Thank you for an excellent video. You explain things so well. This is the first time I actually understand stitching full coverage on the diagonal parking the threads. It is also the first time I have seen the pin stitch sideways because of the weave of the fabric. I would enjoy more stitch with you videos with you talking about cross stitch. I'm not a haed type of stitcher just because i feel like i wanna enjoy my time with the smller or less detailed ones from aliexpress, and plus haeds seem sooo complicated, and I'm only 15 so there's lots of time to learn. Anyways, watching this was so cool. I could never imagine how to even start one like this and now it's making me very interested..
OMG you are a godsend!!! I wanted to cross stitch so bad but have never done it. I'm the person who either goes big or goes home. I don't like mini cross stitch designs, I love the intensely detailed and big projects! The other videos of people showing parking always show midway with a million threads that gets sooo confusing for new set of eyes! You showed the START! which made me feel like I was stitching with you! I want to start a HAED project so bad but the material packs are so expensive.....DMC threads are so expensive too! I have no materials at all. So, I'm going to start a 22"x17" project kit. Things to buy: 1. Sharp pointy Scissors (I loved yours). 2. Extra needles 3. frame (I still need help for this, I don't like hoops, I like square but the wooden stands are so expensive. only cheap ones are the plastic ones which people complain don't hold the fabric tight) thread, fabric and chart will come with the kit for now. once I have saved up money I will buy a HAED material pack. What tips do you have on finding good quality cheap tread? my best bet right now is AliExpress or Amazon. they have 150skeins for around $20. Can you please please please do a timelapse video of a full project?? Oh and one last question. I am a beginner who hasn't started yet. I have done plenty of research and found 3 sections of needle and thread work. I want to master in the one that produces the best images and designs. Embroidery - uses a lot of different stitch methods (too much for me at this moment) Cross Stitch - done on fabric with mostly X stitches (I like this one so far) Needlepoint - done on a hard mesh canvas with X and //// stitches. (debating on this one....) P.S I love jigsaw puzzles and so I am thinking of starting a 5D diamond painting if I fail at cross stitching First 1 hour cross stitch video that I watched until the end without confusion or wastage of time!! Thank you for the privilege of your time!! I am not retired but I'm a stay at home mom. Although my day is extremely busy, I feel like I do nothing for my own enjoyment. With cross stitching at least I will have a few minutes to mentally relax each day.

I wish I had viewed this before purchasing fabric for a full coverage piece. I purchased 18 ct aida, and will use two strands of floss to get good coverage. Hello, I am so glad you have another video. I have missed you. I also enjoy your voice. If you just had music I wouldn't watch. To be honest when I am stitching during the video, I watch with my ears. Would you like to share memories? You seem about the age of my own mother, and it gives her so much joy to tell stories of her life. When she speaks of her youth, I join her in my mind with empathetic experiences from my youth. And when that happens we become friends and sisters instead of mother and daughter. I would enjoy getting to know you more.

Those stockings are gorgeous!! I have so many Dimensions Gold stocking kits I’ve been meaning to stitch for family members for years. Maybe 2021 will be the year I finally work on those. (If I do HAED stockings I’m afraid they’ll never get finished - LOL!) Thanks for another great video!!
thank you for teaching me about diagonal stitching I think i finally understand. I am a single stitch at a time feathering person. i have chosen the single stitch and the feathering because i have a big problem with tension. it works for me. I might try diagonal on my next project. :) i have a bunch of others to do first though. perhaps you can do another stitch with me that includes you teaching. i liked this one
Thank you for the video. I learned a lot and as a recently retired nurse after 40 years, I understand the need for back stretches. Sorry to hear that you won't be continuing the Hardangar series, I have watched them. The thing I learned with this video is doing the pin stitch from the front, I have always flipped my frame to do it from the back, this is so much easier. What I would like to know is how do you finish your threads? I try to use pin stitch but it is not easy. Have any words of wisdom. I also prefer you talk rather than music. I tend to stitch while 'watching' and look up when something is said.
Hi Mary.. thanks for your kinds words.. I end my threads with a pin stitch.. I place that pin stitch in an empty space close to the last stitch that I made.. I don't try to go under that last x it is too hard to do that. it can be done but is rather tedious. I prefer to do as much as Ican from the front of my work.. really dont like flipping t the back

I tend to not view entire stitch-with-me videos if there is not talking - guess I feel that I could be listening to someone else's video or an audio book while I stitch. I enjoy the conversation, even if it is 1 way! There is usually something I learn - whether stitching or about other topics. I'm sorry you won't be able to continue with the Hardangar videos (I still need to start watching them - that is in my daily plan but doesn't happen.) I park with diagonal stitching but have a different direction of the diagonal on each project! Depends on when I started doing diagonal on that piece. I really enjoy it and am convinced my stitches are neater. (BTW, I am subscribed under another name.)

