Flashback Pheasant Tail - mayfly larvae (and more) - McFly Angler Fly Tying Tutorial

The Pheasant tail is a staple fly in almost all nymph Fishermans boxes. It is probably one of the most popular mayfly nymphs out there and for good reason. They aren't too hard to tie, and they are quite effective. Its really hard to beat a well tied pheasant tail and they can be tied in a number of different sizes. From large 8's to small 20's and even smaller if you can manage it. They represent a mayfly very well, BWO's as well which are a type of baetis. There are a number of materials that you can use to tie in the wing case, including pheasant itself, however I really like the turkey tails.

Hey Shawn great tie!
With regards to spinning your thread bobbin anti clockwise to achieve a flat thread,I'm able to do this with utc but only get a dozen or so flat wraps then the thread cords up again.What is the best way to keep it 80% flat?Surely if you keep spinning it anti clockwise it's going to cord up again...

Thank you. I mean I wrap a couple times and it chords back up again also, just keep spinning it to un-chord. I think constantly turning the bobbin holder while tying might be cumbersome to do.
