That's the thing though Mahoraga could keep adapting indefinitely like Sukuna said but that doesn't mean Mahoraga can retain every single adaptation he has completed. I don't believe Gege will ever clarify this but it would kind of make sense if he had to ditch a few adaptations the more he adapts to different phenomena, for now it simply looks like he has infinite adaptations and maybe they reset when he is unsummoned.
That's only with something he already adapted to
I don't think we should expect JJK characters to know. Who in this universe has 8 different attacks to try on Raga? 90% of opponents probably died due to his sheer speed, or were exhausted and overwhelmed.
Tho if Sukuna said it, I could probably believe it, since he's strong enough to test Raga with low effort.
Was he not talking about how once he adapts to something he doesn't stop analyzing it. Like infinity, he adapted, then continued without stopping until he found a way for sukuna to break through it

I personally think that the way it works is that mahoraga himself has no concrete form and can do whatever he wants to his body (the freedom of divinity) and he uses the chakra wheel to understand the phenomenon of the world so that he can then adjust strategies and change his body as needed. This is also why sukuna could use mahoragas adaptation to develop a new move of his own because the understanding was transferred.
This would in theory mean that you could counter the adaptation by having two contradictory phenomenon harming him at the same time, atleast two things that in order to adapt to one you cant adapt to the other at the same time.
Or atleast thats my head cannon, i really like it because it plays into all the themes with mahoraga, makes him a total monster, but it does leave some kind of weakness that isnt just "he cant adapt to being oneshoted" regardless of how difficult that weakness would be to find and exploit
If he had a limitation to a number of adaptations why wouldn't he just adapt to the limit with the last adaptation. Where's the rule he can't wish for more wishes.

after he adapts to any way you could hurt him and any way you could defend yourself from him he will just keep adapting until you die

Also, if there was an ingrained strategy to beating mahoraga, I would infer someone would have subjugated him already
Until the obstacle is removed he will not stop evolving. The Wheel is an indicator that something is happening with "Mahoraga" so a smart opponent can figure out his nature without prior knowledge aka Sukuna.
Its probably the downside to his OP ability to branch out into anything and everything as demonstrated by "World Slash"
Even if the number of different adaptations could potentially be infinite, there is still the question of what would happen if two different phenomena required adaptations that were mutually exclusive.
He would find the most efficient adaptation to accommodate both. Sukuna says even if mahoraga is adapted to something he doesn't stop adapting to it and constantly comes up with more efficient adaptations after the fact.
I think that's kinda how gojo beat him. It adapted to blue and purple is both blue and it's opposite at the same time.

Spoiler alert for people who want to stay anime only
So I think that Mahoraga will adapt to anything that comes into contact with it worth adapting to, for example slashing attacks(from dismantle and cleave) or spacial manipulation(from blue, even though it’s not explicitly stated to what extent maho might have adapted to via blue, besides blue itself) it’s never stated how many things it can adapt to at one point in time, aka getting hit with a punch and then a slash, but we could also infer that maho would most likely do that if it ever came up(I don’t have any examples of this sadly). Another thing that is confirmed in the story is that maho doesn’t have to stop adapting to something once it has a full adaptation(seen with how it initially bypasses infinity and how the world slash is created). It is unknown for the most part exactly how it adapts, like does it adapt incrementally? As in does it do minor adaptations to reach a proper adaptation or does it have to wait to get properly adapted to something before an adaptation occurs, I think that this latter option is how it goes, it may do both or just one idk. To continue the yapping, it is also unconfirmed if it will continue to adapt to things after initial adaptation without input from the person that tamed it, you can assume that it only adapts until the problem it has is completely solved in the moment and will then pick it back up if a new problem arises. To point out something else is does maho take the quickest route to adapting to something as possible? Think quality over quantity and which one it prioritizes. This is just what I think, feel free to point out inconsistencies in my points if you want, I would love to talk more about this with you.
Using the shikigami individually doesn't make sense since base maho can counter half of them at their current strength and you dont need much adaptations to counter all of them.
But when they combine they become this monstrosity with greater power than the individual ones.
As a joke i always visualized the combined one of all 10 will be a glitchey mess that constantly keeps switching forcing maho to constantly adapt to it. Then megumi sneaks up from behind and back stabs maho finally taming him