So happy to see you use 20 ct as I was going to restart my haed 1 thread and wasn’t sure how low a count to go, 18 or 20... and I now know how to start m first row! Best video I have seen on that! Oh my would love to know thr russian ideas. COs your stitches are so tidy. I have been stitching 37 yrs but self taught snd only found floss tube 3 yrs ago. And haed 2.
That was very informative! I'm on my first HAED and have struggled with the back being so messy. I have already finished one page but I'm considering this a learning experience so I'm just moving forward. Thanks so much. The pin stitch isn't bad at all and although I'm working from left to right in squares and parking to the right, it seems to be working just fine. Question - did you show what project you are actually stitching? I'm going to scroll back to the front and see if you did. I am interested in seeing what the completed picture will look like.
Your videos are great, this diagonal stitching really makes sense. I’ve got a question, hopefully I can explain it well enough. If I start stitching on the left of a horizontal row and end with a stitch on the right end of that row but then want to park my thread back to the left on the next row down, does it elongate the top leg of the stitch? Should I complete the top leg of that last stitch differently ? I’m hoping to get into your fb group so I can go back and read past posts to glean more information. Hi. Love your video. I'm just starting Heads and I was taught to do it exactly like you did on this video row by row on the diagonal. However question is when you finish your first triangle in this video...where do you go next? Also then the next parallagram which is your next diagonal section..where do you start at bottom or top. Shouldn't you always start back at top? I saw some of your later videos and it looks like your working from.bottom to top now. I just want to knkw when you finish first triangle where do you go next? Hi Allison. When I finish that first triangle i move over to the next 10 stitch wide diagonal start at the top and work down. I prefer to start back at the top with each Diagonal. That being said there are those who work their diagonals top tp bottom and the next one bottom to top and so forth. It is a matter of what you prefer to do. There is no right or wrong way. It is what you prefer to do. Experiment and see what you like best. Hope this helps.. happy stitching
I loved your video, very easy to follow and understand for a person that is a stitcher, I am stitching my very first piece and I'm loving it. I have a question, when you do this diagonal parking method and you finish all the stitches in the first diagonal, do you end the threads? And begin next diagonal again from above? I hope I make myself clear. I was hoping to see that in this video but it ended when you were a couple of stitches from the end. Thanks in advance 😘
Nadia Barrojo , when I finish a diagonal I end all threads and begin again at the top of the next diagonal. Also when working a diagonal I do not park into the next diagonal. Don’t like to deal with those extra hanging threads. Hope this helps you and so glad you found this video helpful......Karen

Hi Welcome to the world of Cross Stitching. HAED is an abbreviation for Heaven and Earth Designs. Which is a company that produces full coverage cross stitch designs. Beware they have many beautiful charts it is hard to pick just one. Also know they are long term commitment - meaning they can take years to complete Hope this answers your question

Hello Karen, im watching your older videos to catch up since im a new watcher. I have a couple of questions....when your starting your threads with a pin stitch why do you wait to clip the tail until you have the needle already in 1st hole?? Why not cut the thread 1st?? 2nd question is do you prefer stitching 1 row at a time and parking in next closest row more than say stitching all that color of thread in the 10x10 square or diagonal?? Is it easier to not get confused doing 1 row at a time or is so you don't have to be coming up in dirty holes so your stitches look neater?? Really enjoy your teachings and stitch alongs and one day I might catch up with all of them,lol. Hope your week is going good and Happy Stitching 😊
HI Jodie, I cut my thread after placing my needle in the first hole only because it is stuck in the fabric and ready to go after i clip the tail. I guess you could clip it before but then what would you do with your needle? I find I prefer doing all the stitches of the same color on a row because it is less threading of the needle. If i try to do alll the same color in a 10x10 square i tend to get confused. Honestly, if you are watching all my videos you will find that i have changed the way i stitched several times along the journey. Mostly it just depends on the mood i am in and how i feel like stitching on any given day. It is best to experiment and fins what works best for you. There is no right or wrong way there is only your way. Happy stitching🥰

Yes, I would enjoy a video on making better stitches (in English). I have found that when I come up in a hole with a parked thread, I cant figure out which why to hold the parked thread so the thread coming up can my a nice stitch. and more importantly, the parked thread's first leg looks funky in the bottom corner. I am having a hard time figuring this out. ALSO, what needles do you use? I have 26 with two threads and I have been trying your wonderful threading method, however it tends to separate on of the strands, (separate what should stay together in a strand.) Thanks for your videos. VERY VERY helpful!!!!

