We've been twice. Once in 2005 and again in 2007. In 2005 several of the remaining Munchkins were there signing autographs. I have a video on my channel of Karl Slover singing "Follow The Yellow Brick Road!" We really had fun. The 2nd time we went, none of the Munchkins were able to make it which was a real let down for us, but they have gotten so old and feeble that none of them are traveling anymore. There are only 2 remaining Munchkins alive now. Jerry Maren is one of them. We got to meet him at a mall near our home.
My uncle had a vacation home on Beach Mountain,When we would have family reunions at his home I would always take binoculars up to the third story balcony and gaze at the Land of Oz. I was fortunate enough to be able to walk that Yellow Brick Road Many Times. The Land Of Oz is part of my cherished childhood memories!!
I went there almost every year they were open and love the old footage (what I can see through the tears)..What A waste of A great theme park!! If you have anymore footage, I would love to see it.. Thanks for posting
Just got back from volunteering at this year's Autumn at Oz. My family went to the park for the first time back in 2008, and we've been going every year since then. Even though much of the original park is missing now, the park is a magical place and definitely worth a visit next year!
They were looted and burnt (questionably arson?) There were actually two fires over the years. There are talks of re-establishing the amphitheater from the Emerald City, but I've not heard any definite plans.
My dad went once for his birthday and it rained. So his parents ate their picnic lunch in the car and drove home. I would love to take him there one day. Does anyone know if the still do autumn in oz?
