I grew up in the 70s and 80s. Eddie Van Halen is my favorite guitarist of all time. Vito Bratta, despite his abridged career, is my second favorite guitarist. Vito is a mutha and one hell of a human being.
I heard a rumor that Kiss tried to get him to join the band, but told him he had to change his name and wear makeup, obviously he passed. They brought in Vinnie Vincent who was a good player and excellent song writer, but most people can't stand to be around him very long.
He and Mike got jaded and disillusioned by the way the industry was heading and as they toured and put their last album out, saw their demand diminish like the hair metal/ hard rock scene in general. He didnt want to keep playing something that wouldnt be valued in the way it deserved. Neither did he want to play anything that wasn’t him. Than there were always the VH comparisons. So it’s easy to see how someone would just say - it’s not worth the hassle, I did my thing. He did keep practicing until his wrist injury and restarted recently. But taking care of his parents is the most solid excuse.
I wish i could hear these songs again, for the first time. We were blessed to grow up with this era of music. Glad to see new generations discovering it
Vito got the respect from other guitarists. Eddie Van Halen, largely regarded as the best rock guitarist of that era, told Vito that he thought they both played in a very similar style and he loved what Vito did. I think Vito regarded that as the best compliment you could get from a legend.
True guitarists know and respect Vito. Without a doubt, one of the best from the "hair band" era. This whole band had chops, and goes way beyond that genre. They wrre phenomenal live. I had the chance to meet and hang out with Mike Tramp. He was a genuinly nice guy who was super appreciative of the fans and very down to earth.
I was 17 and camping out in line for Motley Crue tix when our station premiered this song ... RIGHT as I kissed this girl for the 1st time. It became our song. We didn't make it maybe 4 years past HS as a couple but our Son turned 35 this year. Great band
I can speak from a guitar player who was in 8th/9th grade at the time this came out. Vito was HIGHLY regarded - his style was very unique and very technical. He unfortunately suffered the fate of the band overall - which is really sad. I was always surprised/disappointed he never came out with another band or a solo project.
Grew up in the 80s. I saw White Lion in Taylorville Illinois in 86. They opened up for Ace Frehley, and Vito was badass. His playing is amazing. It's a shame that the band broke up and will probably never play together again.
Vito was on all the guitar magazines in the late 80’s early 90’s but those bands got lost in time, but I still listen to them and will see Mike Tramp’s White Lion tomorrow with my teenage sons, they like White Lion too.
In these kinds of videos, It's said, during the 80's that you listen with your eyes instead of your ears. But listen to Vito Bratta's guitar playing, it doesn't need a visual, just close your eyes. So, so good and tasteful!
Just about everyone that played rock guitar in the 80's - early 90's knew Vito was an incredible player, really cool riffs/rhythm playing (used a variety of chords/voicings rather than the usual power chords) and a beast of a lead player (melodic, technical, excellent compositions).
Great band. The singer Mike Tramp is still going strong releasing new music and touring. Mike Tramp just released an album called "Songs Of White Lion" (2023) where he takes his take on some White Lion songs and changed them to fit his voice today. Great album and well worth to check out. 🔥🔥🔥
I saw White Lion at their last concert in NYC at the Ritz. A friend let me borrow a jacket with the bands' album cover painted on it. I held that jacket up for almost the whole show. Mike Tramp saw it and as I was on my boyfriends shoulders he looked at me and said "wow that's fu#$king awesome". And, lead guitar Vito Bratta sounds even better live 🤟
Man all white lion songs are great even the bad ones haha. When the children cry is fantastic, broken heart is really good, lady of the valley, little figther, tell me, HUNGRY, lol. I love em all :) !!! **Huge fan!!**
Vito = Underrated player. This song's guitar playing is on par with, but may be better than EVH's 5150. Unfortunately radio stations underplayed this while overplaying songs like GnR, Scorpions, etc.
There’s a hilarious rumor that Vito was paid a lot of money to get out of the music industry by Eddie Van Halen. Don’t think that’s actually true, but it’s a great rumor:)
