World record speed skating. Shani Davis (USA) skated 1.06,42 on the 1000 meters. Record was skated at the Utah Olympic Oval (Salt Lake City) on March 7th 2009.
Pure happiness right there at the end. When u work really hard at something and give evrything up for it and go at it hard, alls the time. And then u get that one good ending. That's what a skater does it for. Well and the olympics that to ;D

less energy expenditure while skating means you have more energy to put into your legs, one arm swing is less tiring than two and thats why in long distance races you'll see skaters have both arms on their backs in the straights

I have to admit, I don't care much for sports. With one exeption: SKATING! Grew up with that in this freakin cold country, Norway. And that Davis (born august 16th 1982, Chicago ~ that he is as fast as he is, world champion in both allround and sprint! Makes me more happy than Obama moving into The White House. Call me an idiot or whatever I don't care I mean it. B-)

Nuis should be able to skate a 1.05. He was very close a couple of weeks ago, but his 3rd bend wasn't steady enough.

Marsicano's first round and first 200 m where faster, but the last lap from shani is incredible.
