Perhaps you don't mean to do so, but you paint yourself as a rather self-righteous and very opinionated person who is not as well-educated or as knowledgeable as they believe they are. It is The House Of Lords that was established precisely to ensure that the Houses of Parliament maintained the true impartiality and application of democracy with regard to the fair and just application of law. There have been many cases where democracy would not have been served were it not for the Lords pre-2005 ability to examine government wrongdoing. As you will know, the power of the Supreme Court of the UK is now handled elsewhere. I suggest that you read the forward to The Sterling Redemption book regarding the Sterling Arms Company, James Edmiston (its beleaguered owner) and a gross miscarriage of justice by the then government with regard to the Arms To Iraq affair. (Extract: The Arms to Iraq affair has come to stand for many things: lies by government ministers to protect the state; the sacrifice of innocent men facing prison who had been working for MI6; misuse of Public Interest Immunity Certificates (so-called “gagging orders”) to hide government policy on Iraq; diplomatic hypocrisy; and the downfall of the Conservative government in 1997. How did this happen in Britain and could it ever happen again?)
And if you hadn’t guessed by now from the other comments here in the UK ( and no doubt farther away) we love absolutely love him 😍, we’ve grown up with him and yes he feels like a much beloved Grandad.
I’m absolutely Gobsmacked that it didn’t show his wonderful relationship with our Late Queen & yet they showed Obama. Attenborough & Queen Liz had some fantastic footage together😢
Sir David and our late Queen were the same age and there is a wonderful programme of the two of them walking around the gardens talking about the trees etc. She never gave interviews but it was a great conversation between two friends. The Gorilla clip has gone down in history now. Mothers of young can be aggressive so for her to be comfortable with his presence was amazing even to the point of grooming his hair as her young played with him. His Blue Planet series was the first to really show just how much rubbish was in our oceans.
For reasons no sane person can comprehend the US version of 'Frozen Planet' Sir David was replaced by Alec Baldwin. And Oprah did 'Life'. Oprah!! When will the madness end?
Obviously, Sir David’s calm, moderated but yet informative narration isn’t “showbizzy” or “wham bam in yer face yeah..” dramatic enough for the ear holes of the average USA viewer? Perhaps the USA version should have a few sound effects - maybe the sounds of car chases with police sirens and some “yeahhh baby” shoutouts to emphasise Sir David’s interactions with the wildlife?? *despairs….*
@@weedle30 It's the Yank version of history - The USA did everything that was worth doing. In their isolation they can say and teach whatever they like - and Yanks are like Rachel - they've got to be number 1 and centre stage. Sad.

Sir David Attenborough is a national treasure in the UK. He is a walking encyclopedia of the natural world. His programmes give a rare insight to the animal world and he encourages people to care for our planet! He's in his 90's and there's no stopping him! His brother, Richard Attenborough, was a renowned actor/director.
As an Irish person, I have grown up watching David Attenborough documentaries. He is so loved and rightly so. He will always be in my 'dinner party 5' and is my 5 year old son's hero now too. I dread the day he is lost to our world alhough let's be real he will live forever ❤
I'm Australian and grew up following Sir David Attenborough and still do today. There aren't many people I would consider national treasures, Sir David is one, not only in the UK but here in Australia.
I love Sir David he has taught the World to respect the Natural World and his Bee video inspired the song Bumblebee by ABBA, and he is a true English gentleman. I dread the day of his passing and I will be in mourning because the World will be a lonelier place without him.
He is a national treasure here in the UK. Bow down to Sir David, hes still working, even if hes not travelling these days. Lovely guy, it will be a major loss when he finally passes...❤
If ever there was a position of surrogate grandfather of the nation, Sir David Attenborough's name would be top of the list. A true national treasure who is beloved by everyone familiar with him and his work. 4 generations of families around the world have witnessed his brilliance, I can imagine his fans are not in their millions but in their billions.
