There are two ways to play Durge:
1. Redemption arc good guy who calls Bhaal an idiot
2. Supreme jerk. Not evil, just a jerk
Correct, being "evil" with them is bland and boring, like being an npc, it's not correct to play as.
Being a Jerk requires flavour, requires RP, it's a neat kind of story around, same as a redeemed one.

Not my second redemption Durge (Morthon, a Berserker Barbarian) knocking Alfira out to avoid this, and still feeling guilty as all heck about Quill. But on the plus side; they actually decided to start a support group for villains and other jerks wanting to reform! They named it '*ssholes Anonymous', and my first redemption Durge (Arathorn, an Oathbreaker -Light Cleric multiclass) is basically the therapist there. They both got away with it in the moment, but both still feel guilty regardless; they meet every week and cry about the Bard for a few hours.
This would’ve been how it happened if he never lost his memory.
