This hits a special place in my heart. When I was 15 I bought a 1979 mustang as my first car and put a 1990 mustang interior and swapped the 4cyl for a 5.0 crate motor with the 1990 T5 tranny into it. I didn't even have my drivers license for another 4 years. As a 15 year old I spliced the wiring harness together. It was by no means a professional installation but I had most things working. I worked at burger king making something like $2.50 an hour and sunk every cent I made into that car. Then times got hard and I had to sell it before I finished it. I yanked the motor and tranny before selling it which my father put into his 1923 T-bucket. That engine I built 32 years ago is still running today in that T-bucket.

No video of the process. I was only allowed to video the finished product. An S550 floor pan and firewall section were used in place of the fox floorpan and firewall. A portion of the front frame rails from the S550 were also used so that ALL of the S550 dash, electronics, steering column, pedals and other bits could be used. There's really not much left of the fox sheetmetal except for the exterior and everything from the rear seat pan back to the taillight panel. An aftermarket K member was used along with front suspension. You're just like the owner. He wanted the best of old and new in one car.

But, it wasn’t the only project they were working on. My buddy and I were talking about it and actual time put into it was about 2-2.5 years.
I’ll ask the builder. From what I remember they used all the wiring and computers from a 2019. The car doesn’t have any fox wiring in it except connectors for the fox components like power windows or the trunk release. The S550 harness’ were adapted to the components and it all functions like the S550 with the locks locking at 18mph and the flashing of the marker lights when you lock it. It’s all S550 functionality. Including HVAC and blue tooth.
It was in the RUclips creators library. I pulled it from there. And that has all changed as of earlier this year. I have no idea where you could go to get it.
This is a very awesome build. And I'm sure the 93 cobra owners are celebrating the fact that their cars have gone up in value by one less car on the road. I say that bc even though this car would sale for good money bc of what it is and how well it's built, but it's worth no more than it would be if it were built out of a 4cyl car bc the fact that it's a 93 cobra was cut out of it. It's only a 93 cobra by registration paperwork only now.
Thanks for the kind words. Lots of hate on this car because it’s a real cobra. Sad fact is that they produced almost five thousand street cars. Not small production by any means. And value is based on the beauty in the eye of the beholder. And I can say for certainty that the owner of this car has been offered money for this car over double what any 93 cobra R has gone for in public auction. At that point it boils down to style and performance. There’s a reason a reimagined Singer Porsche 911 brings 7 figures. It won’t outperform a modern 911 but Styling and performance match. Fit and finish as well. Plenty of cobbled together builds of all makes out there these days. Just poke around on RUclips for 10 minutes and you’ll find them. Very few have completed the execution to a level where it all works. Every button and every function. Most shops and people get it “good enough” and move on. I call that the 95% rule. Get it 95 percent complete and move on. This build is one that is timeless and traditional. Keeping the look of the original styling with modern technology. Like a Rolex watch. This one won’t ever go out of style. But many wild builds do. They are a content of their era. Like billet aluminum in a hot rod from the 90’s or crazy neon graphics of the 80’s with 2 axis machined billet wheels. And saying again, we didn’t build this. It was a purist build in that it was within the brand and complete. We just took video of it with the owner when he took delivery. No denying the ripple this car has caused with 93 Cobra owners. I didn’t do the work. This is a close friends car and another friend of mine built it for him. The wiring is all S550 and was from a 2019. A few things were adapted to mate to fox solenoids…etc. But yea, it being all 2019 harness’ gives the car its functionality like a modern one.
That’s a good question. I do know the battery is up inside the fender on the driver side. I honestly didn’t think to look for the ABS controller when doing the video. During the spirited drive the brakes never locked up at all. And it was driven HARD during that time. So much so that my GoPro mount failed on the first run. Over half the footage was not usable.
Now I really really want one. I think this is gonna be a very desired and sought-after build down the road. It's absolutely insane!!!! My only question is can I get the same thing done on a regular fox GT and how long would it take?
I’m sure it can be done on a GT or any fox. This was done by a garage that’s equivalent to Jay Leno’s. It’s private. I highlighted it because it was a great build and detailed execution. It took 3+ years to complete. But it wasn’t the only project being worked on. But it was the primary one.
Rock chalk babayyy!! One of my fraternity brothers LOVED the Jayhawks. We gave him so much crap, but at the time they always won. My alma mater was junk in the 90’s for basketball. So he won the arguments.. every time. 😂🤣

Best of both worlds, but I prefer a stick, and push rod engine if going to engine swap or a modded 302 natural and or supercharged with suspension upgrade..If going away from push rod engine I'll take 03 Cobra swap in a Cobra with stock interior and maybe better seats.
Personally, I’m in the same camp as you. This was such a cool build with Ford parts that any Ford Purist would enjoy. So I had to do a video on it. It’s just a high quality bespoke build. Lost of haters hating, but they’re just jealous. The car is excellent.
You are definitely aligned with its owner. He wanted the styling with modern performance. The car is super fun to drive and cruises in modern traffic easily.
The build was in excess of $150k. It was done by a shop that’s akin to Jay Leno’s. They don’t do any work on client cars. Just the cars and projects in the owners collection.
It has resonators and mufflers. Long tube headers and a custom fabbed exhaust connecting to the cat back. It’s either dynomax or pypes mufflers. Its not ours.
That is beyond my imagination! I could just imagine how much time and money is in that build! Hats off to the engineers that built that!