When he does pass on, I for one will mourn his passing. I have been a massive fan of his work since I was a child in the 70's/80's, and he was my inspiration to becoming a biologist, and was the inspiration of many fellow naturalists for many decades. I also had the privilege of being lectured at uni by him, when he gave a series of six lectures on evolution during the first year of my degree, as the uni helped him with the private life of plants. When he finished, we clapped our hands raw. 🥰🥰🥰🥰 He is a humble, but brilliant man, and one of the greatest science educators the UK has ever produced!
I always get scared when I see David Attenborough's name trending, If we don't have a national mourning period, when it inevitably happens the country should riot.
@@wolverine9787 I honestly believe he will be mourned more than Elizabeth II was. Not out of disrespect. But because that is how loved he is world wide
@@andrewmoss3681 It's something we don't like to admit but the Queen was disliked in Ireland and had anti-monarchs in the UK, but I honestly think there is none in the entire world that hates Sir David, so he will most likely be mourned more than the Queen.
We went whale watching from Victoria (BC) a few years ago and I was talking to the skipper. I mentioned if he'd heard of David Attenborough and he said he'd worked with him in Alaska and knew him well. He's a legend over here and extremely well respected.
Holey Moley! Air mail to the US has suddenly got much more expensive! 🙄I grew up as a child watching Sir David Attenborough and he's still going! Nothing more that I can add over the glowing adoration already posted. It always feels like he's a kindly uncle talking to you directly and educating you about the wonderful world of nature he loves so much. It has been a privilege to watch and listen to him over the years. He had brought so much pleasure to so many people - especially in the UK.
My little tidbit of David Attenborough triva is that he has been recognised with Honorary Degrees from 32 seperate British Universities, which is more than anyone else ever! Among these institutions was the Open University in 1980, which began a long lasting and close relationship with Sir David, who remains a staunch advocate of the OU. Incidentally, some of his documentaries, particularly Blue Planet 2, were made in collaboration with the OU.
It is not an overstatement to say that David Attenborough is the most beloved man in Britain. But on top of his wildlife documentaries, he was also hugely influential in the popularity of snooker in the UK. When he was much younger, he was in charge of a new BBC channel, BBC 2, that was showcasing a brand new invention: colour television. He wanted to demonstrate it's potential and picked snooker as an example sport that only worked in colour.
An absolute National Treasure. The UK Museum of Natural History has an entire wing in his name. When he passes away the mourning and sadness will rival the loss of the Queen.
I am not one of those who hates the Monarchy, but to my life and many other I think he has been more important. I met Prince Charles and Diana once for a brief trip at a school trip to Marwell Zoo(sp) but David will always be closer to my heart :)
@@zepo82 That's not what Sir David and Billions of others would say or agree with. When Sir David Attenborough speaks, important people listen. Action is being taken to tackle plastic pollution in our oceans largely thanks to him and his programmes drawing attention to the crisis.
David is a national treasure ❤ his siblings were Richard Attenborough, Actor, Director & Producer. John Attenborough, Executive in the motor industry & Financial Adviser. He met so many great people like Jane Goodall, Diane Fossey etc and inspired so many to try and save the world.
Richard Attenborough, his brother, was in Jurassic Park. Wikipedia: As an actor, Attenborough is best remembered for his film roles in Brighton Rock (1948), I'm All Right Jack (1959), The Great Escape (1963), The Sand Pebbles (1966), Doctor Dolittle (1967), 10 Rillington Place (1971), Jurassic Park (1993), and Miracle on 34th Street (1994). In 1952, he appeared on the West End stage, originating the role of Detective Sergeant Trotter in Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap which has since become the world's longest-running play.[1]

As well as The Great Escape and Miracle on 34th Street
And if you hadn’t guessed by now from the other comments here in the UK ( and no doubt farther away) we love absolutely love him 😍, we’ve grown up with him and yes he feels like a much beloved Grandad.