I am starting to do full coverage. I noticed that parking really gets out of hand, and it takes a lot of my time trying to figure it out. My question to you is do you put all the pages together and stitch diagonal or do you just take page by page. One more question is do you do the pin stitch when you finish a color, and you can not use it anywhere esle? Love your videos. Also I have been stitching off and on for over 20 yrs, but I am learning much more.
Debra Darensbourg I personally use Pattern Keeper and that puts your pages into one big chart. And i can mark my diagonal lines. If you are using paper you can do it either way. Tape your pages together or just go page by page. It really is personal preference. I am not sure exactly what you mean on your second question. You can both start and end threads with a pin stitch. Sorry had to read that again and I understand what you are saying. So yes you can end with a pinstitch. If you are stitching 1 over 1 you may also want to check out the loop start with one thread and ending with a loop method.
Karen Lind Gandrup I am not exactly sure what you mean but will try to give you an answer. On the front of the work I just move the threads out of the way when I need to. As far as catching threads on the back of the work - you want to stitch over them especially if you had to carry the thread a few rows down. That way you are avoiding having loose carried threads on the back. I hope that answers your question. If not just let me know
Karen, I need to know, I have some 18ct aida or 11 count aida, and what needle should I use? I'm starting my new heaven and earth. And should I use one strand of 2 strands of thread for a better coverage
Leah. To determine your fabric count. Measure 1 inch. Then count the number of squares within that inch. That equals the count of your fabric. For example if you have the pregridded fabric 18 count would be 1 block plus 8 stitches in the next block to equal 1 inch.
LEAH Mcginley it is 25 count easy count by Zweigart. I do not like the stuff with the red lines as they are just stamped on and the fabric is stiffer. On the zweigart fabric the grey lines are woven in. Hth
Stitching with music please. It is nice seeing the full screen of your stitching. People who do videos showing their face on screen take up too much of the stitching viewing area on screen in my opinion. Thanks Karen

Karen, I cant get the lines to come out of the DMC Magic Guide. Have you had any problems? I’ve used cold water, Sok Wool Wash and Dawn dish soap and the Lin as fnt but they are still there. Any ideas anyone? I prefer talking.

The tutorial from the Russian person in English would be VERY interesting. 😭 About the Hardanger, do understand. Older peole have to make radical decisions to make life simpler. I park with diagonal stitching but have a different direction of the diagonal on each project! Depends on when I started doing diagonal on that piece. I really enjoy it and am convinced my stitches are neater.

Talk! I love to do stitch with me where ‘we’ chat... how did you know to do that one on the side? So happy to see you use 20 ct as I was going to restart my haed 1 thread and wasn’t sure how low a count to go, 18 or 20... and I now know how to start m first row! Best video I have seen on that! Oh my would love to know thr russian ideas. COs your stitches are so tidy. I have been stitching 37 yrs but self taught snd only found floss tube 3 yrs ago. And haed 2.

That was very informative! I'm on my first HAED and have struggled with the back being so messy. I have already finished one page but I'm considering this a learning experience so I'm just moving forward. Thanks so much. The pin stitch isn't bad at all and although I'm working from left to right in squares and parking to the right, it seems to be working just fine.
Question - did you show what project you are actually stitching? I'm going to scroll back to the front and see if you did. I am interested in seeing what the completed picture will look like.

Your videos are great, this diagonal stitching really makes sense. I’ve got a question, hopefully I can explain it well enough. If I start stitching on the left of a horizontal row and end with a stitch on the right end of that row but then want to park my thread back to the left on the next row down, does it elongate the top leg of the stitch? Should I complete the top leg of that last stitch differently ? I’m hoping to get into your fb group so I can go back and read past posts to glean more information. Hi. Love your video. I'm just starting Heads and I was taught to do it exactly like you did on this video row by row on the diagonal. However question is when you finish your first triangle in this video...where do you go next? Also then the next parallagram which is your next diagonal section..where do you start at bottom or top. Shouldn't you always start back at top? I saw some of your later videos and it looks like your working from.bottom to top now. I just want to knkw when you finish first triangle where do you go next? Hi Allison. When I finish that first triangle i move over to the next 10 stitch wide diagonal start at the top and work down. I prefer to start back at the top with each Diagonal. That being said there are those who work their diagonals top tp bottom and the next one bottom to top and so forth. It is a matter of what you prefer to do. There is no right or wrong way. It is what you prefer to do. Experiment and see what you like best. Hope this helps.. happy stitching
I loved your video, very easy to follow and understand for a person that is a stitcher, I am stitching my very first piece and I'm loving it. I have a question, when you do this diagonal parking method and you finish all the stitches in the first diagonal, do you end the threads? And begin next diagonal again from above? I hope I make myself clear. I was hoping to see that in this video but it ended when you were a couple of stitches from the end. Thanks in advance 😘
Nadia Barrojo , when I finish a diagonal I end all threads and begin again at the top of the next diagonal. Also when working a diagonal I do not park into the next diagonal. Don’t like to deal with those extra hanging threads. Hope this helps you and so glad you found this video helpful......Karen