James Lomenzo, the bassist is in Megadeth now...he is a great player. Vito had the most distinctive tone and style of all of the players of the time imo...maybe with the exception of George Lynch....I think Bratta was very very underrated. he was an amazing guitarist.
Need to check out the Golden Earing cover. Of radar love. Better than the original by far….Vito’s guitar work is on full display. It’s pretty incredible!!!!
Vito is often called an Eddie Van Halen clone because he did the tapping on the fretboard that Eddie brought into the spotlight. But pretty much every player in the 80s was doing it after EVH did it. The reason they single out Vito is because he did it best. As a die hard VH fan, once I heard Vito in '88, he replaced EVH as my favorite guitarist. Zakk Wylde stated in an interview that Vito is the only player worth listening to when it comes to tapping. Not his exact words, but it was along those lines.
They were a very underrated band but these guys are very good Mike tramp is a great singer, and Vito brata is an amazing guitar player his tone is so clean and his technique is second to none he was very underrated I think as the years go by more and more people are realizing how great he is ,definitely one of my favorites behind George lynch of course
Hair Band ballads were gold in the 80's. These bands and the record companies found a formula that not only appealed to guys with a harder rocking edge, but gave girls something more than that...the ballad. Yea, many guys will decry the ballads back then as filler but we all loved it as much as the girls did. What was certain is that this was pure money! White Lion was/is a talented band, especially Vito (genius) but the band came on towards the end of the hair band trend and got lost in the many over produced hair bands that record companies pushed on the market, many not very good. Then came grunge and the genre was done! Some bands, like Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and other sustained simply because of their popularity and some adapting to the sounds of the day. Unfortunately, White Lion, at least in this country, died a quick death.
This is somewhat fair, but everybody back then was a Van Halen copy from Mötley Crüe to poison. What distinguished Vito was his songwriting and melodic playing as evidenced by the solo in this song.
Stories... there is a chance of cruising in an old camero on a dirt road ...parking for awhile...then continuing the cruise on the back roads. Please god don't let me grown ass adult kids read this lol
Reminds me of my fist love, now that him & his bro & bff are dead, I can barely listen, cuz we loved White Lion, and every heavy metal/ Hair band, icluding Metallica, Dokken, Ozzie & Alice Coooer...he (my bf) played bass and his best friend was singer & guitarist ...we were teenagers. Watch the original Sid & Nancy film too with Gary Oldman,1986.We saw that together an pd hurts to watch now, that was basically my life in the 80s, without my death
Hair bands, baby. When men could rock better hair than women, lol. Love this song and have been rockin' out to it since I was 13 in '87. Still sounds good 37 years later! 🤘🏼
I absolutely loved this band back in the day. Unfortunately they were a little late to the game - they hit their peak a few years before hair metal was no longer cool. Vito Bratta was an excellent guitar player. He was considered a bit of an Eddie Van Halen clone at the time, but I think he had his own style and sound.
Vito got out of music after white lyon split up I guess he had an injury that effects his playing, they remade radar love in my opinion its way better than the original, tell me,little fighter, and when the children cry probably their biggest hot song, but back to Vito I guess he is getting back into playing music again I just don't know in what capacity
A lot of people …don’t know the girl in the video Christie Muhaw , died in a car accident less than a year after the video propelled the song to a top ten hit …her death at only 24 made the song lyric’s especially poignant
I did not know that, and I am saddened to learn of this. This song came out around the time I had dated who would be my 'first love', so this song has great meaning for me. Now I think that this young lady could be anyone we love but did not tell enough. Then too late. May this beautiful young lady rest in peace.
Vito was set for greatness but his parents got sick and he stopped to help his family. You have to respect him for that
Absolutely as legendary as a guitar master he was, Family and Love always come first
I grew up in the 70s and 80s. Eddie Van Halen is my favorite guitarist of all time. Vito Bratta, despite his abridged career, is my second favorite guitarist. Vito is a mutha and one hell of a human being.