I’m absolutely Gobsmacked that it didn’t show his wonderful relationship with our Late Queen & yet they showed Obama. Attenborough & Queen Liz had some fantastic footage together😢
The sun dial in the shade in the Queens garden 😅
@@dlongstaff1960 That was so funny 🤣 😂
Wasn't he involved in the Queen' Green Canopy' planting trees all over the UK
They were almost identical age (Sir David is two weeks younger) as well.
They were also the same age
Sir David and our late Queen were the same age and there is a wonderful programme of the two of them walking around the gardens talking about the trees etc. She never gave interviews but it was a great conversation between two friends. The Gorilla clip has gone down in history now. Mothers of young can be aggressive so for her to be comfortable with his presence was amazing even to the point of grooming his hair as her young played with him. His Blue Planet series was the first to really show just how much rubbish was in our oceans.
David Attenborough is the greatest living human. How could you not know him? Staggering.
For reasons no sane person can comprehend the US version of 'Frozen Planet' Sir David was replaced by Alec Baldwin. And Oprah did 'Life'. Oprah!! When will the madness end?
Jesus wept
And the dubbed Sigourney Weaver over him on the planet earth series
Obviously, Sir David’s calm, moderated but yet informative narration isn’t “showbizzy” or “wham bam in yer face yeah..” dramatic enough for the ear holes of the average USA viewer? Perhaps the USA version should have a few sound effects - maybe the sounds of car chases with police sirens and some “yeahhh baby” shoutouts to emphasise Sir David’s interactions with the wildlife?? *despairs….*
What! That’s so weird. He has such a calming voice.
@@weedle30 It's the Yank version of history - The USA did everything that was worth doing. In their isolation they can say and teach whatever they like - and Yanks are like Rachel - they've got to be number 1 and centre stage. Sad.
The whole world needs to listen to David Attenborough.
Hi, Just incase you weren't aware sir David Attenborough had a also a famous brother who sadly passed away some time ago called Richard Attenborough.
Yes actor/director inc in Jurassic Park
Played John Hammond in Jurassic
We actually looked that up and were surprised to find out his brother was in the original Jurassic Park.
@@reactingtomyroots Richard had a long career, including playing creepy murderer John Christie.
Miracle on 34th Street - Santa
His voice hypnotises me. Simply the best
David Attenborough is not iconic, he is next level, a national treasure. ❤❤
He is known all over our planet not just the uk . He is our national treasure , love love love every thing this man does . Steve you really should go and watch his documentries , it will change how you think about animals
National geographic wishes it was close to an Attenborough documentary
maybe his stuff was on national geo? makes sense tbf well before BBC America and wotnot.
They showed Attenboroughs documentaries on Nat geo,
@zepo82 That does make sense tbf, licensed to them maybe?
I always forget that BBC America is even a thing now tbh.
@@zepo82it was always on PBS.
Hungover on a Sunday after a heavy night out, after your Sunday roast watching nature listening to him was a good weekend
Mr Attenborough is a living legend...The Voice the respect he is so so good..
He is the only person to win film awards in black white, colour, HD, 3D, and 4K formats.
I can remember
him in black and white - and baggy khaki shorts.
David attenborough was the first person to ever suggest tennis balls should be yellow so that they are easier to see on tv.
what a life.
Introduce Sophia to his work, especially through DVDs and books.....introducing anyone to the world of David Attenborough is one of the greatest gifts anyone can give.
Would need to be a US version dvd, assuming that Steve has a player.
Lots of books too
Attenborough and James Burke were amazing science broadcasters when I was a kid in the 70s. Got me hooked.
David is such a good man! He’s been on TV all my life and I’m 47!
You must watch some of his work with Sophia ❤
This ☝️💯
All mine too, and I am 65
Now knowing who he is I'm sure we will.
All mine as well and I am 70
Sir David Attenborough is a national treasure. 🇬🇧
I think Sir David might just be the 'Most Popular and Most Admired Man In The UK. He's 98 years old !
Make that the world, USA notwithstanding.
And still working ❤
Sir David is great but Sir Billy Connolly would be my choice as National Grandfather.
