  • Tim Keller sermons via Gospel in Life: It is much easier to believe in God than to trust in God. God calls Abraham to live a life of faith, but Abraham struggles. He asks God how he knows that he can trust God. God responds with a demonstration that is one of the clearest pointers to the Gospel in the Old Testament. In so doing, God enables Abraham to truly live a life of faith.

Everything except the promise of God is fluid. This is a profound observation. Thank you, Pastor Keller, for this message!

So beautiful. I never realized Abram did not participate in his part of the covenant. It’s so clear now. God did it all! He’s so perfectly good. Thank you for this message!

Please read this it is so amazing. I was led here by learning biblical Hebrew. The first word in the bible is "In beginning" which in Hebrew comprises 6 letters. If you take the middle two letters it spells fire. If you take the other 4 letters it spells covenant. So what you end up with is "CoveFIREnant" - The covenant where the pieces are split and fire passes through the middle. This very covenant in Genesis 15. The covenant of the gospel of Christ ... Isaiah 46:10 I distinguish the end from the beginning

oh! what a wonderful right exegesis , it is clear to me now how a beautiful the covenant of GOD . He did it by him alone ,to GOD BE THE GLORY ALONE.

Abraham is promised many different things by God throughout his life and which would seem very irrelevant and foolish for a meaningful life to many people. Yet Abraham obeys continuously and despite what he feels. He realizes how God works very differently than what we often imagine, how God knows beyond what we could predict, how God uses people many others would least expect in different ways, and how God works all things together for the good of those who love Him. Jesus additionally made it clear how it isn't possible for any true believer to partially trust God and makes it clear that we either believe or don't with no moderate stance in between. Much of modern culture either rejects the Gospel or claims to take some moderate stance but Jesus makes it clear that both are rejecting Him. Such is a lesson in how God is beyond human reasoning with grander plans and how He truly will work all things together for the good of those who believe in Him!

God works in mysterious ways and even though Tim thinks he is speaking it is not the message of Tim but that of The Holy Spirit. As Christians we are anchored in trusting God but we don’t see God because we always looking at the moving waters assuming it’s the only truth. I am an Orthadox Christian and although the waters look different to how another Christian denomination would see it from above we are all anchored to God.Probably your Christian denomination is different to the Orthadox denomination because we follow scripture and traditions.Although Presbyterian’s doesn’t believe in Holy Tradition , Tim’s sermon was based on honoring of contracts based on traditions. God performed the act of walking between the sacrificed animals. When as Orthadox Christians we make the sign of the cross we also follow a tradition which binds is to our faith. Tim’s sermon is very Orthadox whilst many Orthodox sermons are far more Presbyterian in nature. I think God wants to save us all.

Truth brother! I'm neither Orthodox nor Presbyterian, but I felt the Spirit of God in Pastor Tim's words. I've read his books for many years and this is the first message of his I've heard. Your evangelical brother from the middle of America.
