    2:00 I believe that's exactly what the point is. It gives him that opportunity to keep us guessing if he'll rise to a challenge or become a pawn

      Yeah exactly and I guess they want us to hate him because, I do, haha.

    The way keiran and the fremen smuggler-bartender wait outside the bar after the explosion instead of running like hell is ridiculous. And so was their plan, what if they came with more men? What if they had people guarding the outside (and that would have been the smart thing to do)? Keiran said that he didn’t want his cover blown, and he stays in the bar risking to be recognized… and the idiot left the map of the airvents in full view. I swear this show seems to be written by a toddler.

      Yeah I struggled with these points as well... The map was infuriating

    Loved seeing the imprinting at work. It was done subtly, which I thought was perfectly portrayed. Also love that we’re starting to see where Desmond’s power comes from.
    The fact that some of the sisters and acolytes are disrespectful to their superiors didn’t bother me because we are seeing the Bene Gesserit before they are the Bene Gesserit. It’s messy, and should be messy.
    There’s also NO WAY they can wrap up all the threads by the end of episode six. So we HAVE to have a second and maybe even third season. I also hope that the powers that be make more episodes per season (8-10 would be ideal). Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
    So far, though, I’m loving the series as a whole.

      Yeah I suspect few threads will be tied by the end too.

    Constantine doesn’t bother me because the incompetence of the Corrinos has been a core element of the show. Nobody in the family cares about the future of the House, just what they stand to gain for themselves which makes all of them easy to manipulate.
    The writers executed that idea in a hamfisted way though, so I do agree with you in that sense. Take a drink every time the Emperor loses confidence and does whatever the person next to him wants to do…

    I figured that even though the influence of the sisterhood is growing, it’s still on a delicate ledge at this point in time. And with Jen, we see her become upset because of Lila. But with Lila being alright for the most part, Hen seemed to calm down a bit. As for Mikaela, I’d be pretty miffed if everything I’ve achieved had to be destroyed merely as a distraction. We must remember, these are still human, and humans can still err

      @secretsofdune  5 часов назад

      She (Mikaela) knew what she was signing up for, at least she should have known. Perhaps too much emotion at play here, not enough proof of emotional control. I don't know.

      @tgiacin435 4 часа назад +1

      @ which probably goes back to the sisterhood being young and not having complete control over their faculties yet. This isn’t exactly the bene gesserit after all. Though this is probably the events that would have the sisters start more emotional training. Cause even reverend mothers only have access to the memories of women that aren’t part of the sisterhood.

    I've got to be honest, this show feels a lot more like it's just a world-building device as opposed to a serious story with something to say. There's all sorts of member-berries referencing the books, but it ultimately feels more like this is a vehicle for setting up future Dune TV adaptations rather than being its own thing.

    • @secretsofdune
      @secretsofdune  4 часа назад +1

      The sad thing is, if we want more Dune TV adaptations, this show has to do well and the fans have to show their support for it whether its good or not. I agree with you in that it does seem like a world building tool for sure, for Legendary ultimately.

    the soldiers look like cyberpunk tech bros dressing up for some convention, couldn't take it seriously. The bickering of the acolytes is strange, especially for such a secretive order. I would expect that they have already worked out the signs one would display if they aren't fully committed to the mission and expel them. But my excuse is that the order is still so young, the reverend mothers are still learning how to best control and lead it. The fight scene with Mikhaela was strange, her moves were very robotic in a way? But the episodes overall are getting better. I really hope it will be renewed for a second season.

    the acolytes are less in line on purpose I think, the sisterhood is very new it makes sense people question it more than they do 10k years later, it also makes sense its not ran as well because its such a new institution. most of what's going on would not fly in Pauls time I'm sure. also she told sister mikaela we have a contingency for desmond hart, so although I agree she should have anticipated a shield but she does have another plan.

    Pretty sure the primary point of Valya’s plan was to take Desmond off-planet and distract him from what was happening with Francesca and the Emperor. Killing him at that point would have been a bonus.

    It seems to be getting better but there's only 1 ep left.
    I'm still not sure why they bothered making it. A tax break maybe?
    I think Hart's soldiers look trash 😂

    Your point about respect for elders is well made, but it's been my experience after working some 26 years in event hosting and security, that respect for elders (or authority figures), regretfully, came at a premium. Disrespect didn't and we had to utilize every means in our toolbox to ensure compliance for the safety and comfort of all attendees. At some events, concerts and hockey games, we dealt with nothing, but attitude. Now, I have to mention this in terms of "Dune: Prophecy". In no uncertain terms, did Valya at any time in episodes they both appeared in, demonstrate anything resembling respect towards her uncle, Baron Evgeny Harkonnen? It may be a stretch, but it's also something to think about... I like you, respected my elders while bearing in mind the tenet of: "You reap what you sow.", yeah?...

    • @secretsofdune
      @secretsofdune  4 часа назад +2

      Haha perhaps im just part of an older generation that kind of saw that respect as paramount. I wouldn't mind seeing that respect broken down over the show as things descend into chaos. Perhaps a visible breaking down of that respect through the performances and the script, again it's a luxury that I guess a six-episode-season cannot afford. In the show it just comes across as "it's cool and edgy to speak whatever comes to your mind against your elders" and that there's not respect for authority at all. I hear your point though and appreciate it.

    Unfortunately the fight choreography was sub Arrow tier.

    This episode was a bit more interesting but it’s still not connecting. Remember in House of the Dragon S1, there were episodes with mostly characters having conversations and the dialogue had me hooked on the screen. This show needs talent like a Guillermo Del Toro.

    Hiring mediocre writers to work on such an intricate story should be outlawed

    I hope you get the second season, because this episode was really really good. I think a lot of fans are nitpicking. One of the main complaints are the supplies. Which everyone keeps saying it's CW ish... or it's teenie boppy.. I don't have a problem with that I mean after all the bar / nightclub is gone it's blown up.. Michaela was sent off to arrakis. So we won't see her anymore.. and I don't mind the teenagers in the series. It doesn't bother me come I'm paying more attention to what's going on with the main plots it's much more captivating and what I'm actually looking at... not the little subplots that everyone everyone else complaining about. People got to give things a chance. In build up. Everybody wants to see what they want to see and not to mention they don't give things chance to play out. people made their ultimate decision based on the first episode..

    If it wasn't for your 'breakdowns' I wouldn't know what's going on in this show. I find this show very weak and not at all representative of Herbert;s universe. Tbh I would be surprised if it is renewed. I think any viewers that weren't originally F Herbert readers, then they only came because of Villeneuve's adaptation and were served a very inferior presentation.

    I'd watched Andor the day before I watched this episode. And I just can't stop comparing two shows. There's one particular scene when one of the main characters is asked about his sacrifices just like Tula was. Both shows give much attention of making difficult choices and doing some bad things for greater good. And in Dune reply was just lazy "More than you can imagine". Whereas in Andor it was epic monologue about sacrificing humanity, being damned to do what they do and burning life for someone else's future. And I just can't stop thinking that if that monologue was put in Tula's mouth it would add so much depth in her character and show overall. But unfortunately, poor writing wasted Dune Universe's potential of showing great philosophical story. Instead, we get that "Omg, he killed a child. Omg, she killed them and they are atreydes. Omg it's her son". Just generic bullshit.