@@Thurgosh_OG great shout 👍😂
When he does pass on, I for one will mourn his passing. I have been a massive fan of his work since I was a child in the 70's/80's, and he was my inspiration to becoming a biologist, and was the inspiration of many fellow naturalists for many decades. I also had the privilege of being lectured at uni by him, when he gave a series of six lectures on evolution during the first year of my degree, as the uni helped him with the private life of plants. When he finished, we clapped our hands raw. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
He is a humble, but brilliant man, and one of the greatest science educators the UK has ever produced!
Oh my goodness - that must have been amazing! What a memory to have 💚
I always get scared when I see David Attenborough's name trending, If we don't have a national mourning period, when it inevitably happens the country should riot.
I know what you mean. But you forget. Even when Sir David leaves this mortal plain, Gods & Legends NEVER die
@@andrewmoss3681 Very true, he should get a plinth on Trafalgar Square.
@@wolverine9787 the very reason I make the prediction I did. Monarchs can be love/hate. With Sir David it is ONLY Love
He's amongst a list of legends like fred dibnah, the two ronnies & eric Morecambe to name afew. He is the voice we all know & luve
And he's still working to this day,I think the uk will go in morning when sir David dies he's a uk legend everyone knows his voice and work
*mourning*
...indeed, we ought to. He had just a few days / or no more than two weeks between his birthday and our dear late Queen Elizabeth II.
David Attenborough is synonymous with nature and conservation. 1 in a million - a truly wonderful human being ❤
An absolute National Treasure.
He absolutely adored our late queen and they spent a very considerable amount of time together . . . as great friends. Her late majesty numbered Sir David not only as a close friend, but a friend whose character, achievements and beliefs she held in the highest regard. Her whole family cared very much for him. He was a British institution., but then, so are the royal family and Sir David was an avid and respectful, loving monarchist. For the record I am an 83 year old Englishman who served Her Majesty in the RMC in the 1960's.

Oh my gosh I absolutely treasure Sir David
We adore David Attenborough in the UK, he's been a part of most peoples lives for a long time.
Nobody will ever top his documentaries, he's a fantastic human being ❤
I was 7 years old when David Attenborough first became prominent as host of Zoo Quest in 1954. That was the year after the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. That means I have lived with David Attenborough for 70 years. We all love him dearly.
You may not know you have seen a BBC show. They sell alot of their documentaries to different USA channels. Unless you watch the credits all the way to the end and see that the BBC created it.
Lonesome George was hatched in 1910. Ge was over 100 years old when he died.
I'm from latinoamerica, and even there, you know who David Attenbororough. To you guys in the USA... there's a would out there .😊
He is truly a national tressure 😊 blue planet is one of my favourite shows 💙
He may seem familiar to you because his brother Richard Attenborough is an actor from many films, including miracle on 34th street and jurassic park.
He’s Probably the most loved person in Britain!
David Attenborough is a national treasure. His wildlife documentaries are the best you will ever see. I don't think words can do this man justice. He is humanity at it's very best.
Sir David is everyone’s third Grandad he is the most treasured man ever and will ever be
Haha I have always said this he is like the whole of Britians grandad 👌🏻✌🏻
Absolutely, he's Papa for me!
Sir David just got an amazing standing ovation at Wimbledon this week, the man looks amazing, he was glowing and had a spring in his step, hope I make it to 98 like that!
David Attenborough is not allowed to die. He is a national treasure here in the UK
David and Jane Goodell were friends.. he was also born the same year as queen Elizabeth.
I believe there was something like a few days, to no more than two weeks, between their birthdays...❤
Yes, how do you not know him is beyond me. Its odd and sad at the same time that you guys and others have not been enriched by Sir David Attenborough. He has earned his title ten times over. Amazing man.
Born the same year as Queen Elizabeth. One of the only people (other than her) who will make many, many people (who he has never met) cry when we lose him. Amazing broadcaster.