It’s still an authentic Cobra 👏👏
Not really!
An authentic Cobra is Stock!
😍😍they did do it justice....beautiful master
So did you just swap in the entire factory dash and body harness from the 2019? Is that how it's so factory?
I didn’t do the work. This is a close friends car and another friend of mine built it for him. The wiring is all S550 and was from a 2019. A few things were adapted to mate to fox solenoids…etc. But yea, it being all 2019 harness’ gives the car its functionality like a modern one.
What did you do with the ABS, I know you said everything works but not seeing any of that in the build.
Such a good question. A fox Mustang with ABS would be outstanding. I wonder if the bits from a MarkVII would bolt in for a poor man’s ABS.
@@PuristMotorsports I know this isn’t your build but I’d like to talk to you more about it. Is there a way we can talk?
Shoot me an email through my website. www.puristmotorsports.com
@@PuristMotorsports that's good info. The owner posted on a FB... Asked for first rights of refusal since we're both Jayhawks😂
Rock chalk babayyy!! One of my fraternity brothers LOVED the Jayhawks. We gave him so much crap, but at the time they always won. My alma mater was junk in the 90’s for basketball. So he won the arguments.. every time. 😂🤣
@@PuristMotorsports I just found your channel and as a guy who loves foxbodies... It's really a treat. Thank you for sharing these videos. I've had a lot of cars come and go... In the market again but waiting for something special.
Maybe 7 years ago I could have bought an emerald saleen coupe out of Kentucky... Forgot all the details but I just couldn't pull the trigger at the time with young kids.
Dude!! I can relate. I’ve had to let things pass by because of two young kids. But I wouldn’t trade them for all the foxes in the world.
Thanks for chiming in. Really enjoy the convo and connecting with everyone. Including the haters. 😂🤣😂
Are the Saleen roll bars available for purchase? 4 point? Extremely interested! Thanks, Bob.
Two points will be available this winter. Email me through the website. I can track it there. I have a list forming.
"FULLY SWAPPED INTERIOR" proceeds to open door to show foxbody door panels lol
That is AWESOME!
Absolutely Magnificent 🙌🙌🏁🏁👌👌
I’d kill to have a fox like that
All I can say is DAMN!!! I wish I could do mine that way! 😎
How many man hours did it take to build this masterpiece and how much did it cost?
Not sure of the man hours. The project took 3.5 years. But it wasn’t the sole project in that time.
What would be a ball park figure on a swap like this.
Dr. Evil says, “One million dollars”.
What tire size were on the makers wheels?
I would drive the hell out of this setup. So smart to modernize the interior!
Can I get in touch with the guys that did this?
That’s unlikely. I’ll ask, but this is a shop just like Jay Leno’s. They only work on the cars in the owner’s collection and a few friends cars.
Beautiful Car just dont agree with the interior should have left it Fox Stock❤
I love it. Wish it was mine.
Beautiful car
This is exactly what I want to do with my 01 Bullitt
Id rather have that than a brand new gt!
You are definitely aligned with its owner. He wanted the styling with modern performance. The car is super fun to drive and cruises in modern traffic easily.
Very nice car coming from a Ford guy and it was not ruined
Nice shirt! Where can I get one?
Check out the shop on the website. It’s one of our designs. www.PuristMotorsports.com
Hell yeah!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
How much would this build cost me. I have a 93 convertible I would like to do the same?
The build was in excess of $150k. It was done by a shop that’s akin to Jay Leno’s. They don’t do any work on client cars. Just the cars and projects in the owners collection.
Beautiful! 🇺🇸
Does it have a/c? Where did they put everything? The engine bay looks so empty…
It’s all there. Factory S550 5.0 components and accessories that all work.
Whoah…. That thing rips
How much does it cost to build a thing like this
I was advised $150k+
It would look even better with a digital cluster from the 2019 and newer Mustangs.
Whats exhaust are you running?..
It has resonators and mufflers. Long tube headers and a custom fabbed exhaust connecting to the cat back. It’s either dynomax or pypes mufflers. Its not ours.
Incredible