One thing I wonder about with Mahoraga, is could he eventually adapt to being “Tamed” but the user, like if Sukuna had lasted longer, I wonder if eventually Mahoraga would adapt to being tamed and become free and start fighting Sukuna

It s funny how gojofans seems to be treating mahoraga and agito as seperate persons with a will of their own to justify the 3v1 when they re actually part of the 10 shadows technique
They do have a will but must obey the user, sounds like they counter each other but they don't. Even megumis base shikigami like divine dogs did.
Sukuna literally said “It’s a 3 on 1” they are part of the 10S but they can act without the user input as shikigami
Had an interesting thought about Yuta's copy the other day. Do you think it is possible that the output or the strength/effectiveness of a copied CT could be tied to the amount of mass consumed? (or the percentage of body mass consumed)
We see that with Uro, Rika consumed an entire arm and we can assume that she consumed around the same amount with Kenjaku and Hana, Whereas with Sukuna we know that she could've only consumed a finger.
Mainly thought of this as a way to explain why Yuta's Shrine was weaker compared to other techniques with which he could use Thin ice breaker and Jacob's ladder. Curious to hear your thoughts on this.

I think if Mahoraga had a limit, it would take less time to adapt, maybe one spin. Kind of underpowered as the last shikigami if he's limited by time to adapt and number of adaptations

it really does Suck that theres no concreate explanation but it is Gege wer talking about but actually if this is case i had an interesting Idea, From that Gojo vs Sukuna Fight we saw that the wheel takes a certain number of spins in order to beat infinity, it doesnt do it instantly.Same when battling Sukuna ( i guess it is the anime so its debatable) but Mahoraga dosent instantly nulify all slashes the moment Sukuna uses his skills, It knows it can regen it so it adapts to seeing. Maybe theres a certain time limit before it is able to adapt to all of its opponents move So a Ten shadows user in order to defeat it MUST be able to use all their Shikigami Simultaneously to destroy it within a short period of Time (Similar to how Sukuna did) with certain shikigami Restraining it and Others dealing the killing Blow.

I believe he has a maximum of eight adaptions at once and when he is un summoned the adaptions all go away but he can adapt as much as he needs to for a certain ability
Can Makora adapt to more than one thing at a time or does him getting attacked by a different ability reset the first adaptation?
Mahoraga just keeps adapting until it kills the target or gets killed. Sukuna has confirmed this.

Honestly, I wonder if the 8 spins signify different levels of overcoming an adaptation. After a few spins, it starts to negate the technique. Eventually, we see it start to develop counters to the technique. So I wonder after full 8 spins, it fully adapts and nullifies the technique completely (prevent it from going off)? Or doesn’t negate but absorbs it (so the technique heals Mahoraga)? Or maybe “full adaptation” could mean “mastery” over the technique and mean “copy” it?

it doesn't stop but I think maybe some adaptations would contradict with others? maybe there would be something to exploit there
Aye I’m curious do you know if mahoraga stays adapted if he’s summed by the same user that tamed him multiple times? I know there’s probably not a solid answer since sukunas the only one that has ever tamed him, but let’s say sukuna still has 10 shadows & he summed mahoraga again would he already be adapted to infinite void or does he like reset every time he’s summed?

Usually heavenly restrictions, take a important thing in trade for power. Let’s take mechamaru, his CT range is extraordinary but traded his health and body. The best heavenly restriction condition there is of tojis and present makis. If a person has CE,C technique, and godly physical stats. Then they might probably be robbed off mentally,or shorter lifespan or some other shit, bigger the power worse the trade off. So imo toji heavenly restriction and mechamaru heavenly restriction with help of mahito are the best case scenarios.

I disagree, we’ve seen that anybody worth using maharaga on is able to kill it pretty easily (sulukuna and gojo). You could just as easily call the sure hit effect of domains boring.
