noticing my arrow doesn't fly straight, any hints at what to focus on? It kind of wobbles en route to the target
Matt, If you are seeing side to side movement, also called fish tail, that is typically in your grip or release. If it is up and down that is called porpoise and that can be either your release or the bow setup. Make sure when you are releasing that you are relaxing your fingers not throwing them at the target.
Good video! My 8 yr old grandson was gifted a Genesis bow. I needed to know how to help him shoot it properly. I hunt with a Mathews Q2 XL. So not totally unfamiliar with bows. Is there a pin site available for these bows? Or do you recommend not going to a pin.
I have a Tru-Glow 3 pin site on one of my Genesis bows. Works great. The Genesis Bow is drilled and tapped from the factory for any standard archery site, as well as arrow rest. I don't think I would spend a lot of money on a site system, but any archery site will work. Be aware that NASP rules don't allow a pin type site in the program, but for "backyard" or regular range shooting, a pin site will work fine.
This is the bow that my old school used for the class, so I’m assuming it’s a beginners bow. Anyone can use it! I just bought the same one and hope that it will do well!
SKetti The Producer i have the original bow i don’t exactly know the draw weight but i was wondering if it would drop a turkey with correct shot placement and correct arrow
Genesis bow, this is the Original not the Genesis--X or Gen-X, Even the Kid is like an Original. However, you can get a bow that comes with the sight for kids, but I am not sure if NASP allows that just like they only allow the Genesis arrows made for the company by Easton as Target only arrows without making conversions that then violate the NASP rules. However, NASP is really made for those up to middle school due to bow choice, rather than older since this bow maxes out at 20 pounds and NASP prefers you use the 20 pounds the bow is set at from factory and bans metal nocks forcing the kid to use either a single string or the finger savers found mostly on strictly compound bowfishing bows as the only nocking options, a reason why when you order the bow when loaded it comes with the archery finger savers. Also, you have to use the setup that comes with the bow or if buying separate the same kind of brush biscuit rest for the bow. I am not sure, but I think you have to remove the sight on the bow but not use it for NASP if using the Original model. Now the other thing odd is only a string or the soft finger savers, reason being that idiot teachers in a club with NASP club made the nocking point so bad the arow will not fit the bow, so they only allow the single string or the slide on Finger Savers for the bow, that and safety of not using Nocks they have had the nocks not put on correct before by parents so the metal bits came flying off hitting other archers and are since ban that and others not using a tab/glove got cut by some cheap nocks that were not filed down or put on with the crimp side away from the hand and squished to not have the shape edge on each side closed up. The Genesis--X /Gen-X is used by some pros for Target use with WA rules the few who are sponsored by Mathews as they do not really make bows designed for target/work for targegt use like other companies, PSE, Hoyt, or others. So those sponsored by Mathews for Target archery they Use the Genesis that Mathews since 2000's with the Pro now X model after the original 15--30 pound single model made under a different brand they branded as a beginner/target/Bowfishing bow since everything else is really made for 100% for hunting and maybe bowfishing with not built right for target shooting.
You adjust the draw weight by tightening or loosening the limb bolts. We ship all Genesis bows at full draw weight. (The limb bolts are tightened all the way down.) To adjust for a lighter draw, you loosen the bolts slightly. (We include the proper allen wrench with the bow.) Loosen each bolt the same amount, IE: Back the top bolt out one turn and then back the bottom out one turn. Each full turn will take approximately 3 pounds off the draw weight. We do not recommend loosening the bolts more than 5-6 turns. TO replace the arrow rest, simply push the included rest out from behind and then install the new rest in its place. Please note that if you install an aftermarket rest on a Genesis bow, it may not be legal to use in NASP tournaments. (Genesis Archery Employee)
Yes. We drill and tap all Genesis risers so you can put a sight on them. You can also change out the arrow rest for something like a whisker biscuit. There is also a tapped hole for a stabilizer on the front of the bow. I have actually added all of these on one of my own Genesis bows. Be advised though that if you do decide to add a sight or other accessories to the bow, it will not be legal for NASP competitions. (Genesis Archery Employee)
You usually anchor with your pointer finger on the corner of your lip with your draw hand so it’s usually around that length but don’t be scared to pull on the string
....WHAT? Where do I do for people who don't know any of these words you're using when talking about the bow? I was given a bow as a gift and I know literally nothing about archery
My son shoot compound bow, and he hates the genesis because he doesn’t have his sight. He like it’s dumb and not accurate why would I get a compound bow and not put a sight or a release 😅😅😅 kid made to much sense how many adults shoot genesis
Knock, knock? Who’s there? No explanation of the parts of the bow and the terms related, that’s who. I’d call this Archery 201. But thanks for no background music!

Average Joes,
I want to commend you for not playing music in the background while making a video.
Ikrrrr it’s so hard to retain any info when they are blasting music in your ears lol

I appreciate the video, I'm looking for a much easier to manage bow, I have become much much weaker than I used to be due to health issues and I can't shoot my bow anymore, there forth I am on the market for a new one that a child could shoot even.
Most schools use this bow when I was on my archery team they used these
This was very helpful!

Thank you because I’m a fifth grader and I’m starting archery

So you dont put the odd color fletch up like normal?
Good teacher
How do I properly adjust the draw strength on this bow? And how do I install the arrow rest?
Alex Shaked there isn’t a set draw length
Arrow rest should come stock

Is the “looking down and to the right” thing the same if you’re left handed?
Yeah, don’t believe he was thinking about lefties during this...
What is the distance to the target in this demonstration?
10 yards.
Can you put a sight on this bow?
On the kuda gen x u can that's the bow I use

How far can you pull back on the string? I am scared of breaking the bow with my huge muscles lmao :D
You usually anchor with your pointer finger on the corner of your lip with your draw hand so it’s usually around that length but don’t be scared to pull on the string
Is the bow in the video the genesis original or gen-x?
Idk if it counts if I'm a year late but it's an original
thank you
I use two fingers, is that still sort-of international grip?

Our video on the basics of a bow should help. ruclips.net/video/WG4wZX0AGkU/видео.html
can this bow be used for hunting?
It can not. the draw weight is only 25-30 pounds. Legal hunting draw weight is usually 40 pounds or higher.
POV your here because you started archery in gym and you don’t want to be embarrassed 🥵
My son shoot compound bow, and he hates the genesis because he doesn’t have his sight. He like it’s dumb and not accurate why would I get a compound bow and not put a sight or a release 😅😅😅 kid made to much sense how many adults shoot genesis
I can't help but think of that kid that dry fired it.
I don't like compound bows, but you can't even call this a compound bow.
Don't Have Any Complaints

We covered that in another video so we could get the level of detail needed. See ruclips.net/video/WG4wZX0AGkU/видео.html
