- This episode shows how to remove the stock airbox ready for the battery tray install. It can be done easily on the centre stand. Whilst the bike is in this 'state on undress' i''ll use the opportunity to fit the rear brake caliper relocation bracket and a few little dress up items.
Hi, you can remove the airbox keeping the chain, both exhausts, and the wheel.
Just use a lift to -yes- lift the bike so the rear wheel hangs after detach the shocks, and the gap behind the box will big enough to take out the airbox. If not, simply lift the bike a little bit more until you can remove it.
Tombstone Blues Thanks

Whomever did mine, before it was mine, they actually removed the sides and front, but left the wall between the tire and the battery box. They look like they are a heavy molded unit, but it comes apart. It's good leaving the rear part, because it does protect the air filters and battery box from a lot of debris from the wheel. At least the way it looks to me.
Thanks. I have found some different ones that aren't k&Ms. And I ordered some but haven't tried them. I didn't realize how many different types and sizes there are.
I referred another channel to your t100 build. Delboys Garage? He wanted some pics of a airbox removal and rework. So I gave him the name of your channel. Thanks so much for the Bonneville t100 vids. Though I am not doing as much as you are. It's nice to get ideas. 🖖
Glad I could help!
Do u need the AI delete kit when u do this mod I just got a 2011 T100 that has plenty of upgrades and mods it already has AI delete and the plug to keep chk engine light off So I think removing airbox should be my next move ?
What size were the New K&N filters? Thanks
Very entertaining, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome Video! I love how you slowly walk through every step! After removing the airbox and adding K&N filters can you just chuck the airbox? no need for them correct?
Yep, although it might be worth keeping it safe, just in case you need/wnt to revert back, unlikely but you never know!
Hi, what k&Ms did you use, the ones I've bought will not fit the inlet on the carbs. The ones that were on the bike when I bought it are huge and it looks like whomever did what you did, removing the airbox, actually cut the rubber connectors off the air box and glued them on the filters. I would like to get some shorter ones, but I don't see them when I look for them online. Thanks.
They came on the bike already, so I don't have any info on them sorry. I'll check them and see if there is a model or part number
What benefits are there in taking off the airbox....my bike is the 2020 T100.
For the older aircooled models it saved quite a bit of weight and helped the bike to breath better.
Found out British Customs makes a Airbox kit with all the parts needed for Carburetor models that's much cheaper then buying all this separate which you will have to do with Motone!Like usual found out the hard way!!!
Did you have to do any re-mapping after removing the airbox as this will change the airflow? Also same question for later on when you fitted the new exhaust cans.
I didn't remap it. The change to the airflow is within the tolerance of the ECU. I just left the bike idling for 15 minutes or so.
Morning, do you have any problems with the snatchy throttle operation on your T100, I am thinking about the TEC fuel boost plug, any feelings on this product. My 865 has already had the air injection delete and also the O2 delete done before I got it. Thanks Alex.
Thanks for the video. subscribed! I'm not interested in removing the airbox completely but only the baffle inside of it. Any tip for removing the baffle without removing the airbox?
André Filipe I've removed the baffle plate and it's not to bad a job. No need to remove the rear wheel or shocks, you only need to move the air box back enough to get to two or three difficult the screws on the right side. Have a look on the Triumph Twin Power website, there's a downloadable guide to removing the baffle plate somewhere there.
+André Filipe Thanks Andre, and thanks to Ben 1022 for answering
Thanks! I remember checking the guide from TTP some months ago and
finding the instructions somewhat confusing and/or hard since I'm not
very mechanically inclined. I know some people removed it through the
snorkel/air filter using a hair dryer directed at the baffle..
Views from the Man Cave no worries. Here's a link to the guide I used: www.triumphtwinpower.com/triumph-twin-easy-airbox-baffle-removal.php i can recommend Triumph Twin Powers products and Tunes. I did the AI, air induction and baffle plate removal plus a new ECU tune and it makes a world of difference.
Remove RH shock remove air filter battery loosen battery box as per video undo 12 screw on non air filter side of batt box . Tilt backward s and no fiddly bit remove break heat up baffle . It will come out then re assemble. Very fiddly but not technical .
By the way great video and channel
Is it the same
Procedure for the street twin 900??
No it would be a different process. Its essentally the same idea but the airbox is fitted completely differently
Ohh, i understand. Thought i could do it to my street twin 900. Thanks for the reply
Did you not re-jet your carbs when switching over to the pod filters?
It’s a fuel injected bike
Hello, what about all the hoses that are connected? I get a vacuum leak
Is the process same for Royal Enfield Himalayan ? The removal of Air filter box.
Sadly, I have no idea sorry
Hi, thanks for the video, how many HP increases using the airbox removal -pod filters- instead of the stock filter?
Not much I would imagine, a few HP maybe?
Before attempting this simply pull the air filter(s) and ride the bike to see if the easier breathing makes any significant difference.
Hi. Just got a like new used 2008 t100. Unfortunately it sat with fuel in the tank. I cleaned the tank and thought the carbs would be ok, but it will only run in Choke mode. I need to remove the carbs. But I'm not sure how. Do I need to take everything off that you did in this video?
Hi Ronan, you won’t need to remove the air box, just the tank and side covers should be enough. I found this walkthrough online t3knoid.blogspot.com/2012/05/removing-carburetors-and-replacing.html?m=1
Views from the Man Cave Thank you so much!!! I was about to take it to the shop. I'll give this a try.
Views from the Man Cave Thank you for the Link. I followed the instructions and cleaned the main jets and the fuel jets. Got everything put back together. Installed it back onto the bike. Won't turn over. There is fuel in the right side bowl, but nothing dripping from the left. Anything I may have missed. Your help and advice is much appreciated.
im new to the modification scene. what benefits does removing the airbox have?
A couple of minor advantages are a weight saving and having better access to some parts of the bike. The biggest advantage is increasing the airflow to the throttle bodies/carbs.
Did you dyno bike for a before and after to show increase in torque and power ?
No unfortunately not Andy, but I'll be looking to film a dyno session at the end
Absolutely brilliant!
Thanks Mark
Where does the starter relay go…..didn’t see that bit ….😫😫
This was just the removal - Part 5 ruclips.net/video/DWIKAcPkFVU/видео.html shows the installation and where the relays fit....
Good progress buddy 👍🏻
Cheers Cotti
Can some one help me and tell me why my bike carbs on a bonneville 2001 runs only with full coke on thanks
Lino Falzon I'm having the same problem. Only it won't go anywhere. It'll die. My guess is fuel jets are clogged. Did you get yours fixed?
What are the air filter part numbers? And what about the crank case breather
Hi Michael, from memory they are the k&n RC-2890. Unbranded ones can be found cheaper.
did you find out which air filters were used?
wow yours did not come with a rear brake caliper .. insane
?
necesito ayuda
Is this the same process for the 2021 street twin?
In essence it’s the same, but there are differences with the Street Twin setup compared to the t100
Don't forget about a carb brace - otherwise they will fall off the bike....
This is an EFi model
I have removed the airbox on mi scrambler EFI and am having problems keeping the transition rubbers in place... They keep retroceding from the correct place. Not happening to you?
