  • today I show how I digitally ditch 3D models for bands BEFORE i print them so that they are ready to have bands fit when they come out of the printer!

    Have you ever tried to figure out how much you’re saving with the hollow method? Not a guess, an actual reliable calculation including labor?

      Great question! I think I might have a way to test this without having to printing a bunch of hollow vs. Solid retainers. that could give us an answer. Stay tuned...

    Hi! Very informative. How do you handle the ditching for 6s that are at an angulation such as pointing more lingual? My understanding is that meshmixer will only drop the ditch based on the Y-axis.

      That's a good question, might be easier to just 1, Print normal and ditch it by hand using a bur 1. Ditch digitally but using a digital "Carve" tool, or 3. change the y axis using the to match the angle you need using the Edit>Transform tool in mesh mixer then ditch one side, the change the y-axis again and do the other side. Not sure if any of these would be better just thinking off the top of my head :)