Hi Welcome to the world of Cross Stitching. HAED is an abbreviation for Heaven and Earth Designs. Which is a company that produces full coverage cross stitch designs. Beware they have many beautiful charts it is hard to pick just one. Also know they are long term commitment - meaning they can take years to complete Hope this answers your question

Hello Karen, im watching your older videos to catch up since im a new watcher. I have a couple of questions....when your starting your threads with a pin stitch why do you wait to clip the tail until you have the needle already in 1st hole?? Why not cut the thread 1st?? 2nd question is do you prefer stitching 1 row at a time and parking in next closest row more than say stitching all that color of thread in the 10x10 square or diagonal?? Is it easier to not get confused doing 1 row at a time or is so you don't have to be coming up in dirty holes so your stitches look neater?? Really enjoy your teachings and stitch alongs and one day I might catch up with all of them,lol. Hope your week is going good and Happy Stitching 😊
HI Jodie, I cut my thread after placing my needle in the first hole only because it is stuck in the fabric and ready to go after i clip the tail. I guess you could clip it before but then what would you do with your needle? I find I prefer doing all the stitches of the same color on a row because it is less threading of the needle. If i try to do alll the same color in a 10x10 square i tend to get confused. Honestly, if you are watching all my videos you will find that i have changed the way i stitched several times along the journey. Mostly it just depends on the mood i am in and how i feel like stitching on any given day. It is best to experiment and fins what works best for you. There is no right or wrong way there is only your way. Happy stitching🥰

Yes, I would enjoy a video on making better stitches (in English). I have found that when I come up in a hole with a parked thread, I cant figure out which why to hold the parked thread so the thread coming up can my a nice stitch. and more importantly, the parked thread's first leg looks funky in the bottom corner. I am having a hard time figuring this out.
ALSO, what needles do you use? I have 26 with two threads and I have been trying your wonderful threading method, however it tends to separate on of the strands, (separate what should stay together in a strand.)

I am starting to do full coverage. I noticed that parking really gets out of hand, and it takes a lot of my time trying to figure it out. My question to you is do you put all the pages together and stitch diagonal or do you just take page by page. One more question is do you do the pin stitch when you finish a color, and you can not use it anywhere esle? Love your videos. Also I have been stitching off and on for over 20 yrs, but I am learning much more.
Debra Darensbourg I personally use Pattern Keeper and that puts your pages into one big chart. And i can mark my diagonal lines. If you are using paper you can do it either way. Tape your pages together or just go page by page. It really is personal preference. I am not sure exactly what you mean on your second question. You can both start and end threads with a pin stitch. Sorry had to read that again and I understand what you are saying. So yes you can end with a pinstitch. If you are stitching 1 over 1 you may also want to check out the loop start with one thread and ending with a loop method.
If I want to end my stitch can I still use a pin stitch if I am using 2 threads?

How do you make sure you dont catch a parked thread when the parked thread is several rows below the working row?
Karen Lind Gandrup I am not exactly sure what you mean but will try to give you an answer. On the front of the work I just move the threads out of the way when I need to. As far as catching threads on the back of the work - you want to stitch over them especially if you had to carry the thread a few rows down. That way you are avoiding having loose carried threads on the back. I hope that answers your question. If not just let me know

Leah. I would use a 26 needle on 18 ct and a 24 needle on 11ct. 18 ct. 2 strands of floss. 11ct 4 strands of floss. hope that helps

Leah. To determine your fabric count. Measure 1 inch. Then count the number of squares within that inch. That equals the count of your fabric. For example if you have the pregridded fabric 18 count would be 1 block plus 8 stitches in the next block to equal 1 inch.

LEAH Mcginley it is 25 count easy count by Zweigart. I do not like the stuff with the red lines as they are just stamped on and the fabric is stiffer. On the zweigart fabric the grey lines are woven in. Hth

Karen, I cant get the lines to come out of the DMC Magic Guide. Have you had any problems? I’ve used cold water, Sok Wool Wash and Dawn dish soap and the Lin as fnt but they are still there. Any ideas anyone?