Vito isn't a mainstream recognized guitarist, but for those who play guitar and his contemporaries, he's known as one of the best.
I wish i could hear these songs again, for the first time. We were blessed to grow up with this era of music.
Glad to see new generations discovering it

The good old days of camping out for tickets🤘

Vito Bratta: A once in a generation guitarist. No one created more melodic sounding solos than he did.
Severely underrated guitarist.
The one that is really underrated is the drummer Greg D'Angelo. He is so in the pocket and powerful. He was and still is a beast live.
Vito's guitar sounds like a violin in that solo. That's why he was so great.
Definitely one of the better songs of 1987-88....
Still my all time favorite rock ballad 33 years later....loved growing up in the 80s!!! 👍😎💪
Greatest guitar solo ever, imo.

I was a kid in the early1980s and the music was totally Rad And awesome and bands like white lion are a sound track of My youth growing up ❤
Vito was on all the guitar magazines in the late 80’s early 90’s but those bands got lost in time, but I still listen to them and will see Mike Tramp’s White Lion tomorrow with my teenage sons, they like White Lion too.

Saw them in 1988. Got Vito Bratta's autograph. Still have it!
Vito Bratta was set to be the next Eddie Van Halen. Then along came grunge and they kinda disappeared. You might like Little Fighter

Vito to me was the greatest melodic guitarist prodigy of that era, gawd just listen to the intro, the rhythm notes, and that SOLO...........GENIUS!!!
100% the 80,s is what I think about every time I hear this song! "Best time of my life"
Great band. The singer Mike Tramp is still going strong releasing new music and touring. Mike Tramp just released an album called "Songs Of White Lion" (2023) where he takes his take on some White Lion songs and changed them to fit his voice today. Great album and well worth to check out. 🔥🔥🔥

Saw these guys in 1987 when they opened for Kiss on the Crazy nights tour. Vito and his talent blew me away.
Vito = Underrated player. This song's guitar playing is on par with, but may be better than EVH's 5150. Unfortunately radio stations underplayed this while overplaying songs like GnR, Scorpions, etc.
Vito was highly regarded by guitarists during that time.
Vito is the only Guitarist I can identify just by listening to a solo. He is THAT GOOD
I love Mike's voice.
That solo was allegedly done in a single take. Vito's a legend.
It was a practice take that the engineer left the recording on for and Vito didn't know they recorded it........didn't need any other takes after that
Late eighties outdoors !!
Tesla , Whitelion. Cinderella, Poison.
In that order! Many highlights but Vittos guitar riffs stood out!
We just reacted to Poison! Check it out!!
My fave song from them. My older sister has pics of him and her along with many other 80s rockers. Dudes Small!
"Broken Heart" is pretty good also.
I agree.
I personally like that thrust 😂
One od the first rock songs that caught my attention. SO AMAZING
There’s a hilarious rumor that Vito was paid a lot of money to get out of the music industry by Eddie Van Halen. Don’t think that’s actually true, but it’s a great rumor:)
The live version of “Lady of the Valley” is awesome! Some serious guitar work by Vito in that song 👍👍
ruclips.net/video/OuVPxMZ7nbA/видео.html
"Lady Of The Valley" is for sure one of White Lion's best songs, I love it. 🤘🤘🤘
I was teenager when this hit MTV was showing this video, I was obsessed♥
Those who knew, knew! 🙂 Many of his peers regard the solo on Wait as the best solo ever.
Vito was highly respected. One of the best of the metal guitarists.
Also funny you just got to this song. This was their first single that introduced them to the world .
James Lomenzo, the bassist is in Megadeth now...he is a great player. Vito had the most distinctive tone and style of all of the players of the time imo...maybe with the exception of George Lynch....I think Bratta was very very underrated. he was an amazing guitarist.
Vito was the 80's cleanest and most melodic guitarist
One of my fav songs ever, great reaction. Reminds me of an ex gf who got away, she moved .
A very underrated guitar player

Vito won guitarist of the year in some of the metal magazine reader polls over the years
Vito is greatly underrated.
Vito Bratta was well respected back then, he got out of music business to take care of his parents at the time and never came back.
You gotta do little fighter by white lion, some say their best song
Vito was definitely underrated during the 80s but the time since has elevated him to his rightful place as one of the best guitarists.

the girl in the video died not long after in a car accident
Vito was sick and well respected by musicians. However, he did not, in fact get wider recognition due to his sound being so similar to Eddie's

The girl in the video saddly died in a car accident not long after shooting this.