I've had the honour of meeting Sir David 4 times, hes probably one of the nicest most genuine sincere people ive ever met. He is a level above legendary, to a lot of us brits he us a bigger institution than the Royal family.
He’s the only person to win a BAFTA for programmes in black and white, colour, HD and 3D. He’s a living legend, I know multiple people with tattoos of him too. I forgot 4K.
Irene & Helga Bejach were given an home by the Attenborough family, they escaped Berlin. Their Mother had died of TB, their elder sister wasn't able to escape and their Father died in Auschwitz. The sisters stayed with the family for seven years until they were able to join their Uncle in New York. Their elder sister Jutta was able to join them later. The Attenborough brothers looked upon the sisters as their sisters.
Never knew this. What a wonderful family
@@lesleymitcheson8439 The families are still in touch although Irene & Helga have passed away but their families, Jutta and David still see each other.
I think it's wonderful.

His documentaries are fantastic, great family viewing. A lot of kids love his shows as he shows the natural world and the quality of the work has increased over the decades too as tech has advanced. I still narrate stuff in my head using his voice! Wonderful human being.
I'm from Texas and I know of him.
OMG the man is a legend,he has been important since the 60's ,not only him, you would know his late ,possibly more famous, brother, Sir Richard Attenborough
Lord Richard Attenborough.
David is the UK's and possibly the world's greatest broadcaster.
He was the controller of BBC2 and used to produce the Queen's Christmas message.
He is totally unique.
I think he had elocution lessons in the early BBC days!
Can't believe you have never really heard of him, he's still working!
In finland too he is loved. All those videos been shown here. Few nature narrators but he is near top of the list
David Attenborough is a hero and a legend not seen in our world for a long time, his efforts kickstarted so much people’s love for the natural world, as a child I would beg my parents to watch all his shows as it was local telly for us, the world will lose its greatest warrior when he passes. He met so many great people like Jane Goodall, Diane Fossey etc and inspired so many to try and save the world.
Richard Attenborough, his brother, was in Jurassic Park.
Wikipedia:
As an actor, Attenborough is best remembered for his film roles in Brighton Rock (1948), I'm All Right Jack (1959), The Great Escape (1963), The Sand Pebbles (1966), Doctor Dolittle (1967), 10 Rillington Place (1971), Jurassic Park (1993), and Miracle on 34th Street (1994). In 1952, he appeared on the West End stage, originating the role of Detective Sergeant Trotter in Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap which has since become the world's longest-running play.[1]
We grew up watching Attenbourgh.
When he dies we will collectively mourn.
Probably more than we mourned Queen Liz.
In England/UK David Attenborough is one of the few people who is as widely known and loved as much as our late Queen, a true national treasure.
UK
He’s less of a divisive person than the Queen.
David Attenborough is truly a national hero and national treasure. I've been lucky enough to attend a couple of events that he has spoken at and his words never fail to move me to tears. He's tried so hard to save the natural world ❤️ he's a spectacular man. Everyone should know about him.
On another note you can buy his programmes - they're great for every age. My daughters are 5 and 2 and love his documentaries. I highly recommend them for Sophia.
David Attenborough is like a favorite uncle to literally the whole United Kingdom! He is like family to everybody and taught everybody that is around 30+ years old everything we know about nature and the world 🌎
Over here in the UK he is often referred to as the UK's grandfather because everyone loves him and he is an absolute national treasure! I can't imagine anything better than to just sit and listen to all his amazing stories of his life experiences around the world.
It is not only the change of age in Attenborough's voice but a change of style. He is speaking in the way I remember the upper crust people speaking in my youth. (I'm 89] We called it a BBC voice or a plum in the mouth.
I'd certainly recommend buying any of David Attenborough's TV series for your children on DVD - my kids watched them endlessly, amazing educational for adults as well.
David Attenborough's DVDs would be a better place to start.
His a National Treasure. 👍👍
We love him, his brother is Richard Attenborough a Titan of British cinema as both Actor & Director. Two National Treasures in one family, we are so blessed...
