Hey! I've been subscribed to you since lockdown and love your content! Currently, Im in yr 8 and many people tell me its too early to be thinking about my future but I really want to go to Cambridge, like you. Do you have any tips for how I could prepare for yr9 because we start learning GCSE content then?
Hiya! Wow thank you so much!! I really really appreciate the support and it's super lovely to hear that you've been a fan of my channel for this long 🥰 I can't believe how much things have changed since I made my first videos (back when I didn't have nearly as much confidence talking to the camera and still had a side parting 😆) Year 8 is certainly quite early on in most people's academic life to be thinking about the future and where you want to go for higher education, but I have to say I was certainly thinking about it back then too! If you're doing well at school and have ambitions then that's absolutely okay and it's always great to have something to aim for, be that coming to Cambridge or going somewhere else entirely! If people are telling you that Year 8 is too early then it may just be that they're less concerned/driven by academic goals than you are, or that they have other motivators in their life. What matters is that this is YOUR goal, and it's for YOUR future - so if you want to start thinking about it as early as Year 8 then that's totally up to you and not for anyone else to decide :) 💜 In terms of tips, I'd say for the rest of this academic year (so up until the summer) just focus on getting a good understanding of the content so that when it starts to get a bit more complicated next year, you don't feel like you're being thrown in at the deep end. This is most important for things like English, Maths, Science and any languages you might be studying, as the concepts you learn in Years 7 and 8 will be useful to you in the GCSEs too. For English, this isn't necessarily the texts you're studying, but any tips on how to write a good essay/piece of creative writing that you've been told in years 7 and 8 will be helpful for years 9/10/11 too. For Geography/History, Art, Drama, Music, RE, DT etc. - basically all of your other subjects - don't worry too much about keeping up with the concepts from Years 7 and 8 as you'll basically start those from scratch again next year! Over the summer, the most important thing is that you make time to see friends/family and have a rest - because it's likely that you'll have more revision to do over the next couple of summers, so use this summer to make memories! :) For next year and years 10 and 11, the best thing to do is just make revision material as you go! That way, when you finish the syllabus in year 11/before any topic tests/end of year exams, you'll already have your revision material all ready to use :) It'll save you so much time and put you well ahead of your peers. I'd also recommend the website "seneca" for quick revision sessions throughout the year, just to consolidate everything you've been learning. Hope that helps! Good luck, and thank you again for being so supportive of my channel 💜 x
@@life_of_lou Hi Lou, Thank you so much for the advice! I love how you took the time to reply genuinely instead of just rushing it like most RUclipsrs do! You really do deserve many more subscribers!!! I will follow your advice and report back to you in the next few years! :) You are literally my role model and I've recommended your channel to heaps of friends and family as well! I hope that 1 day I can be like you! Thanks again for the tips 💗xx Also, the side parting wasn't that bad🤣
awh i've just been looking back at some replies and this is the kindest ever!! thank you so much for all of the support on my channel, it means the world and i'm so pleased you've found some inspiration from my channel :) wishing you the very best of luck, and please do let me know how it all goes :)
Well! What an impossible question to answer... I'm very tempted to film a ranking video to try and figure this out 😅 I'd currently class myself as more of a 5sos listener than a 1D listener (1D is for nostalgia whereas 5SOS slaps everytime - though FITF, HS1, Fine Line and Heartbreak Weather are some of my favourite albums) I'm a bit too obsessed with all of the last 5sos albums so I'll have pick a song from each album... Self-titled = Good Girls, Sounds Good Feels Good = Jet Black Heart (or Outerspace/Carry On), Youngblood = Monster Among Men, CALM = Old Me, 5sos5 = (impossible choice so here's my top 3) Caramel/Blender/Me Myself & I For 1D - I know it's controversial but Act My Age is a top tier 1D song for me, though if I'm thinking seriously, then probably WDBHG or Stockholm Syndrome? Hope that suffices as an answer to your question! :)

I didn't expect you'll answer it so comprehensively! Thank you Lou ❤
